should be easy for Lecaf, I think they'll take sets 2,3, and 4. 3-1 Lecaf.
|
Ahh, there we are. Was wondering when someone was going to make a thread for this =P

3-1 for lecaf dropping only game 1

3-1 Lecaf, lomo bites the dust.

hey quick question whats this music before the game called?
|
|
Lets predict how Jaedong will rape Zero...
|
why on earth would you send a slumping terran out on medusa to play against free? must have some all-in build planned
|
daum stream says eSTRO for some reason
|
Does anybody have the daumsports stream working?
|
Oh god Lomo lost all of his marines and 1 tank FBH style.
|
did i just see a brewers hat?? wow thats awesome
|
|
LOL LOMO FUCKING RAPED BY M INE
|
|
Well that mine was clearly a great idea
|
he had no choice lol..dead anyway..may as well go out with a bang. "No one will murder my scvs but me" was probably the rationale or "we die together".

Quick recap-
Lomo moves out with Tank, 5 marines, vulture building in factory with mine upgrade
Free uses goon micro to kill everything but the vulture with 4 dragoon
Free uses more goon micro to clear a few mines as Lomo pulls SCVs. Lomo's CC is delayed. Lomo's ebay is delayed.
Free techs to DT
Free sacs his goons to clear mines for DTs
Free's DT own everything. Lomo unable to set-up a comsat.
Free mine drags into a BUNCH of SCVs
Lomo GGs

When does this game start? Would be nice if the game times were in the OP or don't you know the times yet?

i hear it starts on the 17th

Well, Free's small unit micro still rocks.

It started 20 min ago. The game time are on the calendar in the upper right, and if you have trouble converting your time to Korean time, there's a handy dandy Korean time clock in the upper right as well and you can do the math yourself.
|
free = lower tier micro king.
|
I wouldn't be sad if JD lost this, he's reached 80%, he's reached 2301 ELO, I'm content.
Though I still want him to rape Zero's ass.
|
Even though Jaedongs ZvZ is godlike I always fear he will lose, ZvZ is such a nerve crusher

That mine was epic btw. I would have gged too.

Thanks. This is the first game I've watched live.

That was pure fail from Lomo. Even an amateur could put up a better game than that.
|
I want to see ggaemo play again.
|
Good luck to Jaedong and Zero
|
Zero - teal, bot left
JD - orange, top right
Zero - 9pool, 9gas?
JD - 12 pool, 11 gas
|
hey i missed the spanws did anyone catch them
|
|
Zero techs to lair, after 6 ling pop
JD plants a Hatchery at nat.
8 lings vs 8 near JD's base.
|
damn jaedong you are so smart!
|
Zero's spire about 250 hp faster than JDs
Zero plants a hatch at his nat.
|
|
|
EDIT: JD cancelled his hatch when Zero's first lings came. and has a hatch in his base instead (close to his nat's gas though)
|
Yeah this is actually looking bad for JD.
Very cute with the gas maneuver, though =)
|
|
Wow zero showing his micro skills
|
omg ://///////////////////////////// this sucks
|
2 muta, pair of scourge for zero
3 pairs of scourge for JD
Zeros' scourge takes out an OL
JD's take out a muta?
4 muta, 2 scourge zero vs 2 muta 4 scoure JD
Wow, i go back to the game and Jd is getting raped.

|
Very nice for Zero. I suppose Jaedong has to lose sometime.

This was pretty much a BO loss by Jaedong. He went 12 hatch, and Zero went overpool I think. After JD was forced to cancel his hatch at natural, he was behind. Also he had to pull drones to fight the lings and the beginning.

Dumb build by Jaedong. ZerO had top-notch control no doubt but JD was behind from the get-go by choosing a greedy build that, when faced with overpool, left him with slower ling speed slower spire and no expansion.

I was talking about this topic: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=86032
Currently Jaedong is sitting at 2301 ELO in ZvZ, which is the second highest ELO for a matchup ever. The highest? Iloveoov's TvZ at 2309. Savior's ZvP peaked at 2270, which is the third best. Not many other players even come close-
This is the stuff of legend, no doubt.
Jaedong's ZvZ is unreal, and I mean that in every sense of the word. Just as oov seemed utterly unstoppable at the time in TvZ, Jaedong looks as invincible. There's endless speculation on how anyone could possibly be so good at ZvZ, but in the end we have only the solid facts - Jaedong has now reached 80% in the matchup after 60 games, going 48-12.

