In the latest Ghosts of the Past SCII trailer, near the end, Raynor ejects a shell casing from his gun. Then, the shell casing is shown on the ground with the capitalized letters HEV. Does anyone know what HEV means? Is it an acronym or 3 letters of an incomplete word?
Also worth nothing that Raynor has a pretty big gun, with 2 lasers to pinpoint his target. Sweet.
This is driving me crazy. Alot of people on TL and youtube have asked this question but no one has posted an answer. I've google searched and TL searched, no luck.
I find it weird that they would dedicate around 4-5 seconds to this specific shot. I think the significance is alot more than a simple bullet casing hitting the ground.
Possible answers were: "Heavy EnVironmental suit" like in Half-Life "Hard Erection from Viewing" because the video was hot "HEaVy" since it was a heavy (or HE-V) round casing
But none of these possibilities sound satisfactory to me.
Anyone have the answer?

Not kidding, might be story SPOILER, read at your own risk. + Show Spoiler +
This link is from a forum that says the HEV might be a serum that Valerian offered to Raynor that would revert Kerrigan back into a human.
HEV = Human Evolutionary Virus ?
This makes sense because in the Ghosts of the Past Trailer, Valerian says he can offer Raynor what he's always wanted, and we all know that is probably Kerrigan. Also, since the Dominion created the Zerg, its possible that HEV is the name of the substance the Dominion created in order to counter act the Zerg. Maybe..
Edit: added Screenshot Edit: added possible lore explanation (spoiler is hidden unless manually shown)
I was curious of the same thing, whatever it is, they'll probably go more into later on or else I really couldn't see why theyd lead you on with that and no explanation.

so therefore...who knows =/
Oh but if I really had to guess it would be something like "Highly Explosive V"...but I don't know what the V would stand for.

Wow. could you overreact more? He didn't even spoiled anything.... he just said that at somepoint you'll see something with the letter HEV and it's not really THAT important in the video. Sometime I feel that "spoilers" are an excuse in these forums. He didn't give you any match results or how the games end. Now if he had said raynor dies at the 12th mission... would have been a spoiler but saying that there is a piece of METAL flying with the letter HEV... that gives you barely no information.
As for the letter HEV I think... (not sure) it would be a kind of bomb or somehting? don't know... guess we'll know on the 27th

Sorry, but I don't see how this spoils anything. The HEV is from the video released by Blizzard after the Dominion propaganda website reached 100%. There is another thread on TL about this same video, I'm just making a thread to discuss a small part of it. This isn't a video from the actual game, because obviously, I don't have it... YET

Dunno about the V though...
This. The "HE" is definitely "High Explosive."
The only time I've seen "V" concerning ammunition/firearms, though, is when a weapon is intended to be mounted on a vehicle, usually because it produces a ridiculous amount of recoil. The gun in the video IS pretty big, so that could be it. I guess a powered Marine combat suit could be heavy enough to offset large recoils...
Alternatively, the "V" could also specify what sort of explosive is contained within.
I was under the impression it was just short for "heavy". The shell casing impales the ground with a loud thud... Why would a plot critical acronym be on a shell casing anyway?

Was my initial thought as well - but probably too boring for it to be true (I mean, the way he plants the rifle and the way it zooms in on it seems to imply something else).
HEV might be used to turn kerrigan back into a human... lol HEV virus is what turns you into a super mutant in the fallout series...
Simple lore thing for OP.

The Dominion did not create the zerg. Here's a quote from the wiki, "Just prior to the beginning of the game, in December 2499, an alien race possessing advanced technology and psionic power, the Protoss, makes first contact with humanity by destroying a Confederate colony world without any prior warning. Soon after this, the Terrans discover that a second alien race, the insectoid Zerg, has been stealthily infesting the surface of several of the Terran colonies, and that the Protoss are destroying the planets to prevent the Zerg from spreading. With the Confederacy threatened by two alien races and internal rebellion, it begins to crumble." Mengsk, leader of the Sons of Korhal uses psi-emitters to lure zerg into attacking confederate planets and creates the dominion out of the remains.

1. OP asks a question nobody can answer 2. Dozens of bad jokes are made 3. Some seriously try to answer what "HEV" stands for based on 2 screenshots 4. Mod closes thread asking for people to not go crazy and wait a few more days before starting conspiracy theories about things there are no way to answer.
