Mr.Chae has announced that they made Code S seeds for a professional minded pro-gamer not for an amateur prize money hunter

So lets say Nerchio win a Code S seed at a MLG, will they ban him preemptively?

I hope that the people being upset over this aren't the same people that were happy about CoCa getting banned. I find Naniwa's actions a lot more severe than Coca's (considering he had nothing to gain from that tourney too - with the difference that he got banned from the GSL for messing around in a small non GSL tourney, unlike Naniwa). Seriously, screwing up the possibly biggest production of gomtv for 2011 is just messed up.

I, as a european, would love to see europeans compete in the GSL, but not when it comes to players that have 0 sense of sportsmanship or dedication to the fans.

^ This should shut everyone up saying what they did was "right". in fact, it's not right at all if you think logically. everyone is just angry that they couldn't watch nestea vs. naniwa play in a straight up game lol.

GomTV was very lucky, and they're trying to tell people to buy a yearly pass. Next thing you know, people who 6 pool are getting kicked out of code s.

There is nothing wrong with this imo. They are setting the standars, and that is; everyone should act professional.. Throwing a game, no matter how pointless, is not very professional. This sport is getting so big, it is SO good GOM sets the standars. I guess something like this wont happen again, because of this situation, and GOM's punishment! And FINALLY nani gets punished for acting the way he does, he is a part of something bigger then him, stop acting like a selfish child and grow the fuck up.

All the people complaining about this are spoilt, immature children themselves. This is how the real world works - you can't just throw a tantrum and walk out of the office because your boss handed over a ton of paperwork on christmas eve and you really don't want to do it. You do your job, it is what your paid to do, Naniwa didn't do his job, and now he has been fired. Being a progamer is a privilage not a right, no matter how talented you may or may not be. The Koreans have the right attitude on this.

To me, the worst part of this is the way that GOM completely sidesteps any responsibility. When naniwa and Hero threw their games, it was due to the flawed format of the tournament. Having a bad tournament-system produces perverse incentives. We saw the result of that. GOM fails to acknowledge their own part in what has happened, and instead puts all blame on one player. That is not the way to do it.

Only Naniwa threw games. Hero played as well as he could. He didn't go 0-4 because he threw anything.

Did you see his game against DRG? He clearly did not play to win. The commentators mentioned it, and it was obvious in the reactions in the LR-thread.

It didn't look like Hero threw the game at all...just bad decision to cannon and risky sentry drop since he was already so far behind. I think the fact that Nani probe rushed and actually took his hands off the keyboard and made no effort to even micro was throwing the game and thats just not acceptable at all.

Coca threw his game and has been kicked out of Code S and all other tournaments indefinitely...While I think the ban was pretty harsh, Nani getting banned for one season isn't as bad.

Like most people have said in Korea respect is everything and foreigners have to be mindful of that.

Not a fan of the decision, I wasn't happy with what Naniwa did but he didn't break any rules and I don't think he deserves this.

I will still watch the GSL though, this isn't enough to not make me want to, but I still don't like being able to punish players this severely for essentially a break of etiquette, not rules.

Who is this shady chae figure? Everyone time I hear about him, he's up to no good. Meanwhile, they keep Idra in the GSL :|. Does not compute.

naniwa may act like a child, but to question his motivation and call him an amateur prize money hunter is a low blow from GOM. he is arguably the most dedicated foreigner in the scene.

A better comparison would be if their players just stood still and let the other team score infinite goals.

so wait a second, the way a player plays the game can offend the audience? In that case, I was really offended when Idra all-in Idra on Jungle Basin.

So if Naniwa still gets Code S, every pro-gamer can have the choice to wroker rush whenever they want? Hey bro, this game meant nothing to me so let put our workers in the middle of the map and get this over quick. I support GOM. Naniwa can just proxy gateway and throw games. Their commentators can twist it into something exciting, not some fucking probe rush.

Why did they even accept Stephano then? Stephano is only playing to make as much money as he can in a year that is pretty prize money hunter to me...

More like a team just walks out of the stadium as soon as the game starts.

This behaviour had to have consequences. Naniwa was way too disrespectful and unprofessional to just let him go with this. You have to consider that viewers paid to see this game and how it is impossible to run a smooth show when you got to expect stuff like this to happen. Naniwa put a very bad light on the whole cup.

But a complete ban? Seems over the top.

There is a rule about players' behaviours, whether Naniwa broke it or not is up to your discussion

Warning or disqualification

This need to be quoted, as 50% of the posts still are "he was disrespectful, but didn't break any rules".
A source for this would be good though.

Personally I really don't like the way nani behaves in general and am happy on a personal level if he gets punished. Anti-fan here, sorry. But I also feels that GOM would damage themselves if they start handing bans out without it being really clear from the rules. So I'm a bit split on this issue.

Of course not. The reason he is unfit is because he a-moved the probes and took his hands off the keyboard.

If it was a viable strategy like a 6pool, or a cannon rush, it would not have resulted in a ban.

I dont think I've ever seen opinions so evenly split on tl. Usually it's one-sided outrage. Cool to see

On topic: I think it's well deserved. Naniwa essentially just lost an invitation to code S, nothing more. And to throw a game like that is just plain immature. He basically threw a tantrum in-game.

Further, as a competitor, where's his competitive spirit? It's hard to show support for someone when they appear to have no "passion".
