+1 internetz. Cmon people, respect the players decisions. If this is true and Huk signs with EG it's for a reason. More money maybe? All you hipster dudes and your "Awww they went mainstream so I don't like them anymore" attitudes need to grow the F up and be happy that your fav player/team is doing better and succeeding. Every one of you would take more money to continue doing what you love.
If people want eSports to be treated legitimately you can't expect this utopian sort of behaviour. I would've boo'd Brett Favre when he played for the Vikings.
Because he went to the Vikings for more money obviously. More like, he went to the Vikings because the team he played for originally forced him out to make way for their younger Quarterback, and he couldn't go back to New York because of the minor PR disasters that happened there. If you want to use your analogy, it would be Liquid telling HuK to make way for Hero and that HuK should retire. HuK doesn't want to retire so he goes to EG, maybe through a smaller team along the way.
Back on the original topic, I don't have a ton of respect for the EG organization as it is right now, but I respect the players they have on their StarCraft 2 team. If HuK ended up going to EG, I would probably dislike the EG organization even more, but I would continue to support their players
I still dont get the attitude of hating teams that actually try to get better players.
its not hating on teams wanting to get better players, it just leaves a bad taste in ones mouth when several teams each have a really good player who practised on the team for months before becoming good, then within a month or two of breaking out, some big money team comes and buys them all. the people who have been fans of the team for ages and followed that player as he got slowly better are left with a bit of a bad taste in their mouth.

We know EG plans to make an announcement about something that may or may not be related to sc2 at all.
Theories: - Nothing screams cool kid coding like latin and distorted audio. - Backwards text is an efficient form of hiding data. - EG members find this highly amusing and are trolling people. - md5 hashes are very important.
About the actual announcement: Personally I feel the EGtGun theory has the most weight behind it. Just translate the 5th paragraph from Idra's first interview to latin, let google translate translate latin-> greek-> spanish -> latin. Write the first half of this text backwards and replace q with g, rot13 the whole thing and take md5. It should now be obvious.
One of the most intelligent posts in this thread. Why people are behaving like little school children about this I don't know. It's not even as good as Dan Brown. Go read the Da Vinci Code instead?
What first idra interview is this guy talking about? THIS MIGHT BE THE ANSWER!

Don't have to be mannered. Just don't be a fuckin dick. I'd like to think that StarCraft crowds are more civilised than Football crowds. Seeing Cruncher getting booed was so painful, it hurt even more when Idra denied the handshake twice...
It sucks, but yeah, even home teams boo a terrible performance from a starting pitcher sometimes. It is the nature of sports and it happens, at long as there is a reason. What I hate it someone booing someone else just because "they don't like him".
MY POINT EXACTLY! That last part summed up what I tried to say. If you don't like him, or his decision. Move along. I have heard boo's because of bad calls or poor sportsmanship such as a glove being thrown at another player to incite an outburst, but those are completely different situations. And whoever brought up HOckey.... REALLY? The sport isn't about the overcooked biscuit, it's about the fights and the complete bad mannerism. So don't try to compare the two.

Not booing anyone and respecting everyone's decisions is utopian in my opinion. Everyone wants it cos "it'll further the growth of esports and sportsmanship and support is the most important thing yaaaay". But reality is, there will always be fanboys.
Embrace it.
That's ridiculous. You are misunderstanding... the only people that still think its EGHuK are trolls and idiots.... don't buy into it.
I wouldn't say that. While nothing's final, EGHuk is by far the most likely option among the ones discussed so far. Like it or not (and I really don't like it), for now it fits with almost all the available evidence.

I just don't see it being better for his career unless he's making some serious loot. Living in one of the 3 best teams in the worlds house and practicing with some of the legends of Starcraft is worth a lot of money.

All of you who are citing other sports for your case for booing players need to recognize that SC2 is primarily a 1v1 / solo game. Just like many other games and sports that are primarily solo (Golf, tennis, poker, etc) it is almost unheard of to boo anybody. In the face of a six figure contract, nothing else matters. Many people dislike EG for multiple reasons and they're just butt hurt that TL's premiere player just might leave for a team that they resent. However, the fact is that EG most likely can offer HuK more money than TL ever could at the moment. EG has built up so many sponsors over the years they can make acquisitions like this.
If you're a true HuK fan you will respect any decision that he makes. If HuK feel's hes better off on a team like EG, then by all means he should pursue it. Would I prefer if HuK stays on liquid? Yes, without a doubt. However at the end of the day, it's all about what's best for the players we support and I would welcome HuK's decision with a supportive and open mind.

its not really fair to huk if he was approached with a 6 figure contract or something like that. teamliquid doesnt have the same sponsor backing eg does so if his current contract is say $40k a year and he is aproached with an offer of $120k a year from eg, then its not fair to expect him to say no, especially with a career like a progamer where so many players barely get enough to live on.
if this is the case i just think its kind of bad taste from eg, going around sniping the best players off different teams.

I love Huk because of this-
I knew he and TLO were two of my favorite players right there, because they seemed like not only teammates, but good friends. I just think it would really hurt everyone on his team if he decided to leave for their "rival" of sorts.
By the way, even if this whole announcement isn't about Huk, how much do you think he's LOVING this thread? :D

IMO sc2 is much more versatile a competitive sport then boxing and MMA. true 1v1 tournies such as mlg and GSL might seem like good comparisons to those sports but I feel team league adds an entire new sport so to speak to sc2.

Yeah lets compare esports crowds to golf, tennis and poker crowds... Seriously you are comparing rich white man games to esports? An esports crowd is much closer to a football crowd than a golf one.