Okay so after watching the 15 seconds i missed....
JD "short distance" mines his natural's gas with 5drones
JD rushes lings+scourge vs Zero's lings +muta
Zero wins that battle losing 2 muta. Zero comes back with 5 muta vs JD's 3 muta+scourge
Zero uses awesome micro losing 1 muta, while killing everything else with his muta+newly built scourge
As if that wasn't enough, Zero also sends lings into JD's main to attack as well.
JD gg's.

Alright, I really have to hope this goes to ace now, even if it means someone eventually losing to Jaedong.
It's a rather easy thing to not care if Child and Darling win anyhow.
Seriously what are with these matchups? Young Child, Hiya Darling?
|
lol he must be really happy after losing a PL game
|
Young has posted some sexy results so far, even though its not big and we can expect hiya's experience to come through for us!

I would be so happy if Stars 3-0'd Lecaf. They need to be taken down a notch.
|
Why did Woongjin suddenly stop using MVP? He wasn't that bad compared to their other terrans..
|
I really would love another free v jaedong game in Ace, with free winning ^_^
|
Zero didn't go overpool as far as I can remember, he went 9 pool speedlings, while jaedong went 12 pool-> gas into expo at natural. JD was forced to cancel the hatch and remake it at his ramp while being later than Zero on gas, and Zero pretty much got up his hatch at his natural at the same time. There was no way JD was going to win that barring some really dumb mistake by Zero, which he didn't make.
It was a complete BO win by Zero but JD should've chosen a safer build against someone with a sub 50% ZvZ record.
|
Young 1 gate tech
Child 12 pool, hatchery in main
|
Lings over Young's ramp blocked by 3 zlots
Child expo's to his nat.

Lair tech + hydra den going down

I really don't think Young should have pursued this build once he scouted cross positions...and once his initial attack failed, he definitely should have teched rather than simply continuing to suicide zealots.

That last game was painful. After Young's fairly successful timing attack (contained zerg), I was expecting some ingenious transition. When he kept on suiciding zealots, I thought "well he must be saving gas for some aweome tech switch". We see his base and he has done nothing. Well, he at least tried to gain an economical advantage, right? No expansion, I'm not even sure if he made a forge. What did he expect? Wave after wave of unupgraded zealots, an economic AND tech disadvantage... He didn't even start making goons when the first scourge scouted his base, he waited till he started getting raped by mutas before bothering with it.
I feel like he could have won that game had he only had some sort of plan. Really it felt like the kind of mistake an amateur would make.
|
|
Scouts. Wonderful. Yet, it's all thrown away too. Gah, Worst way in which to see them used in a proleague game.
|
...Now Lecaf loses 0-3 to Woongjin? Seriously? =X I find this about as surprising as recent OSL news. I wonder how many people would have gotten this correct if there had been a Liquibet for the match.

To all saying Young should have backed off, expanded, teched, etc after the failed attack:
It was an all-in build. He cut probes and gas to get 4 gate pumping that fast. After his first wave was killed he had no chance unless Child fucked up anyway. He can't just expand or continue on from that position. Young's game costing mistake was letting the zerglings in to see the 4 gate. If he had kept the ramp blocked Young could have got another round of production before being forced to attack and possibly broken the front for the game win.

I agree with your analysis except for one point. After the initial attack, no number of waves of zealots could possibly break the position. Even though teching or expanding would have been terrible, it seems to me like it was the only way he could have gotten any shot at winning.

My words exactly, I have no idea why are people so pumped about JD's ZvZ winning percentage...

This is such a depressing result :-(
And yet, it doesn't surprise me much. I was really worried from the moment lecaf announced their new Young/Lomo/Hiya/Jaedong lineup for this week, with Jaedong playing ZvZ in both. I'm glad young and lomo are getting experience but at the same time?
And although it sucks Jaedong lost a ZvZ... he broke the 80% barrier, which was supposed to be absolutely impossible. He was due a loss and better now (when they'd probably have lost anyway) than in Round 3. I have zero faith in Hiya's TvT.

When I saw that results have only three entires I was sure that Lecaf took it 3:0. It took me a while to realize that it was actually the other way around. From LR seems like Free vs Lomo is a fun game to watch.

