i like tasteless casting but i hate that m0tha f*king gomtv video loader. really pisses me off.
and i didnt have the courage to watch flash get anal'ed 3-0 by jaedong i did re-watch his +2 gol vs stork on GSI though.

Use Download Helper to get the videos from their site and watch it in any video player.

Can't wait! Do you think more a bunch of teams will be boycotting it again?
Also Hopefully they will make the VODs at least on par with youtube quality.
|
I've been finding VODs higher quality that youtube. :/
|
Yes, I'm so excited for more Tasteless casting!
|
sweet tasteless is employed for another season
get that man his money
plus i'm happy we'll get to enjoy his casting
|
I hope savior plays again
|
I hope idra gets to play in this :D. His first tv exposure would be pretty nice

I hope more teams show for this...last season's just didn't catch my attention without SK Telecom T1 players in the running.
|
Last season was very entertaining, but like everyone sais it'd be much better if all the teams participated.
|
Yeah I'd love if all the other teams played, it would really cement it as my favorite tournament, mostly because of Tasteless. <3
Oh, and I love "Will YellOw win?" [NC]..YellOw for GOMTV title ftw.

IDRA GETS A SPOT IN THE Ro128????!?!?!
|
since he has a prolicense couldnt idra techinically compete in this?
|
Gogo Tasteless! Can't wait for this season. I'll even have two friends watching with me this time. One nice thing about being a Seattle team fan is that I have no problem just overindulging in Starcraft fandom once my teams begin (read: continue) sucking. Here's to the new season, cheers!
|
Respect to all the casters but I hope the big news is that it's kespa sanctioned
|
imagine something like lilsusie casting with tasteless on a game that IdrA's playing vs Jaedong, and IdrA wins.
Edit: Definitely hope its KeSPA sanctioned as well.
|
On September 16 2008 08:32 SkepTicAL wrote:I hope idra gets to play in this :D. His first tv exposure would be pretty nice That would be great, and because of the way GOM is set up, he could actually [IMO] have a chance of taking down a few opponents. Not far, but any kind of exposure is great.

I think kespa sanctioning is about the best change that could happen to the tournament

Not casting, but there's a source out there that's been translated, and yes, SlayerS_`BoxeR` is participating.

oh maybe we should move the stream so that it's convienient for you and not the players. maybe we should ask the players and producers and stage tech to all wake up a 5am on our side to make it better for you, mr. "I live on the east coast and i want it all to be catered to me". you can up load the vods yourself too so that they aren't in the shitty format you dont like.
you know what i'd like? i'd like for the community to just be happy with whatever they get that is offered to them from korea. that'd be nice.

So only some of the games will be casted? Will they all be released as VODs (with or without commentary), or just the ones on those lists? I'm very confused.

No Jaedong, Yellow, or Shuttle in the list?
People I'd love to see make it far into the tournament: IdrA, Dream.t)1988, Flash, Lomo, Boxer, Nada, Fanta[Shield], Piano, Mind, Best (and if I missed something about Jaedong, Yellow, and Shuttle then them too)

BYES are like freebies, automatically advancing to the next round. So seeded players for the OSL and MSL essentially get byes until their phase of the tournament.

Bracket A - Group 8 is KizoO_Major not EffOrt, will fix later.

nice pachi
what does the underline mean? (why are some players underlined, and some not?)
|
so idra only has to beat neel to make it to next round which is being broadcasted right?
|
Pachi, 3 possible corrections in Group A:
chavi[name] should be Crazy-Hydra effort should be KizoO_major H_Falcon_W is listed as 김경훈 (not in TLPD)
I'm just going off of the spreadsheet LilSusie posted. They could be typos there I suppose. Did you have a different source?
Thanks for the work.

On September 21st GOM will be launching their second season of the GOM Averatec | Intel Classic. 180 players from STX Soul, CJ Entus, Lecaf OZ, Samsung KHAN, KTF MagicN's, SKTelecom T1, WeMade Fox, Hanbit Stars, and AirForce ACE will duke it out for the $40,000 first prize. With so many big names playing this season it is sure to produce an exciting event for the fans and the players.
The event will be held every Sunday with exception of the 23rd and the 30th of September and it will be held at the GOM Studios in Mokdong, South Korea.
The players will be playing on the 2008-2009 Proleague maps: Chupung Ryong, Requiem, Andromeda, Colosseum, Raid Assault, Sword in the Moon, and Destination. The reemergence of old favorites and some new ones mixed in the tournament is sure to produce interesting matches.
The format will consist of the top 32 players from KeSPA's September ranking being seeded into the 2nd round (ro64). The non-seeded players will have to fight it out in the ro256 where only the top 32 will be able to advance into the ro64.
With a collective prize pool of $105,000 the GOM Averatec | Intel Classic is one of the largest tournaments in Korea. The 1st place finisher will receive $40,000, the 2nd place finisher will receive $15,000, the two losers of the semi-finals will receive $10,000 each, and the 4 losers of the ro8 will receive $5,000 each. Finally, to top it off the individual the wins the most games consecutively in the tournament will win $10,000.
(thanks DeadVessel for prettying up my information)

Clon is retired, correct? Daezang plays in group 10 in bracket A, which pachi hasn't posted yet. His match, and all ACE matches (from what I checked) will be broadcast.

