IdrA has already accomplished a lot...I mean, he's the only non-Korean professional SC player in the world right now (unless there are 1 or 2 Chinese I don't know about...).
Also keep in mind that many of today's gosus had years as B-team players.
IdrA did a pretty good job here to go 1-2....I'll have to watch the VODs, but honestly this was a pretty brutal map pool for a TvP Bo3.

damn i was hoping idrA would make it through

So its 12EST, where are the videos? GOM used to have them up early in the morning.

People here are so biased it's sad. Idra , Idra , Idra and have he done? Losing 1-2 to a noname like Trap , showing how bad judgement he has in game 2 and losing horribly in game 3..
And what did we see today from Idra? Nothing. He is playing all along his boring macro thing which he isn't even good at seriously...Idra said that Strelok is a one strategy player when he is doing a fac , cc in every game - so lame. Idra has no style or clue what he is doing , just massing units and pushing every single time. I guess he haven't learned anything in korea for 1 year but hey we can still listen non stop from Idra's friends how he is destroying everyone in practice games , ahahahaha. So let's get the fact straight - Idra has no style , no strategy , he is zero agressive , he cant handle rush but that doesnt stop him from beating everyone in practice games - rofled.
I am more than convinced that any top notch foreigner player would win Trap in a bo3 without a whole year of practicing with progamers , yeah convinced - wanna bet money?

Given what happened in that Europe vs Korean match, you think a top terran foreigner player can win against an actual progamer on a team on Medusa, Destination, and Tau Cross? Sorry, that's pretty illogical.

I would bet money yes lol
A terran would definitely get his face eaten off in this map pool unless he's a top tier pro gamer.

I want to watch the VODs but apparently they're not up at Gomtv.net. Anyone know of some other place one can attain them?

well first of all let me say that idra's progression so far is better than comparable to any other player who was at idra's skill level when they started, given the same timeline. what we've seen today was a vast improvement over the idra that went to estro so many months ago.
talking to idra on msn after these games, he knows exactly why he lost, and he is not making excuses. thankfully he isn't paying any attention to all the naysayers who don't realize it won't be all sunshine and rainbows your first year in korea, starting as a decent nonkorean terran.
the people who like to talk shit about idra because he's bad manner are fucking stupid. you aren't fans of the game, you're drama-mongering little shits, and you need to back the fuck off. idra's bad manner, we all know, he knows too. he describes himself as 'an angry little nerd'. he doesn't give a shit. when he wakes up in the morning he goes to his practice area with the sole intent of becoming a better player than he was the day before, and he is progressing on that line.
my msn conversation with idra was full of praise for trap - the kid played a hell of a game and countered idra's prepared builds very well. he's no pushover, this is a guy who had some savage one-sided wins during his osl prelims group. this is the level of competition idra has to win against, he realizes these aren't newbies that he would only lose against if they cheese or whatever bullshit people assume idra thinks about this game.
idra is wholly dedicated to progaming and he is making real, tangible improvements on a daily basis. the tvp he played tonight was leaps and bounds above what any other terran outside of korea is capable of - coaches from other teams were legitimately impressed and commenting on game 1 as 'the best foreigner play ever'. i think maybe they know more about this than you do.
in short: everyone needs to stop giving idra shit because he's bad manner. he is trying harder than any of you can possibly realize, is making real progress, and has just as big a chance as anyone currently in his position, korean or otherwise, of making it big in this game.
the reason i called you stupid is because you said something about players only improving mechanically when they become progamers which is the DUMBEST shit i've read around here in at least a week. i'm sorry you don't comprehend the life of a B team progamer. don't be misguided enough to think you are in any way qualified to assess idra and his potential as a progamer.
idra fucking fighting, fuck the haters

To put things into perspective, Trap was drafted right about the same time that IdrA went to Korea to begin training with eSTRO. Playing on maps that are fairly difficult for TvP IdrA looked like he was not very far behind the curve at all. What's impressive is that he had Trap on the ropes for most of the first two games, and considering he's on STX's A-Team, that's an encouraging sign.
To all you people bitching about IdrA, how about we look at how the other players that were drafted a year ago (right about the time he went to Korea) are doing: + Show Spoiler + So, only 5/44 (11%) players have made it past the prelims and only 9/44 (20%) have played in a non-Gom league.
- 11/44 (25%) are on the A-Team
- 19/44 (43%) are on the B-Team
- 14/44 (32%) are already retired/unknown status
Seeing that he belongs in the middle group, IdrA seems to be par for the course as far as gamers who are just about a year into their progaming career. From what I understand, it takes 2-3 years for most players to get to a point to where they can contribute on the A-Team (as long as they haven't retired already), and if IdrA showed any major results before then he would be doing exceptional.

to annotate that, idra was a shitload worse than most of those players a year ago

Man, everywhere I look more By. members. Like the entire By. team got drafted into progaming. lol

Where did I say top foreigner terran? Oh and now the maps are the reason why Idra lost so bad? Okay , so foolish by my side , pretty obvious Idra would have crushed him on any other maps...

Better luck next time Idra! Going 1-3 vs. an A-teamer on that map pool ain't too bad at all.
