I dont think that any backlash against ret lasted very long. I remember not caring so much at the time. (iirc he took a girl back to the netherlands with him from MLG, I think it might have been a fans GF or something) I dont really remember the whole story, but I remember not caring all that much, and I dont think most people did either. My point is just that men and women are held to different standards when it comes to promiscuity, and "Celebrities" (For the sake of argument lets call Ret a celebrity) are held to an entirely different standard.

Well I don't see anyone (extensively) making fun of Milkies or Riku for their past drama. This is going so much further than it needs to. Just ban trolls/internet misogynists and move on imo.

Yes we would.
In case Jinro or TLO or somebody on TL pulled something like this out and was blatantly public about it (which they wouldn't do anyway), it's be silly to believe there would be no response from the fans. Ret received some flak for that MLG Columbus thing even though it was nowhere near as bad.
PS. Idra knows how relevant personality is probably more than any other player, and he's milking it to the max. What people say and what people think are not always the same thing.

It's not that easy to attain the Rekrul status in this community.
Besides, I wasn't aware he was that known for "screwing hookers" as he seems to be a little classier than that. You might be reading too much into his lifestyle.
Obviously I don't know shit about him, but based on what he posts here I wouldn't say he's known for screwing hookers. -_-

I don't know about this particular case but "slut shaming" (rofl what a way to put it) doesn't really bother me. I'm not going to encourage it though but I'm allowed to feel a certain way about people that act a certain way.
People that are overly promiscuous don't really sit well with me, girl or guy, at a video game tournament or not. It's just a question of morals for me. I'm not going to go judge people 1 by 1 because I know it's the standard these days but that doesn't mean I need to accept their choice; just tolerate it.
It still bothers me when people flaunt it, like certain bloggers on this site. It bothers me in real life too. I leave them alone but I certainly don't want to end up with a girl like that.
I know I hold unpopular beliefs amongst my generation but I'd rather be unpopular than lie to myself and say I agree with how people act.

Maybe not on TL, but Kelly gets a lot of shit on Reddit. Then again, everyone on Reddit gets/gives shit to everyone else. But trolls and misogynists really do ruin sites, and when it is over something like this... just move on :/ But thanks for bringing it to attention OP.
EDIT: <3 for Probe1

Fair point from both of you. The internet is generally a shitty place for XX. I only read reddit when someone links something so I'm in no position to comment on the treatment of women there.

Just a boatload of nonsense. Nerds need to start treating the fairer sex with some respect. With that said, this really isn't representative of Team Liquid in general.
And with THAT said, that chick shouldn't have made out with a bunch of dudes if she knew someone with a huge crush on her was planning on meeting up at IEM. I mean, wouldn't she know just by common sense that she'd crush the guy's heart? It's just a shitty thing to do IF SHE MADE PLANS.
If she didn't make plans, then who cares? Make out with every guy in the building if you want.
Edit: Now that I think about it, I don't care either way. I'm not a promiscuous person, but if someone else want to be it's their body, their choice.

There's a lot of groupies out there - avoid them.

So if "nerds" also look down upon what most of society also looks down upon, "we" are in the wrong? That's plain retarded.
If she wasn't involved in eSports, and she walked into a football game for example and did the same thing, you'd get the same if not even worse response from people involved/watching.

Even if it doesn't reflect the viewpoint of the majority of our community, it definitely stands out that most of them can't be fucked to defend another human being from this kind of treatment. :/ When you hear this really vocal minority? and nothing else, it's really easy to feel like everyone else probably agrees. It's depressing.
Thanks for making this blog. <3
I understand how you feel. I will now always take the time to condemn their flawed thinking. People can't dress like sluts. Promiscuity isn't a disease.

I repeatedly want to bring up the attitudes a lot of men seem to have on the Internet towards women (and how it seems more and more often to be spreading to real life) but I realised that I'm probably becoming cynical so I've realised on TL especially it's just too depressing to try to reason with these people - and I could right an entire essay on the issues on how women are treated by the TL community. Edit: I feel I should add - though it's probably obvious - I don't mean every single man on TL.
On the Internet in general aswell though, self proclaimed male right's activists (most of whom have no legitimate claim to that term and only harm the important efforts that are actually needed) seem to be creating a very disturbing world view in male dominated spaces.
Spending a lot of time online I have to say I more often find myself wondering how many men are actually thinking like this in real life too? I'm still sure it's mostly just teenagers online but it's still kinda sad.

I know I hold unpopular beliefs amongst my generation but I'd rather be unpopular than lie to myself and say I agree with how people act. That isn't the issue at hand. The issue is that when someone said, "why does no one care when one of the male figures sleeps around, but when one of the female figures do the community at large is so quick to throw the epitaph, 'slut'?", someone else replied with, "well, men and women are different so saying such a thing isn't inherently wrong, you're just being politically correct", which is just completely fucking absurd and doesn't even address the question in a coherent way at all.

Not to be harsh, but this is more of a problem with society itself and how it perceives these kinds of people, unfortunately debating this is going to be futile.

Do people actually believe that stuff or are they just trying to piss me off?

hey thanks to your OP which has given a really shitty and (dare i say) biased account of the situation, there are now as many pitchforks in the thread replies as in the OP itself