Jaedong wins because of his massive amounts of skill. 80% winning percentage DOES NOT occur randomly, if ZvZ was just a toss up, which it is not then you would expect JD to have something like 50% ZvZ.
Have you seen Jaedong's games? There are several where he 12 hatches against a 9 pool and still wins. The reason he lost this time was because he was greedy on a 2 player map, I have no doubt that he would have won if he had gone 12 pool or overpool.
Luxury's ZvZ back from when he was winning more was just as convincing, many times the games were one sided rapes just like Jaedong's games.
Just because ZvZs are short does not mean that winning them means nothing.

Ouch Savior lost to someone who got beat by Child...

umm I'm pretty sure jaedong went something like 13 pool/gas into 12 hat or 12 pool/gas same time. Not 12 hat

Do you realize I was joking?
edit: To be more specific...Highways is probably a huge JD's fan. I think he actually tried to DEFEND Jaedong. In a way "One ZvZ win means nothing, it's his play and the 80% winning percentage which makes JD so unique, so don't jump on any conclusion about Zero's ZvZ just because he beaten him today". Yet, he structured his post in such a way that totally disregards JD's strongest matchup. I just couldn't resist to reply .

Oh, Zero. Loses to Justin then beats Jaedong two days later.

Right I'm an absolute noob get owned day in day out but this is what i thought. You can tell me why I am wrong if you like .
Just talking about Jaedongs game; I thought Jaedong could have had that if he built more mutas instead of scouge. He built at least 8 scouge first so 4 lots of scouge. The other guy whats his name Zero was first to put up his spire so maybe he might have felt he needed scouge to counter the mutas been out first. But if he just built mutas first he would have been about equal in the muta fight and probably out microed the guy.
I'm probably wrong because either he didn't have enough psi because his overlord got sniped or some other reason.like not enough vesapene gas. But i just don't know why he built so many scouge, they just got snipped one by one. Maybe he thought the other guy was a noob and could micro against scouge I don't know i just remember been surprised when the scouge popped out and thinking what, really. That many scouge.

Lol, Sorry to reply to my own post but has anyone seen what Lecaf's (the company not the team) catch phrase is. Anytime sports!, lol thats brilliantly ironic.
I probably should have read all of this thread before posting at the end because I'm sure what I've said must have been spotted by someone else.

A few things.
1. Jaedong went 12 hatch and forced to cancel it when Zero 9 pooled. 2. Jaedong put his 2nd hatch up the ramp, and had to use I believe 5 or 6 drones to mine the gas optimally. 3. Zero put his hatch at the natural where he could mine gas with 3 drones.
Basically, Jaedong was FORCED to use more scourges because he was WAYYYYYYY behind when the air units for both popped out.

Jaedong went 12 pool as far as I can tell, not 12 hatch. VOD is up on youtube if you feel like double checking. But otherwise I agree with what you said.
|
Zeros muta micro is insane, he was microing 2 ctrl groups like nothing..I doubt jd thought he was noob thats almost silly to even suggest.
|
fair enough guys. I'm learning see. Pretty new to watching starcraft as basically a sport, starcraft vods and beer awesome. So this stuff probably seems obvious to you guys but i totally don't pick up on it yet.
So basically Jaedong went for a more econ based game and got surprised by the quick pool from Zero, which meant he had to cancel his expansion as he couldn't defend it from the lings. Which then put him behind as Zero put up his expansion and couldn't afford the mutas when he needed them.
Cheers for addressing this, i genuinely didn't understand.

Watching Lecaf get owned makes me feel all warm inside, good games.
|
Nice way to end up R2. When I saw only 3 vods, I honestly thought: "poor Stars, getting owned 3-0". I coulnd't be more wrong.
|
Game 1 Lomo losing the 1st tank put him in a horrid position. Losing it gave him trouble defending against the goons pressuring his building CC as well as delaying his tech such as engineering bay.
Game 2 Build order lost, not much more to say than that. However Jaedong has recovered from worse situation in the past.
Game 3 Brillant use of scouts by Young. Young did an allin build so it was basically GG if the initial attack failed. He can't make forge or expand like people are suggesting since all the resources were spent on the zealots while cutting probes. With all the overlords lost, I didn't expect Child to recover from that attack so quickly.
