Any bets on it being Warcraft IV. As already stated in the article, Blizzard currently have Titan, Diablo 3, HOTS, LOTV and a number of expansions for WoW and Diablo 3. That pretty much leaves every Blizzard franchise covered except the Warcraft RTS. I cannot imagine Blizz will take risk on two new franchises at the same time with everything else that is going on with them. The odds of this being another new IP with Titan already taking care of that is 1 in a million.
Also, thanks to some news that came out earlier, we pretty much know that Warcraft IV is in the pipelines. That got leaked when Blizzard said that Warcraft IV will have a similar structure to Starcraft II.
I personally so badly want it to be Warcraft IV. Warcraft III is one of my favorite games of all time and that is despite me not playing online at all. It was just campaign and skirmishes and I had the sickest time of my life with that game.
It had, and still has, arguably the best campaign to grace any RTS in terms of story and gameplay. I will have massive boners if and when Blizzard announce Warcraft IV. It will be the kind of boners people got in Korea when SC2 was announced.
I really want to believe for WC4, after 6 years of WC3 it would be really nice, but I just can't seem them making it anytime soon with SC2 out, and its expansions
I would love for Blizzard to make another Warcraft RTS/RTT game where they experiment with new stuff like they did with WC3 and with SC2 and D3 being extremely back-to-basic having 1 experimental game seems reasonable.
However I think this job posting is simply an expansion or something like that, or possibly another non-MMO game set in the same game universe as their new "Titan" MMO that would help to establish it as a new franchise next to their 3 current ones. I'm really skeptical that Activision would allow another classic really fun and long lasting game like WC3 to be made when they really want a quick cash-in from the brand and franchise name power.
I don't see a need for a new warcraft RTS at least until SC2's expansions have been released and out for a couple of years. It's more likely they are going to go into new directions with FPS or other types of games.
I really hope it's an RTS. Blizzard are comparitively so good at RTS games I'd love to sink my teeth into another. If they could take some Starcraft style expertise into Warcraft I really feel it's the better game. The idea of a single hero leading an immense army is incredibly awesome to me they just haven't quite found the balance yet in their previous titles but it's certainly possible.
They might be hiring for Titan or future expansions for D3 and SC2. But if they will make Warcraft 4 i hope they remove the hero mechanic or atleast dont make heroes so important. I loved WC3 but the fact that you have to be nonstop creeping and leveling your hero really ruined it for me :S
SC2 isn't even done yet as it's missing two expansions; I doubt they want War4 to come out and directly compete against SC2. I mean, SC2 did the unthinkable and 'merged' the two communities to an extent. Although given Blizzard's history of development cycles, chances are if it's War4 we won't even see screenshots for many, many years; by then SC2's third expansion should be out and its competitive base largely stable.
It seems insane to release War4 with SC2 still ongoing thus splitting your userbase. It might be simply be an adaptation of a current game. E.G Wow-Brazil or an extension of an existing I.P.
I'm thinking that the unannounced game is the mysterious Titan that's been in the works forever. I mean, I wouldn't consider it officially "announced" yet, as we know next to nothing about the game, and "Titan" itself is probably only a code name.

Releasing a War4 might see potential, there's a big big amount of people out there who are mighty fans of the Warcraf lore (Going back to the wc1/wc2 times and now with WoW as well) and would probably buy it even if they've never touched SC2 before. Also, I wouldnt think that the two games would necessarily split the userbase, but rather futher expand it to reach out to more people.
But, knowing Blizzard all too well, and given the +10 years of time that they usually put up between their titles...well we'll see. I'd die of happiness if Wc4 was announced though. But on the realistic side of things, not likely.
I have no idea what they could possibly cover in WC4 that is left in the warcraft universe that has been left untouched by WoW...anyone have any guesses?
I'm hoping the mystery project is for the SC2 project codenamed Phoenix and that the Phoenix project will actually be a re-vamped SC Ghost game. Cleverly nicknamed Phoenix because it will rise from the ashes ;p.

And everyone saying that it's Titan, READ the article. It says the job listing is specifically hiring for a new game NOT Titan
I still think it's Titan regardless of what that article says, Blizzard is probably just trying to act sneaky.

Yeh, I actually followed up on the article and looked at the rest of the listings in the directory. Gamespot has a history of writing sneaky and misleading news. There really isn't any concrete evidence saying that this new unannounced title isn't Titan.

They could do it just to appeal to users that do not like SC2... Seems farfetched but you never know.

This. x1000
I remember getting so mad when I was like 12 and I read about World of Warcraft being developed in a gamer magazine. I was like "WHERE IS WORLD OF STARCRAFT?" I naturally liked starcraft better than wc2.
I want it to be starcraft Ghost. I still remember that the first time I saw that video. ((Cant post link as im at work)) But Youtube Starcraft Ghost if you dont know what Im talking about.
I thought I read an article that mentioned WC4 wouldn't be thought of until the SC2 expansions are done. A bunch of the WC3 team is part of the SC2 team right? So that means Blizzard probably has 1 RTS team, and if they are going to start working on WC4 it probably wouldn't start until late 2012/early 2013 when LotV is close to being completed.
If it's a Starcraft RPG, wouldn't Starcraft have to end at SC2 as an RTS? Since the RPG would build up on the story and etc. No reason to have 300 APM for a game like that -_-
And that's what I'm also thinking about WoW and WC4. From what I've heard, WoW is a continuation on the lore from WC3. Unless Blizzard wants to slaughter their money maker and soul stealer, I can't really see WC4 coming out.

