Obviously they won't 'grow' another Faker out of nowhere but I don't think they'll regress that bad. I will agree that Korea is bleeding talents like a pig right now, but once they cauterize the wound they will be back up and running. I tend to agree. Their real strength is their training infrastucture. Kespa will bleed though. They surely have to pay much more money now. Although I have to say I never understood why their salarys were so low. With all those high profile sponsors, lots of sucess in Korea being on TV and all, they should have enough money. Either they are bad at monetizing or they are greedy as fuck.

UoL and C9 currently leading the IEM votes. Dignitas is actually lower than T8, the dongers are lowered.

Either they are bad at monetizing or they are greedy as fuck. Their 'real strength' is not training infrastructure but the 'tryhard culture' they managed to build around eSports. A recent article interviewed the Samsung head coach and he stated the team only requires players to practice 3-6 hours. The rest of the time is strictly personal motivation. Korean solo queue is ahead of other regions because everyone on it is highly motivated to win. Korean players are ahead of other players because they try harder. You don't ever hear of Korean teams trolling scrims the way other regions' teams do, and you don't ever hear of Korean players fooling around the way other regions' players do. Chinese coaches and managers have publicly expressed that they recruit Korean players because they simply aren't able to find equally motivated Chinese players, hence the failure of LSPL and the need to import. In the West it is the same deal. As to KESPA, there is a recent downturn in the Korean economy - see, for example, http://online.wsj.com/articles/samsung-electronics-third-quarter-profit-falls-sharply-1414627015 - which explains why the sponsors want to cut back on extraneous spendings eg eSports. Sending their top players to other regions is preferable to forcing them into retirement, and trying to out-bid Chinese billionaires is equivalent to burning money. What the latter are doing is not sustainable whatsoever and no profit-seeking corporation is going to entangle themselves in it and in the process massively inflate player salaries. It's banal these days to talk about economic bubbles in China, but in this case the stereotype holds. These Chinese billionaires' sons - from iG's owner to Snake's owner to EDG's owner - are throwing money around with zero business sense. It works for them because what do they care, they're rich. But insofar as the rest of the scene is involved, it is spending beyond the the actual value of these players, which hurts the industry in the long run because it makes it less of an industry than a private connoisseurs' club, thereby limiting expansion opportunities and demotivating business-minded sponsors.

So the CLG now CLD? Counter Logic Dignitas? The amount of disappointment will be unreal. The Dig's good early season, and late season drop off paired with the "win 1 game give fans false hope" CLG strategy will be too good.
