While I understand that there's a need to discuss this matter, this thread has way too many trash posts in it. Please think carefully about what you want to say. Ad hominem attacks on Swedish people in general, calling you fellow Starcraft fans idiots etc etc will be dealt with with harsher punishment from here on out. Keep it civil people.
Page 230: Here's some more stuff that'll get you banned! - Conspiracy theory mongering about MLG and GOM - Comparing people to Hitler - Posting useless one liners of arguments that have already been repeated ad nauseum. |

I'm not saying what he did was good, and he deserves to be notified. Maybe a warning, to let him know that hey, that's not something we support for our invites, if you do something like that again you're out.
But not taking away something he worked hard for an entire year, now that's fucking retarded. You clearly are thinking with a clear mind. Thats why you repeat words over and over and rage swear multiple times. THIS IS THE WARNING. It could have been much worse. And if you don't think they thought it through you are just so so naive. Much worse? I'm surprised people are defending this, I'd love to hear the arguments of people who would defend a lifetime ban. People are defending this since Naniwa has more haters than any other player out there. This isn't about what they think about the punishment, it's about what they think of him as a person.
naniwa has a history of bm and disrespect to tournament officials. he was banned in several tournaments. but obviously nothing is going to get through your swedish bias.

yupp So he's right because? There's already precedence to say he's wrong (Choya).
You are comparing what Choya did on ladder to what Naniwa did on broadcasted television?
Choya frankly is grandmaster level anyway and would have made it back despite Code B restriction. It was more of a playful thing than actually trying to cheat the system. And he got banned from GSTL anyway.

Their choice but it has no support for this one. They should add it for following offenses. Naniwa literally stated he threw the game.
Justify that please.

Why did Mr. Chae (as a representative of GOM) have to call Naniwa an "amateur prize hunter". That is so childish. Even if you think you have been wronged, be the bigger person/company. I would have been fine with their revocation of Naniwa's Code S spot (whether I agree with it or not is irrelevant) as that is their decision, but slandering like that is extremely unprofessional and damages themselves more than Naniwa ever could.
Naniwa's reputation has been reduced in my eyes, but GOM and SC2 e-sports in general has been reduced more in reputation from Mr. Chae's comment. If he didn't say that, I would be completely unoffended by this incident, however unfortunate it is to Naniwa and GOM.
In all seriousness, that statement has made me lose my will to watch any Starcraft tournament games ever again, and I watch a lot. Not just GOM, but everything, I can't recommend Starcraft spectatorship to anyone if the most prestigious tournament organisers acts so unprofessionally. Better things to do with my time.

I could just as well say, that GOM was disrespectful towards Naniwa, because they forced him to play against Nestea, just so he can have his revenge. Might actually be true, I wouldn't believe that two days ago, but after what stunt they just pulled? Who knows...
No one forced him to do anything. He knew the format going in. If he didn't agree to the format. He should have refused the invite. I paid good money and I want to be entertained.

Everyone knows nothing would happen. Hes done stupid stuff before in the GSL and nothing happened, despite actually BREAKING rules, unlike Naniwa.

What double standard? Care to explain?

He should have known how important is respect in Korea since he lives there for a long time. His decision to probe rush like that was stupid.

Next time GOM have to put in their rules that probe/drone/scv rushes are banned from the game xD or else u get banned for it and u cant get the opponent mad or the fans mad on u then u get the same treatment.
This is probbebly the biggest joke so far. he threw the game, he said so
don't compare it to an all in, that's not what it was.

Umm.. there is no rule stating 'no worker rush' is there.. GSL making up rules as they see fit isn't exactly that great either.. But so it goes.

I just e-mailed gom saying how i feel. i would urge everyone that cares about fairness and predictability and professionalism in e-sports to do the same.
YES, you heard me right, professionalism! Professionalism is not coming up with stupid rules when things have already happened, to try to justify punishing people you dont like

I guarantee NOBODY besides 16 year old faggots were offended. I doubt even GOM was offended. Public uproar probably pressured them to overreact. It's dumb.
I'd rather see a 6 probe rush over a 6pool. At least then it's entertaining. It's obvious that you didn't watch the game.
Guys, it seems that alot of you didn't watch this "probe rush", it was a pure A-move, no micro or anything. Immediate GG.

well GOMTV obvious got pissed that Naniwa did this as a respons to them not letting him forefit. Its childis, disrespectfull and just so unprofessional from GOMTV that you just can not belive it.
And I just wonder how they will rule all the future disrespect issues, like winner ceremonies, droping mules, building nexus, cc, hatch in base etc. Because that is disrespecting your opponent and GOMTV has now said that it will be punished with you getting kicked out.
Way to go GOMTV!!

They should've known that when they accept players from different cultures, they will also accept their ways of behaving (ofcourse to a certain extend). This is just such an ignorant move by GOMtv. Real champion my ass. A real champion would be embarrassed to go out of a tournament with zero wins. He would be happy that he had one more game to play, that he had one more chance to prove himself and get at least one win. Instead, he threw a temper tantrum, and took away Nestea's chance to get a legitimate win.

it's kind of hard, objectively, to disconnect the fact that he ragequit a game he should have just played out due to emotions from the fact that he's an emotional flake.
also, people are defending this because there's no reason to take offense to a company banning a player who was contracted to play a game and didn't. the logic is incredibly simple and I just have no idea how anyone could imagine otherwise.
now, a season ban? that's too harsh a punishment from my point of view, but GOM clearly wants to string him up as a warning to others to not come and fuck around in their league.
