While I understand that there's a need to discuss this matter, this thread has way too many trash posts in it. Please think carefully about what you want to say. Ad hominem attacks on Swedish people in general, calling you fellow Starcraft fans idiots etc etc will be dealt with with harsher punishment from here on out. Keep it civil people.

Page 230: Here's some more stuff that'll get you banned!
- Conspiracy theory mongering about MLG and GOM
- Comparing people to Hitler
- Posting useless one liners of arguments that have already been repeated ad nauseum.

This is just ridiculous. In other games such as counterstrike, where the teams in some tourneys HAS to play 30 rounds, even though the result will be decided after 16 rounds, they end up just using shit weapons and lolstrats <.<
Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why it is called the present.

i think its funny that so many people treat this as GSL disqualified naniwa from code S. This is NOT the case.
GSL decided to give the spot to Naniwa for FREE as a GIFT. Now Naniwa behaved bad so he wont get that present.

If Naniwa qualified through Code A qualifiers and managed to fight his way through Code A and the Up and Down matches, then sure it would be a bit too hard to take that hard-earned Code S spot away from him, but in this case its totally acceptable. They invite foreigners for FREE to their league so those foreigners who are so lucky to get a spot should at least behave in a way that is acceptable in korean culture.

He got it through his MLG seed due to Leenock being in Code S already... Man you need to get your facts right. What do you mean gift? It was a fucking done deal by GOM and MLG.

What he meant was Naniwa didn't have to go through the harsh journey of qualifying from Code-B up to Code-S but instead place decently high in a foreign tournament and obtained a FREE seed straight to Code-S

Yeah a player who's 1-12 in Korea (Naniwa, lol) is basically incomparable to someone who qualified into Code A, made it into up-and-downs, and made it into Code S.

If that translation of the rule is completely accurate, "offend" seems like a bit of a stretch compared to what went down and imo the rules shouldn't be open to that much interpretation.

I still don't understand why people are so mad about it.

Remebering TSLRain / FnaticRain ? He was disqualified from code S (or whole GSL) for 2 seasons just because of not showing up in the group drawings

Yes but those are important and worth something. Rain put GOM in an awkward position when he said he'd be there and then wasn't there.
Based on some of the things that have been said, NaNiwa told GOM he was going to forfeit the match because it was meaningless and they still put him out there to play that meaningless match, so GOM put themselves in that situation and then punished NaNiwa

Naniwa put GOM in that situation. He agreed to play all the games. He agreed to their rules. Then at the last minute he said "Fuck it I'm gonna throw this game" and GOM said you're going to play the game as you agreed to. They probably knew then they'd ban him if he did.

Naniwa did this to himself. He agreed to the terms. He didn't abide by the rules of the tournament (unfit for progamer rule). He got banned for it.

This is one of the most stupid things that I've seen, even against a colorful background of ESPORTS drama bullshit. I'm not going to argue about what Naniwa did at all, I don't think there is much of an argument to be had, but this really takes away the illusion of an international tournament that GSL tries to cultivate. In East Asia, appearances are the most important thing, even at the expense of the truly meaningful. Naniwa probably should have taken that into consideration, or had someone to tell him to consider it. What's bizarre is that this is giving GSL a far worse image than most things a player is capable of doing. Whoever's making decisions over there probably should have taken that into consideration or had people tell them about it. Actually, Gom seems like they need to have more people involved in their decision-making all the time.

So all the terrans who do 1-1-1 all-ins should be banned too?

He did break a rule of professional conduct written on Gom's website.
It is also arguably the most prestigious tournament to Koreans.

And btw, is NO ONE reacting to the fact that they woopsydaisy gave a Code S spot to SEN?

What in the hell is that?

You cant argue that this is good that GOM is treating foreigners like koreans, because if you think that treatment is even correct for a korean in the first place, GOM repeatedly treats other foreigners as above koreans with invites to play in Code A/S, so at the least they're not being consistent in the slightest.

he broke the rules and proved he doesn't deserve a spot. he's a child, not a professional

he can grow up and earn another spot in the future
