I'll just ignore that for now. My heart goes out to her and the other's family and loved ones. Very sad. Talk about now being like about your constituents...just takes one crazy person to ruin everything.

That's the most horrible assertion I've heard. She is exactly the kind of person some retard in their 20s would lash out at over political concerns. Unlike the president, congressmen don't usually have a huge secret service detail.

So what does that mean when she says the above? Is she seriously suggesting that people should use arms to change politics? Or is there another context? If not she is a crazy woman :S That is likely what she means, and yes, she is a crazy woman. If not she is a crazy woman :S She's implying exactly that. The woman is completely batshit insane. You should google more about her, there's some really priceless quotes from her. Whoa, hey, she got 44% of the votes, you guys should be more careful with your language there.
Only because her opponent was Harry Reid, one of the most hated people in the Senate.

I'm disgusted by the instant politicization/conclusion-jumping that I'm seeing on other websites, but I will mention that apparently this congresswoman was on Sarah Palin's "crosshairs" map that was released some time ago. Either way, I don't think it makes any sense to pass judgments like this until we have more information.
She also had her office smashed up last year after the health care vote: http://azstarnet.com/news/local/crime/article_eb24e4fe-35dc-11df-ad88-001cc4c03286.html
RIP. All I can say is holy shit.

Holy shit, the right wing nutjobs in the US are finally turning their words into actions.

Just to add to this, They found a gun at an event of hers in 2009 after someone made the threat that the organizers of the event would "face up to the second amendment" if they kept stifling the first amendment

Apparently they have the person in custody. Hopefully we'll have more information soon.

Gawker: "The man was young, mid-to-late 20s, white clean-shaven with short hair and wearing dark clothing and said nothing during the shooting or while being held down. He didn't look like a businessman, but more of a "fringe character," our source said."
NPR: "At least 6 other killed"
Reportedly the shooter called out names as he was aiming at his targets.

six more people are dead, by the way. That's 7 total.
I cannot believe how much of a clusterfuck arizona has been these last two years.

Supports Abortion (-) Supports use of renewable energy (Neutral overall) Supports gun ownership (+) Anti-immigration (+) Voted for bailout (Neutral overall)
It sounds like she is closer to the right than to the left. I would be very surprised if a Republican killed her due to party affiliation but you know the TEA Party, very uninformed.
But we need much more information on the assailant before any assumptions (FML I am totally guilty of that in the same post)

Seven dead with only one assailant and weapon? He knew what he was doing. Probably ex-military or PMC.

Jesus Christ, Giffords was shot in the head at point blank range and at least 4 others including a child are dead. A total of 12 people were injured or killed during the shooting.
I don't want to blame this on right wing conservatives, I really don't but seeing things like Sarah Palin's Hit list, reading the quotes by that candidate about 2nd amendment rights, and just hearing certain groups involving beverages (tea party) really makes it hard for me not to immediately think of them.
I also agree with above poster (Offhand), that kind of efficiency with a hand gun means he had training >_<

Remember, this is Arizona we're talking about. What's roughly centrist would be considered liberal over there.
Need more information before passing judgment.
