hmm dont buy a razer or a steelseries as they are pretty shit relative they use bad keycap plastics and they lack some parts that cost about a dollar extra per board but are very usfull, either get a , filco, ducky, leopold(kr keyboard), archiss (japanese version of the leopold) at the end of the day its better to spend that extra 20-40 dollars than buy one of those by steelseries or razer

I have two Filco keyboards side by side on my PC, Blue and Brown. Have been changing them around a bit.

I bought the Blue first and used it for months before I decided to try the Brown. The Blue feels nicer to type on, and even lifts your mood when you type. However, I find that the Brown boosts my SC2 performance more(the Blue does too but not as much). The Brown just feels much more accurate when I need to be faster with my keys. I'm not as 'confident' when using the Blue(I have to look @ the screen to make sure that my fast actions were registered) - I assume it's because the Blue actuates too fast.

Just wanted to share my experience.

TLDR; Blue = Ultimate typing keyboard, Brown = Ultimate RTS keyboard.

I just got a Das keyboard professional, the one with blues, and I absolutely love it. The thing is insanely well built, feels so nice to type on, and I got a nice student discount :D

My Majestouch 2 w/ Browns arrived today, feels goooooooooood.

No double tap issues either, very easy to use.

What are you talking about. Filco, Ducky, Razer and SS all use the same type of plastic and they all have the same fading key cap problem. Yeah if you pay more for a filco/ducky/leopold you get a keyboard with a good build quality but there are no "extra" features on it when compared to a SS keyboard.

Post your thoughts after you get it. I'm on a das right now but my budget would allow me to get a fully customized checkerboard which would be awesome. It would be a serious investment though.

Whoever is interested in the SteelSeries 6Gv2, should check fnatic's store: they have it for 69.99EUR, the same as in the US but cheaper than SteelSeries' own store for the rest of the world. And besides, it supports ESPORTS.

is it possible to switch mechanical keyswitches for, say, an entire keyboard? i have a SS 6gv2, and i love the keyboard, but i feel like i would like it MUCH better with browns instead of blacks. Is this possible? would it be better for me to just buy a brand new keyboard?

I just ordered a 104 set of blank white keycaps and a red Esc key from wasdkeyboards.com. I plain on checkering my Das Ultimate. I emailed the guys there and they said the keycap profile's the same so everything should work out great. You might wanna just get the keycaps instead of a whole new keyboard, you'll save some cash.

On the other hand if you wanted to try different switches or something you could buy a keyboard from them with white keys and have TWO checkered keyboards.

Yes this is possible. There are people that prefer cherry mx clears, but keyboards with them are rare and hard to find. Usually they aren't in good shape/desired form factor so people pop the clears out and put them in a different board.

Even though it's possible, it may not be easy/profitable to do this. I have no idea how much key switches cost on their own.

I have a SIIG mechanical keyboard $80. The clicking of the keys are very distinct. It just seems very, very standard to me, which is still way better the plastic crap I had before.

Yeah i'm trying to find some to buy individually, but the only ones i can find are for $5 each on some random ebay shop. D:

can someone give me opinions on how bad cherry mx blacks are for doubletapping (which i obviously need for sc2) i was thinking about getting a 6Gv2 as my first mechanical keyboard.

does the key not come up immediatly or whats the problem with them?

blacks feel..... squishy. thats the best way to describe them. I have a 6gv2, and honestly, i wish i'd bought a keyboard that had brown switches.

Not in my experience. You'd need massive fingers for that to happen haha. It's almost entirely personal preference. Until you try them, you really have no idea, despite what someone recommends you. My recommendation is to try a black keyboard and a brown one and make your decision then. I didn't, and now im stuck with a keyboard that cost me $100 and that i'm probably going to end up replacing. I use browns. They don't do that. They feel a bit "lighter" but more precise and accurate then membrane keyboards. Blacks bottom out easily and they don't have any feel other then that. But I only tried a keyboard with blacks in a store really quick, maybe my judgment isn't too good on that.

I want to try clears/blues...but these keyboards are pricey.

Yes. And I will never understand what the issue with bottoming out is supposed to be. Just fucking type.
