Ok so I just got disconnected from my game and was told my account was suspended. I immediately am thinking "What the heck? I haven't even done anything...how did I get suspended?"
I promptly went to my e-mail and saw that they suspended me for calling somebody a "faggot" like 10 minutes earlier after the kid cussed me out.
So Blizzard bans for the word faggot now? Can I start reporting everybody every game? Cause I have been called names like that and worst and reported them and never got banned.
I got really scared because I'll be playing at MLG Orlando and don't have another account but luckily it's just a 24 hour suspension. I guess when I get cussed out from now on I can't retaliate..ever. LOL.

Once I called a total stranger on an online game a derogatory slur after being picked on. I felt good about myself after that but moments later I was suspended from the online game for supposedly defending myself against the bully. Now I can't play because I spent the money I could've used on another account to play at a LAN so I got nothing better to do than complain about support for doing its job.

Isn't being banned kinda hard to achieve normally? I mean if you get banned, it's deserved I guess, Blizzard doesn't ban for bad behavior easily. So I can't see how you could make your bannable behavior that funny.

As someone who had to deal with things like that all day for several months (for another online game) I have absolutely no sympathy for you. There's absolutely no reason to use that sort of language.
This topic is doomed for failure as if Blizzard's system is anything like the company I worked then there's not going to be anything funny about bans or suspensions as they're all deserved and certain trigger words that will get you in trouble no matter what. Knowing what I do about Blizzards System (I know several people who used to work for blizzard) that is indeed the case.

I'm trying to become a pro-gamer actually...but that's another story. I'm Masters and will be at MLG Orlando. But I don't wish to discuss my ventures with this game...Also who reads the terms? I know you didn't and neither did anybody else playing this game.
Also way to use the suspended as a cheap shot insult that doesn't insult me in anyway. I don't play this game a lot on the weekends and I'm suspended until Sunday night so it doesn't bother me.

I feel like there is a generational gap here or something... In highschool, people call each other faggots all the time, and most of the time, its just a mock insult when you and your friend are playing around. I have used mean words but i don't expect a ban when it was needed, everyone gets frustrated and some people let it out this way. Yeah I feel Blizzard doesn't really look at reports...they probably have certain words like faggot on a list and auto suspend anybody using them if they get reported. But they don't care about cuss words.

"Faggot" is infinitely worse than those words (at least in my opinion), it's discriminating and offensive there is absolutely no reason to use it. But as I said if you report him then Blizzard will look into it, you have no way of knowing if they've taken action based on that.

I went to public schools infact I went to a "hick" school as a latin student, the amount of times I was called a beaner or the likes was fairly small, except for the small crowd who act like you. Then why include the line that we did a thorough investigation and not just say "We read the in game chat". Blizzard is a complete joke with bans. BM happens every day and bans won't stop it. Blizzard is a joke for banning for some words and not others.

So let's reread this. I didn't say anything about what kind of investigation one needs to make sure one line of text is in violation of some set of (laughable) rules you use to moderate your gaming service. I happen to agree, a thorough investigation would seem overboard in any event.
If you don't need a thorough investigation to verify that one line someone said on the internet contained the word "faggot," it doesn't make sense to represent the fact that you saw the word and clicked 24 hour suspension as a thorough investigation. That's the point and the joke.

As I said previously in this thread there is very very unlikely to be such a thing as a "funny" ban or suspension as they're not just handed out for nothing. Offensive language, telling people to kill themselves, threatening to kill people etc. are not funny and thus this thread was doomed to fail from the very start. You managed to provide an excellent example of this in your opening post and there's not been a single funny example provided thus far.

Thorough in context means they looked at logs and found evidence of the claims against you. Thorough does not always imply "omg check every game hes ever played".
They thoroughly checked the reported gameand claim and found you in the wrong. I see no problem with there action. I've even been banned for such actions and agreed with there approach. Even if I was mad about the ban.

Goodnight everybody. Seriously TL Mods...where are you? This thread should have been closed an hour ago...as soon as somebody said I shouldn't have made it. I tried for it to be a good thread but it got ruined very fast and now nobody is taking it seriously and it isn't even closed yet? If I wake up in the morning and this is still here I will seriously be surprised.

It really isn't that bad. What made this thread bad was the huge derailment about whether this should be a thread or not. This isn't the first time this has happened, people need to stop trying to backseat mod and just not post if they dislike the thread contents and want to argue for pages about how right their conclusion is. Report it if you find something about it in violation of the rules, don't derail it into oblivion in an attempt to prove the thread is bad. If it's a bad thread, it doesn't need you making it worse.

I've never gotten into trouble in any Blizz games, but I had some fun with GMs on an Ultima Online shard I used to play on. One of the rules of the server was one account per IP but I suffered from Diablo 2 syndrome at the time so I wanted more than 5 toons. Everytime I made a new account I'd get PMed by a GM telling me that another account was already associated with my IP and I needed a good reason or else face the banhammer.
So naturally I made up some BS excuse like the other account belonged to my brother and so on. Next thing I know I have 7 accounts belonging to my fictitious family and was starting to get bored of the game. I started releasing dragons in town on toons that didn't have high enough taming skill, writing foul language out in the newbie donation boxes, ect. Really immature crap in hindsight I'm not really proud of.
Anytime one of my accounts would get banned for these offenses I'd log on to one of my other accounts and pretend I was the person's brother/sister/dad who had hijacked the account because they were mad at the person. I'd plead my case and the GMs would unban me eventually.
One day I logged in and my main was in a jail cell with nothing but a blanket on the ground and a bar of soap. I logged around and all my toons on every account were in some kind of player prison. All my characters were stripped of all their gear and items, but a few of them had a single item in their inventory. It was a book that read "We've built a new home for your wonderful family."
I thought getting owned that hard by a GM staff was pretty hilarious.

Maybe if Blizzard wasn't discriminatory in their justice I would agree with your bold opinion, but they aren't and are very inconsistent in behavioral moderation. Sometimes it's humorous, other times it isn't. Even under a perfect disciplinary system though, some bans might be considered humorous by nature.
The fact that no one has managed to provide an example that you specifically found funny shows absolutely nothing except that your sense of humor is very different from several people who have posted in this thread.

To get the thread back on track:
My cstrike 1.6 team was playing in a cal-m playoff match against a team with a known admin smurfing on it. I take off my pants and take a giant dump all over their faces CTside train, dropping 28. They end up losing 16-4. Right after the match, two of the other guys (not including the admin) come into our IRC channel and start BMing hard, and to no surprise of mine it turns out I got appealed for my demo. Send in demo, get banned for "cheating" literally 22 minutes later (didn't have time to watch the demo, rofl), forever alone.
As much as cal held up that community, god those admins were dbags

about 3 years ago when i decided to stop playing WoW (after burning crusade), i decided to see what it was like to hack a little. I went to the top of one of the continents, turned on this random speed hack, reached the other end of the whole place in 5 seconds flat, stop moving, disconnected. Banned for 3 days. Was a fun 5 seconds tho! Jumping was intense. Was a quality way to leave. Other than that i really have no other offenses on record =o
