When I was younger, I used to own a pair of roller blades. For exercise, I would go to the park and skate around. One day, I fell and scraped my knees badly, leaving a huge wound because the ground was rocky. (This was when I was about 8 or 9) After my knee recovered, I went to the park again cuz I gotta skate.
Thanks to my experience with roller blades, ice skating was a cinch to learn. I got the hang of it on my first try. I love ice skating. It's really great even though it's a bit cold. Sometimes my back hurts after a while because I try to go fast, which requires bending my back (or maybe I'm doing it incorrectly). I do hate the part where your finger might get cut by other people's sharp ice skates (especially the hockey ones). I always worry about that whenever I fall. That's why the moment my hand hits the ice, I pick it up to make sure I don't lose a finger. Ice skating is quite cold and sometimes dangerous, but hey... i gotta skate.
I've never learned how to skateboard, unfortunately. I had a bad experience when I was younger. I went down a hill with no helmet and no experience, and crashed into a tree. Oh, it wasn't pretty.
So now, I use a razr scooter from time to time. I don't really use the brakes. I just use it like a skateboard with handlebars. It's not as cool as riding a skateboard, but it gets me from A to B. In the end, it doesn't matter, cuz I gotta skate.
Which one is your favorite?
Poll: When you gotta skate, which one do you prefer? (Vote): Skateboard (Vote): Razr Scooter (Vote): Roller blades (Vote): Roller skates (Vote): Ice Skates
and why? And if you want, you can include a picture of your ride.

Basically exactly the same. Though when the fad kind of died and my friends stopped. I continued and got pretty decent :D. Then i moved house and it was far too much effort to go to decent places to skate.
Honestly it takes the least amount of skill to learn how to ride efficiently and you can change directions/stop very easily compared to rollerblades/skateboard.
People say you look stupid on it. It's probably the same kinds of people who make fun of protoss players for using imba units like templar and arbs but fuck that, it's not like i want to become a pro/amateur skateboarder
First off anyone who is worth anything doesnt call it Rollerblading.
I own a pair of Salomon pro skates. They stopped making them so I had to order them from Europe. On these babies I can go faster than almost any bike rider (short of a peloton) in the washington dc potomac trail. You should see there faces >
lol thats a great question. There actually is a technique where you swerve from left to right rapidly to slow down. But unfortunatly you need some distance to to do it.
i used to skateboard as a kid, but not now. seems that the skate community is building up here again though. its kinda discouraged in singapore (what i heard), except in skate parks of course.
you include a scooter which doesn't have anything to do with the word skate but not wake skating or snow skating...Good day to you sir. I SAID GOOD DAY!
I never was a skateboarder, but rollerbladed alot when I was young. I've also been iceskating which is actually pretty fun too, lol. (and easy if you've ever rollerbladed)
Snowboarding, easily. Anyways... i didn't know what a razor scooter was so i youtubed it only to see some idiots doing tricks on one. hahaha, what a great laugh. I mean they were good and all... but i think there was a misunderstanding somewhere, lol.
Also, pretty sure rodney mullen's balance could cure cancer^^
Fuck yeah, Rodney! He invented flatland skateboarding, and a ton of street tricks, aswell as the darkslide. He's a goddamn beast, also the first video there is from one of the tony hawk games, i believe it's an unlockable in THPS 3?

I guess this is correct, but the persons I see as the inventors of modern street skating is Jason Lee, Koston, Mark Gonzales et.c.
I am what you would consider passionate skater. I skate for about 3 hours a day during winter. And about 6 hours a day during summer.
skatin is great way to get around some decent distances, its fun and recreational if you have a skatepark near year as well as challenging i my self baught a skateboard last summer and yeah, you definately need to try and skate if you havent. if any1 knows some great skateboard movies for tips or sites please post cuz im just a noob skater.. (
I had a pair of rollerblades when I was younger. I got bored of them and left them in the garage, then a few months later I felt like using them again so I went out to put them on. I felt a weird lump on one of my feet, so i pulled it out and my sock was covered in blood
turns out a mouse had decided to make my rollerblade its home. needless to say i have not rollerbladed since, and when i gotta skate i use a skateboard

I can't stand skating in any form. Maybe if all the ground outside is smooth out but it always bumpy somewhere. I knees must be weak cause that bumpy shit bothers me.
I liked it the first time I saw it, and I liked it for the next few posts.. but the speed of which it became 'mainstream' and how soon "everyone who is cool" uses it, it makes me wanna puke, which is not good since I am eating.

Dude stop the hatin man
u gotta skate
Ok, ill send you 100$ if you can even tell me what that means.
well... I suppose it means...
u gotta skate
Point proven
nah, its pretty obvious. You gotta skate means you gotta chill and just take it how it is.
I believe sir that you are misinformed. I ran a quick search on wikipedia to determine the definition of the word "skate" and apply it in terms of "u gotta". What my search yeilded was this Skate.
Skates are cartilaginous fish belonging to the family Rajidae in the superorder Batoidea of rays. There are more than 200 described species in 27 genera.
Now if one were to examine the main activity of such an organism, one would find that its main activity is not any of those examined in the thread thus far. In fact, it's main activity would appear to be of a different sort- swimming. Therefore I conclude that "u gotta skate" does not refer to the act of "chilling" and "taking it as it is"; yet to the act of swimming- as defined here "Skate". So in conclusion I say this to you sir: u gotta biologically propel your self through a liquid medium yo~

Ok congrats on wasting your time, i did not ask you for the meaning i asked the other guy. Also, that definition is completely irrelevant so no money for you.
If any TL users in Singapore are interested in skateboarding, I run the first and only indoor skatepark here (very small tho) and of course also a skateshop inside. I started skating more than a decade ago so I can help you get started.
I am also broke so even if you don't wanna skate you can help a brother out by buying cool skate shoes and clothing. DC is a major brand and i'm the best source on the island.

yeah... I miss the good old times when Memes were so magical...
I gotta skate. I love skating street; flip tricks, grinds, manuals, obstacles, gaps, ect. I also enjoy ripping in a bowl from time to time. Longboarding is also sickwiddit, bombing hills or shredding in huge bowls