Frank Pearce - Blizzard co-founder :
“If there’s a team that’s passionate about doing another WarCraft RTS, then that’s definitely something we would consider,” he said.
“It’s nothing that we’re working on right now,” Pearce assured.
“We have development teams working on Wrath of the Lich King, StarCraft II, Diablo III, and when those teams are all off the projects they’re working on, they’ll be intimately involved in the the discussions about what’s next.”
I'm not saying you're wrong, but I never read anywhere that they wouldn't do it, and the quote above would confirm that they never said there wouldn't be a WarCraft4.
I don't think it will be Warcraft 4, at least they shouldn't release it for like 6-7 years because it would kill the e-sports hype of sc2 mainly carrying right now and i don't think blizzard would like that. They're trying to make sc2 a main rts e-sport and revolve money arround it and investing it so no, i don't think it'll be or if its, get released anytime soon.
I think it is something new, not sure but maybe they're thinking of stepping into fps genre? They might consider growing their company as the main e-sports game producers and it would be quite reasonable.

People have been parroting this through the article and it just doesn't fly. CS1.6 absolutely thrived through eras of TF2 and other random fps existing. There has been no community split to speak of.
Warcraft 4, no change in a milion. With 2 upcoming expansions to starcraft 2, how can you even consider a such thing. I would love Warcraft 4 but I fear that it will never happen.

Why not? even if it is war4 it won't come out for a long time. Remember, they started working on sc2 as soon as war3 came out.

As I said, there are 2 more expansions coming for Starcraft 2... We're looking at a 10+ year time-frame, and I doubt blizzard want to overlap a possible WC4 with SC2.
Why I said it will possibly never will come out is because I'm unsure if the RTS genre will survive in the future, unfortunately.
i would LOVE warcraft 4... i feel like they wouldn't do a "world of starcraft" as it would be almost identical to WoW except with a few fantasy-to-science-fiction changes
I dont think it is going to be anything warcraft related since all the lore is now being continued in wow and it would be too hard for some1 who didnt play wow to then get back on track in wc4.

it could be set back in time, and cover some of the old interesting storylines.
I don't get all these people wishing for Warcraft 4 or another game set in the Starcraft universe, as much as I love those franchises (I can't ever see myself not playing SC2) I really would rather see something new and fresh. Sooner rather than later. I hope they are upping the production for this Titan game because that will be something truly exciting. Let's see what Blizzard is really capable of, and lets hope it actually comes out before 2050.

Some people like warcraft much better than starcraft. I would drop sc2 in an instant if wc4 came out and I would bet plenty of other people would too, so why would those people care about another game that's new and fresh coming out compared to the game they already like a lot?

We're operating off the Blizzard development cycle though. Hinting at a game being developed means 1-2 years before we know what it is. Add another 3-5 years before it actually comes out. For reference, Blizzard confirmed they were making D3 in mid-2008, it still doesn't have a release date or a beta (beta's are a more accurate measure of when to expect Blizz games then release dates are anyway).
So if there's a Warcraft 4 in the works it's like 5 years off anyway. Which is enough time to run through the SC2 expansions and possibly the life of the game.
WC4 would also have to tie into the functional life of WoW too. While the WoW playerbase is decreasing, it's going to be a long time before they shut that cash machine down.
On April 16 2011 00:09 GGTeMpLaR wrote: it would be so amazing if it was warcraft 4 and they said "WoW lore is no longer canon, scrap it from the books boys!"

well, lore in wow is so shakey and vague that it's quite possible to keep most of the wow-lore intact and make some of it good. the argent crusade against the lich king and thrall trying to stitch azeroth back together could make a lot of sense told in RTS fashion.
the fact that the game's overarching plot can be explained in less than a paragraph is a good indicator they have further plans for the franchise.
I think it'd be a gigantic mess to make war4 when wow is still around. It would totally fuck up the lore around the game, which seems unimportant to a certain degree, but a lot of people REALLY care about it.
Well, as much as I've always liked the Starcraft franchise, my first love was the very first Warcraft. Although I played WoW, I always felt a bit sad cuz I assumed the RTS franchise stopped there. If it really were Warcraft 4, I'd be all over it. Can't see how it would incorporate with the WoW storyline though.
I really hope blizzard would stick with 1 RTS francise.I'm warcraft fan as well and 4th part of this legendary game would be cool to play for the story sake alone, but i prefer much more to have ONE united RTS comunity , because lets be honest , we're not that many even United.
Its not going to be WC3, that would be just... I think its going to be small but awesome, maybe some adds or minigame or even Dota 2. OR + Show Spoiler +

No you have it all wrong, this is the perfect plan from blizzard.
1.Release SC2 so people from WC3 switch over. 2.Release HOTS 3.Release WC4 4.Release LOTV 5.Profit
I would also love to see WC4, but I wonder where they would go with it? Would they build off of WoW lore or just pretend it isn't there? Would it continue with the RTT style gameplay?
