mixing in all-ins and aggression is not gimmicky
if you think that's all they are you clearly weren't watching all the games

So I am coming from the angle on whether their style or skill can last. IMO I don't think so. lol? seriously? the way in which july and losira did so well in their recent tournaments wasn't based on some overpowered gimmick like scv all ins that rain pulled off in s3 they won with everything and a variety of things including all-ins, aggression, macro, and just straight up outplaying their opponents each of the way through being safe and predictable hurts more than helps once you become well-known, and that's why idra and nestea are on the decline July and Losira are pretty gimmicky imo. mixing in all-ins and aggression is not gimmicky if you think that's all they are you clearly weren't watching all the games

We're now going off topic and falling off the trail. There's nothing wrong with having a few gimmicky strategies in your arsenal. We've seen consistent macro players play well in tournaments. Specifically in GSL, we've seen players like Idra, nada, jinro play very few gimmicky strategies and pull out decently consistent results. But that's the thing. Having a few tricks up your sleeves is what pushes you to the next level. I can't find the quote from Idra right now about risk taking but taking risks is what pushes you above the rest. It's why Mvp,Mc,marine king, etc are able to push up to the top so often. They take risks which pay off. Safe play will only get you so far. Again I'm completely going off topic in this thread but I felt like I needed to point this out.

Until he pulls a Fruitdealer he's gotta be top. Losira is looking to be like another zerg all-star. I'm not too impressed with July, his SC2 play hasn't been terrible but (imo) it hasn't been anything amazing, either. Idra is still a boss but as a huge fan I still hate his attitude, I wish he wouldn't GG instantly (the MLG match vs Huk is proof of it) before he lets it play out. Ret is one of my favorite players, I'm a huge fan but I can't honestly say he's up there with the top Zergs in the world right now. I'm fans of all of these players, I'd love to see Idra and Ret start dominating but like I said, I can't see anyone taking Nestea's place at the moment.

he beat one not so great player and then lost right after to a not so great player he's probably the new Seed except even worse because he's only won 1 game in his televised career

I think it's empty, Nestea hasn't been dominating at all recently either. July is the closest right now, but his still is in my opinion pretty unstable and once people adjust and play super safe he'll have trouble. He always relies with people getting lazy, cutting corners and him finding a way to punish. It's super impressive but we saw how it played out with MC who just made a ton of units and fucked him up instead of getting cute. July lost to a 6 gate too. How pro do you have to be to get burrow when your lair finishes? Disappointing Zergs... I think Sheth is on the road to becoming a top zerg.

GSL spoilers: + Show Spoiler + Hopefully Losira can iron out his new interesting PvZ style. I was so happy he wasn't eliminated yesterday, that game on xel'naga fortress was really weird. I feel like if he micro'd better he could've won, but I dunno I have to rewatch it. Nestea is good, but I rarely get to see him play these days and nothing he's done recently has really been all that impressive so I'm not sure. July is obviously great as well. I'd love to see him take GSL May especially now that MC is out. If July wins GSL May, then I'd have to hand the throne over to him. NASL spoilers: + Show Spoiler + However is really poor showing against ensnare in the NASL today worries me. Really though, to me the throne goes to the first zerg who can show everyone how to win consistently in ZvP. Idra's play recently has me thinking that he's on the right track as far as figuring it out goes. Either way I'm just excited to see how Zergs adapt to recent challenges.

NesTea's a good player, but he's only getting older, I don't really think he can push himself so much anymore.

No offense to idra, but I think his influence might be a bit of the reason why zerg is a bit stagnant. He's so good, he gets away with a lot of stuff and reacts appropriately, but the players mimicking him, just see the top layer of his decision making, don't react right and then act like he does when he looses. Imo July has brought a lot more positive attitude to the zerg race, though I can't say I'm loving the econ bling busts ![]()
