Just adds to the already negative appreciation I have of him, although it is oddly suiting. http://www.sixjaxgaming.com/wp/Check out the "bidding" website in the bottom right. I'll see if I can drag out the whole explanation from Arenajunkies if anyone wants it... Link: + Show Spoiler +http://www.arenajunkies.com/topic/193957-unethical-auction-site/page__hl__sixjax Explanation: + Show Spoiler +Here's how it works:
The auction (say, a $350 iPod touch) starts at $0.01. In order to bid, you buy tokens at a rate of 25 for $10.00, or $.40/bid. Each bid is in an increment of one cent. When the iPod is 20 seconds or less from expiring, any additional bids increase the time from expiration by 20s. So, an iPod touch for $1.00 has already earned the website $40.00. If it goes the way of Ebay, where items routinely auction for their average retail price or even say, $50 less than retail, they stand to make a massive profit. A sale of $300 for that iPod touch ends up making a profit for the website of $12,000. Meanwhile all the money spent on those tokens by everyone but the very last person, the "lottery winner" is gone forever.
IE. If you bid and don't win, you don't get your tokens or money back. Site sells tokens at a disproportionate rate and makes a ridiculous amount of money.
1 token = $0.40 (Customers money) 1 bid = +$0.01 (Increase in item, costs 1 token) +$0.01 (Item sale price increases by $0.01) = $0.40 ($0.01 increase in sale price cost customer $0.40)
Also, I don't want to advertise for them at all, but felt it might be relevant for TL'ers to know where Sixjax get's it's money from (ripping people off). If any of this is inappropriate, remove at will and sorry!
So you are re-posting a thread that got locked by admins on another site because it was a ridiculous post? Good job.
They are up front about the rules; there's nothing shady going on. It's a game, just because you don't win doesn't mean the site is a rip off, it just means someone else won.

That site = This site, right? It got locked because the admins didn't want some scam website being advertised. Calling it a "game" is borderline hilarious when all it is is an auction website where you buy tokens instead of bidding with real value money. Do you buy your Gf blood diamonds too and justify it because they're cheap?
Edit: Anyway, I posted it up for discussion, if it isn't appropriate for discussion it will be removed.
Also. Look at the page right now. The GPS is at almost $1.00 right? Don't you think it's misleading and shady that there has already been $40.00 worth of bids on that item at this point?

It's a site where you bid to buy something at reduced value. Before people invented the "penny auction" name the model was referred to a bidding fee auction. It's not some crazy ponzi scheme; It's pretty straight forward.
I am not going to go back and forth with you on this because it is taking away from the announcement artosis made. Good job hijacking the thread.

Oh so the problem is you don't want the website to make any money so they can't continue putting money into esports? Ok gotcha. It looks like someone is about to win a gps for a dollar and others are getting points for the reward store. That's what it looks like to me.

Blah say what you want, this thread was hijacked hundreds of posts ago. I haven't used the website and don't plan on it. It's a site designed to rip dumb people off, plain and simple.

Rofl. I love when companies put money into E-sports, but you can't pull the e-sports card for everything, especially shady crap like this. Next thing you know the KKK is going to sponsor a gaming team and route people to their website.
The GPS is a dollar eh? How about the fact that each bid costs 40 cents and increases the item a penny? Sounds like you are a perfect candidate to use the website. It's $1.50 now ->$60.
It isn't the website making money that is the issue, it's the fact that they mislead all of their customers with this gimmicky conversion system that is only in place to take people's money. The breakeven point on that thing is like $5.30 in bids, tell me that isn't shady, go ahead. Also, nothing like a casino.

Yeah, he has improved a scary amount since the matches I saw Catz stream a month or two back; he barely knew anything about the game.
I am honestly comparing him to terran players from Q4 last year because I feel experience wise it's the best comparison... and he's miles ahead of where most people were at that time. I think if he had started from beta he'd be a monster by now.

And the GPS costs a hell of a lot more than 60 bucks

I couldn't be more unsure of a recruit.
I wish ROOT were able to not only offer him financial reward, but also tame his *supposed* BM.
Should someone be able to pin him down, I think he'll be raping face before too long.... I hope Juan realizes how fickle the scene can be.

Where were your posts about Juan before I posted 15 minutes ago? You are dodging the issue by feigning interest in Terran. I'm not angry or a troll and clearly you have no ethical morality if you think this type of scheme is an honest way of making money.

Keep attacking me personally to try to justify your position, I don't care. I've read this thread more than once and I know exactly how the website operates. My point was that you popped in here to write a rebuttal to my post, then jumped ship and starting randomly babbling about Juan to pretend like you are staying on topic. Here's the last thing I'll quote from that thread:
+ Show Spoiler +It's 1001 people being stupid, but one of them is lucky.
Since they get 40 cents for every 1 cent bid, something that ends at 10% of its actual value still gives them a 300% RoI. A $100 item that sells for $3 is a 20% profit for the site owners.
It's shady because you're essentially raffling off items, but have no cap on number of tickets sold or duration the item is up, and profit disproportionately to the value of the item. I also imagine the protection against automated bidding programs is nonexistent.
You'd have to be retarded to think Jigs is some unbiased source, coming in to chip in his 2 cents to clear up disillusionment. Though that's almost a dollar in sixjax cash!
Making comparisons to craps or blackjack or the lotto is ridiculous. The only thing in common is you're gambling in a system where the house always wins. The methodology here is far more sinister.
By changing money into currency that has an odd ratio of value, you distance the person from the concept of how much money they're actually spending - bid a couple pennies, lose a couple dollars. By having the value of the item posted, you're anchoring it in the bidder's mind. You don't know how many people you're competing against.
There's nothing illegal, or close to illegal about it. It's just taking advantage of people, especially considering how they were trying to build up a community, only to fleece them.
Keep being overly defensive because Artosis is the captain of this team though.
