WARNING: Spoilers in comments down below, watch before reading comments, just trust me it's hands down the best game in my opinion I've ever seen in SC2. It felt like an old school SC1 macro game, just tons going on all over the place.
If you didn't watch Idras steam go check his VODs in a few hours, he had the greatest game I have ever seen vs IMMvP, it makes all the GSL Finals look like scrub crap. He saved the replay and should be sending it to Artosis so we should get a commentary also.
Here is his VODs section http://www.justin.tv/eg_idra/videos
THE VIDEO IS UP! It's the second or third game in, it's on Shakuras. I got a big ol' banana grin on my face from watching that .
48~ or so game.
Edit: I don't know about all of you, but I'm so pumped after seeing that!
|
agreed. very very cool play. cant wait for a commentary. well played IdrA~~!
|
It was a good game. All hinged on the fact that IMMvps stim timing came and he chose not to engage after not finding a third expo. If he had IdrA would have died as his bane nest was late.
|
Yeah, pretty good game.
Beat IMmvp
Go eat like a boss
|
MvP didn't play that well anyway. He was totally in defense for about 90% of the game. He coulda done a lot of damage with the marine marauder push in the begining imo. Anyway, I don't really like mvp's style of passive play. It doesn't work against zerg at all
|
Was an absolutely sick performance; in macro games Idra is most definitely one of the absolutely best players in the world. The reigning GSL champion got smashed. :D
If only all GSL games had that quality.
|
Hope this stays open, we've had threads for some epic high level BW games so this should be fine as well, especially since most people would miss it if they don't follow streams.
|
Thanks a bunch for this. I have been trying to watch his stream as much as possible. I have seen a few really good games so far and i hope this one is as good as you say.
|
Oh man im so excited to see this!
Thanks for the post

I knew after that game ended he was getting off the stream and eating or taking a nap, or something. That game must have seriously taken it out of him. I'd fall on my keyboard if I had to play a game that intense for that long.

I was on the edge of my seat for a good portion of that. Epic.
|
Hope you aren't overhyping it, cuz i must see that shit
|
I started watching at the 15 minute mark but enjoyed every minute. Great game.
|
Game was fucking incredible. IdrA got an advantage early, and MVP kept trying to come back. So fucking epic.
|
God that was a sick game, It was definitely one of the top 5 games I have seen of starcraft 2. I thought Idra was screwed after that first big engagement, but he held on just fine evidently. Awesome!
|
That game was unreal especially from IdrA's perspective. It would be quite interesting to see from an observer's point of view too though. But yea definitely recommend it if you missed it live.
|
On February 04 2011 16:38 Krissam wrote:Hope you aren't overhyping it, cuz i must see that shit Not even hyped enough. You just need to watch it. It's what sc2 games should look like, bw esque expanded all over the map with multiple armies skirmishing over the map trying to deny expansions. After playing that, I would just take the day off.

At first I felt that this game didn't warrant it's own thread, but I think there are a number of things we can learn from it and discuss in this thread. It's not often that we get to see two of the very best in the world go head to head on a large map like shakuras.
I think this game shows a lot of the pros and cons to having large maps (in that there are no cons). The game was epic the way I think starcraft should be, and it wouldn't have occurred on any other map in the pool.

Pretty much. MVP made a good effort to comeback in the game though after falling behind because of that.

Yeah I can't believe idra didn't even start the baneling nest until he saw the push coming. seems pretty crazy to me...
|
it was idd quite awesome. idra probly got lucky in the early game bbut that just made for an amazing macro game with a ton of clutch plays along the way. i defo would recomend this game to anyone.

I just pray to god Day9 does an analysis on this game, there is so much to learn from it. I'm going over it in my head and I'm spinning from all the things Idra was doing.

starting watching the stream half way through this match. and i kept wondering wow this terran is so f-ing boss, how is idra still winning... 20 min later Mvp types gg .. and i realize i witnessed something great

That's interesting, because I thought IMMVP had the best TvZ in the world, as witnessed by his record in that matchup, precisely because he can play into the mid and late game unlike some other Terrans who can only beat Zergs via all-ins or cheese builds.

Well there was way too much passivity in mvp's play hence the amount of built up mutalisks. i've seen MVP be a way more aggressive especially against idra actually during their GSL match but this game didn't really seem like MVP at all.

MVP made a bad decision early, but usually if you watch his games(see the gisado games) he isn`t that passive. It is just ladder it happens, he is still the best TvZer.

Two beasts battling for 45 minutes to Skillex. Twas an epic match indeed.

I think when he had the marine/marauders he could have pushed out and got the easy victory (and he probably knew that as well), but since it's a ladder game, he probably wanted to test his macro abilities against one of the top macro zergs in the world IMO. It's ladder, so good practice.

This game was completely epic, especially to watch live. When the gg came, oh my god, the chat EXPLODED. Hats off to IdrA.
|
I watched the game live and it was amazing. I wish more SC2 games play like this on the GSL. Also muta ball is out of control in sc2...
|
Anyone else feel that without the Infestors Idra would have been holding on to victory by a thread or even just lost?

This game was good but until there is more content (ie Artosis commentary vod) please keep discussion in IdrA's thread.
