you probably dont get what he meant, liking something doesnt exactly mean it has to be comfortable, for example someone likes challange (having to macro/micro etc), other one likes to play without too much stress. See? They both like.

Sc2 has flaws, and as a game, BW is more balanced, less volatile and is much harder mechanically. Clearly there are aspects of BW which they want in sc2, because sc2 is not perfect. People want the sequel of the best competitive game ever to be even better, and so to achieve this, you should see what worked before and utilize it.

i've said this before but what i remember from sc1 (didnt really made the transition to BW, i didn't like it) is that it was played pretty much like how WoL is played now. Shortly after sc2's release i watched some BW final that was happening around the same time and i couldn't understand what was going on; the game had changed so much about how it was played. so yeah, as some have mentioned before, it's mostly nostalgia talking.

For some, like me, it's just preference. For others, probably like the guy you talked to in that chat, it's just a lame hipster attitude.
I like bw because it thrills me like no other game is able to. I don't mind if you like sc2 better, as long as you have a better reason than "it's newer, it's prettier".

I have a problem with people who respond to anyone who suggests improvements to starcraft 2 by drawing on experience learnt from broodwar with "just go play broodwar then". Broodwar has over a decade of development, testing and a thousand highly experienced RTS veterans from which to draw knowledge and lessons. It is a mature game with complex theories forged through years of competitive play. Starcraft 2 should be looking to this as a source from which to draw ideas, or as a foundation from which to develop. It is frankly stupid beyond belief, first, to dismiss the success of broodwar as mere nostalgia and second, to proclaim that 'starcraft 2 is a new game' without any reference to how starcraft 2 came to be.
