Please keep this thread on topic. It's ok to discuss the professionalism of what happened, but don't turn this thread into personal attacks or it will be closed.

It's the fault of the tournament. The goal should be to reduce useless games, but the BC went with a simple round robin system. It would have been a service to nobody if they simply played a game half-assed.

People that want him to be punished for this are fucking stupid.
He'd just lost 3 games, he was out of the tournament, as was Nestea. The outcome of the match had no effect on the rest of the tournament.
That isn't fucking match-fixing... if he wants to probe rush, he's well within his rights. Sure it sucks for the viewers, but from his perspective, he's probably pissed off at himself after losing the other games, why should he be forced to play what is essentially just a showmatch?

I really don't see why you're all so upset. He played the game, he tried his best with the strategy he had in mind, sadly it didn't work. He still had manners to gg at the end. If anyone else would cheese and failed, none of you would rage at him or even post anything about it. Smells like double standards.

If we exclude bronze league, I'm pretty sure no person has ever won a game by 7 probe rushing a Zerg player.

It may have been unprofessional, but it WAS Entertaining.
He did earn his spot, he still typed "gg". People saying he's screwed every viewer over must have forgotten about the other 3 games he played.
Personally, i'll remember the probe rush longer than any other game that was played tonight, it wasnt done to insult anyone, he did it to skip the formalities and finish sooner.

Seriously, it might not have been the most "Honorable" thing, but i dont think its comparable to spitting in goms face or anything.
Chill guys. ^_^

I see where you are coming from, but voting against oneself is illegal.
So I'm not exactly sure why you are bringing this up as an argument...

As it turns out, Nestea was about to 6-pool anyway. That's pretty classy, huh?

Of course it's illegal... but it's definitely not hard at all to do it (ask a friend, etc)

But whatever it is, this is a minor point from me, the kicker (I'm Asian as well) is the insult to the Koreans who are a proud and honest people. They take moral virtues very seriously, and Naniwa just completely disrespected their culture.

That's retarded.
Korean culture disapproves of probe rushing in useless games, but approves of 6-pooling in useless games. Sure, why not.
Korean's certainly approve of cheesing. That's the only way Leenock can win, and everybody is jumping on the Leenock bandwagon now.

Your creating issues where issues don't exist. There isn't an issue with professional SC2 players betting against themselves and throwing games. It just doesn't exist right now. Do you think somebody will see Naniwa's probe rush then have an epiphany?

"Oh shit! I can totally cheat!"

Except 6 pool is a valid strategy and can beat greedy builds. Worker rush on the other hand, anyone that gotten pass the bronze league would of learned to how to deal with it, so in the professional scene, there is literally 0% chance to win with it, hence you are literally throwing away the game.

Throwing away game =/= Cheese... people need to understand this point

It's funny how the exact same arguement is being thrown around the SC2 community when it comes to 6pool.

All other situations people call 6pool a cheese and how everyone above gold can defend it, but all of a sudden it's a legit strategy lol

I can list many many scenarios and situations that a 6 pool can win games even in a professional tournament setting, but I doubt you would want to read that long of a post.

However, I guarantee you that you won't be able to name a single scenario that worker rushing will win a game in a legit professional tournament...

Point is, 6 pool is a cheese, worker rush is intentionally throwing away your game. There is a difference.

Morrow beat strelok with a worker rush!

Very appreciated input. Such a crazy amount of overreacting just because it's nani...

how can anyone even think the game would have been good when it didn't matter the slightest?

This is a fun fact; thanks for noting it.

Poor Quantic.

When will these "pros" learn that being a professional is more than winning (it's winning, but it's more).

You know what is funny? He complained that Catz had the same treatment than him or something like that, right? It seems he really don't understand how a sport becomes a business, how is that possible to be "pros" in this game. Hope the people from Quantic do something about it, because it upsets me that people that PAYED have one less game to watch, just because he decided not to play.

Edit: I don't care about the winner, but the games. If Leenock loses, I will still want to watch his games. But if he loses by 6 pooling I might reconsider if he is worth my time/money next time. Do you guys watch it just for results or because you want good games? =/

It sounds like you're mad you didn't get your karma. How often have you seen a probe rush work? How about a 6 pool? It's obvious that Naniwa was throwing the game whereas 6 pool is a viable strategy against greedy players

What people have to remember is that in the GSL, if two people are eliminated, they arent forced to play each other further for show-match purposes however this i the Blizzard Cup, this isnt a qualifier for a tournament for a tournament where they're supposed to be showcasing their skills, playing all games with their passion for the game and showing what a champion is all about through both their games...and their conduct...As I said before...the problem isnt as big as what he did..but where he did it, and who he did it against....that stirs up so much contrversy...

Games like that cannot be avoided with certain formats. The choices tournaments make are often give-and-take and depend upon the professionalism of players and their teams. When people like Naniwa do what they do it undermines the system of trust (sports is all about trust, and the perception that what occurs is above board) and organizers, fans, and fellow pros have every right to be upset.

...The real repercussions is with the Koreans. Most foreigners don't give a fuck. The Koreans do. You just metaphorically spit on one of their players. Foreigners need to learn about Asian pride, especially within their own country and cultures. It's not the USA, or Europe. Asians take this as a collective affront to their image.

If you don't understand the lack of professionalism (especially since he JUST moved to a new team who BOUGHT his contract) then nobody will be able to explain it to you.

Imagine you paid to go to an olympic soccer game. Neither team had any chance of advancing into the playoffs. They both just walked onto the field, kicked the ball into play, and walked off. Would you be pretty angry? I think so. I paid to see the Blizzard Cup, and the fact that Naniwa spat in my face because of his pride is disgusting. I always thought his attitude was pretty bad, but this brings it to another level. While before I wasn't a fan, now I am an anti-fan.

lol this happens all thie time in proffessional fotball. In matches that don't mean anything they will not use their star players. And the games are generally very lame and boring, as no one is giving it their very best.

you don't watch football, i can tell

are we talking american football or real soccer football. because in soccer it happens all the time and games will be boooooooooring.

english football, yes what did they recieve if they didn't play seriously? a massive shitstorm, and there have been cases when Arsenal didn't have any chance of winning but still kicking ass MU and Liverpool (two champions contenders)

huh you mean MU vs arsenal? in that case, it was because MU misunderestimated, not because they had nothing much to gain from it.

honestly why are people compared football with the game?

point in case,
in a league, so many teams are out of the running of winning the title (mathematically) midway into the season.

it is not common for people in competitive sports to throw games. It happens but its not common and rightfully so, they will be criticised about it.

Those teams that do not have a chance to win the title still play out their games.
