as a cj fan, i'm really glad that khan made it through.. i think that STX is way more dangerous and kinda proved it by winning more games in this series and dominating the last proleague regular season. plus, CJ has a lot of ZvP monsters to nullify Jangbi and Stork..

so seriously just let us the stx fans whine for a while till we all get over it, u dont even have to respond (talking to all the non-stx fans).

Honestly, I think the format is completely fair. Maybe it's because I play tennis. In tennis, SETS matter, not GAMES. It doesn't matter if you win lose a 5-7 and win the other 7-6, the score is 1-1. Both teams knew that MATCHES mattered, not games. The individual game count simply does not matter. They prepared and set their lineup while keeping that in mind.

What if tennis format was like this, after 2 sets if it is tied, the winner is determined by 1 game.

So you lose the first sets 6-7(6), then win 6-0. Then you lose the next game. Wouldn't you feel robbed? Wouldn't you have preferred a full set, or even a shortened version of it instead of playing 1 lousy game? Even a tie-breaker would be better, or a 4-wins to a set match.

This is how i feel is similar to this format.

Nope. I wouldn't feel robbed if I knew that's what I had to do to win. If the third set is decided by one game, so be it. Why is that unfair? Why would I feel robbed? I would be the one who didn't carry over the momentum and choke the most important game away.

My opponent and I were on perfectly even ground. Whoever loses does so in a completely fair way.

I STRONGLY doubt you'd feel that way if that happened to you. Especially in a tennis match where the servers has a HUGE advantage over the receiver.

And this is relevant because Jangbi got to hit that huge 125 mph slice serve down the middle, right?

Jokes aside, I assumed that where would be a fair method to make serving/receiving fair for both players in the last game. That is obviously a must, and something that is not a problem in StarCraft. It would be fair and I wouldn't complain.

Ok I agree trying to bring in fairness of a tennis match is irrelevent.

My main point boils down to this. After having watched a nail-biter of a series in the first set. Then watching a decently interesting series in the second set, I was disappointed that everything boiled down to 1 game. I mean, how hard did both KHAN and STX work to get their wins today and yesterday?

Let's look at it this way.

The series was tied at 1-1 before the last match, right? KHAN had to battle through 7 games to get that first "set". Then today, STX players put up a stellar performance to win their "set". After seeing how much work each team put into to getting their respective "set points" and tieing it at 1-1, having 1 final ace match as the decider means that 1 game is equivalent to a set, or rather, 4 wins! Jangbi was pretty much able to do what his team did yesterday... except he did it with 1 win instead of 4!

Of course, having them accumulate the wins from both teams and adding them up to decide the winning team would not be good either... I mean, what's the point of having an ACE match at all if it doesn't give your team the win? What's the point of having 2 separate sets if they're going to accumulate anyways?

Having a 3rd-set would probably be too much, but having 1 deciding game seems too little (in my opinion, atleast).

I really want to know what people think about these possibilities though.
1. Have a winners-league format mini-set. Bo3 or Bo5.
2. Make the "final ace" match a Bo3 or Bo5.

in the end it doesn't matter though because this is probably the last big PL playoffs for BW

trying to figure that out myself i think what happened was with stx win they were tied so they held an ace match to decide the victor in 1 game

edit: live 2 win explains :D

After today's result, i gotta admit I feel STX got robbed. I mean yesterday they lose a really close match 4-3. Today they completely dominate 4-1... but it doesn't matter cuz everything is decided into 1 match. Seems like KHAN could have easily thrown away all their games today and still advance with 1 win.

It would be freaking epic if they made them play a third round in winner's league format...

the 2 days format is bullshit, making the scores irrelevant is the peak of it. This was supposed to favor team depth and stamina, but no. 4-3 OZ wins first match, OZ lose 0-4 the second, JD wins the Ace match, OZ wins. The problem is that, the winner of the first match can just focus on this one Ace game, while the loser must prepare for the whole second set to have a chance

FU KeSPa, seriously

still glad, KHAN made it, but they were not the better team

They were the better team by your subjective opinion. The results say otherwise.

I have to say it: the reason Calm lost in both ace matches yesterday and today is the same reason I can't take him seriously in any Starleague bid. He wins the games when the pressure isn't on, but when it's all on the line he just does not perform. STX payed the price today, and EffOrt will likely reap the benefits in the coming weeks.