Ah no Estro? Figures. Dont make senese though but I can see why. And no OGN or MBC? Makes no sense. Oh well, but why does Shuttle have top start in Ro256/128? He was 4th! He shouldve got an auto bid and not had to go through it all again. Oh well, Ill be watching!

Also for the Idra games and Air Force ACE games, someone please let us know when they are available on GOM Player.

OGN and MBC don't want GOM to start having their own league. What happened is that they once used to compete with each other, but now they are getting together and ganging up on GOM because they are a new competitor. No, this is not Kespa santioned still from what I know.
and eSTRO... well, eSTRO is a part of IEG and IEG doesn't seem to like GOM or something like that..
ACE members are all playing on Oct 2nd, Tuesday at 1pm KST. which makes it good for you Americans!

Bisu was traded to SKT at the beginning of last season (by beginning I mean right before it started.) So we are missing Sea, zerg twins, and that is about it. And did I mention Sea[sheild] (he is that much bigger than the others IMO). Estro sea.really might have been worth seeing and Upmagic always makes an entertaining game, but it is nothing that major.

I think the gomtv vods needs some work. First of all, its impossible (at least for me) to skip forward in the vod. The only thing that happened when I tried to do it, was that the entire vod started over again.
One of the VODs are broken, but I guess thats just something that happens once in a while.
If there's a BO5 it should always be links to 5 games. If its 3-0, then the link to the 4th and the 5th game shouldve just been empty. This would prevent spoilers.
The quality sucks too.

They are all bo3.

Only problem with season 2 is that lilsusie should talk more during the actual game. I heard that in Korea certain commentators are regulated certain duties in commentating, which makes sense, its organized. Nonetheless, I think lulsusie should be a bit more direct in her thoughts of the games progress, rather than once in a while saying "oh wow hes getting owned" or something.
But, considering its her first time commenting [I think? At least on tv lol] she did a good job.
|
Probably i am blind, but where can I find an overview of all results?
|
Lilsusie doesn't have the experience casting of Nick yet, give her some time to grow into the role.
|
Is there somewhere where you can find the brackets and standings. Besides the schedule of the next 4 matches

The seasons quota of epicness was taken by the TSL and JF 3:2 Draco from being down 0:2. It might not be a professional league, but it still was an epic final that was totally worth seeing.

They (OGN and MBC) actually state explicity "starleague" especially in logos and various other watermarks(the S with the star), whereas Gom specifically calls its tournament the "Classic."
And also, the Classic has no qualifying pre-lims, it isnt kespa sanctioned, some teams refuse to participate, the elimination process is different than both starleagues..... It's completely different.
So I ask again, genuinely (not trying to invoke flame), why don't we pay homage to the makers of the tournament and call it the "Classic" instead of branding it the "GSL"?

GC just doesn't sound cool, GSL has the OSL ring to it.

DLing from the tracker doesn't involve a single click on Gom's site, resulting in them underestimating the actual number of viewers. We don't want that happening. I will post VODs in the Small VOD thread though. This won't hurt Gom as you will use their link, so watching it through Yakii's thread will technically be counted as a click on GOM. The post format makes it + Show Spoiler + too, so no more anticlimax when you come to see the final and see only 3 new VODs.
PS : Lilsusie, you did great last time. Keep up the good work!

The quality sucks too. They are all bo3. Well I hope you understood what I was trying to say anyway, if theres nothing but bo3's, then have links to 3 games. If I go watch the vods, and I see theres only 2 games played, I know who's gonna win game 2 when I've seen the first vod.

To emulate that effect, play with the URL instead of clicking the links. Say you're watching darkelf vs stay game 1, by using the link http://www.gomtv.net/classics2/vod/263 . simply change the 263 to 264 for game 2, and 265 for game 3. then carry on with 266 for the next set. Skip the matches/games you don't want to see.

the games can't just suddenly get sanctioned can they? Its starting next season i guess? orelse it would be unfair for those who didnt participate because of that.

entertainment value is subjective I guess what I meant was traditionally progamers put more practice time into things that have an impact on kespa rankings than things that don't. Probably because they have to split their practice time between leagues. This can easily put GSL on the same level of importance since the money is already there.

I too think GSL games are a lot more entertaining than MSL/OSL so far. In terms of level displayed by players during the game... I think it is debatable. But despite the incredible line ups, neither MSL nor OSL are fulfilling our expectations so far imo. And neither of them has Tasteless and Lilsusie.

The whole point is to watch out for the next great palyer, MSL/OSL have to many of the established players, and it really sucks to watch them under-perform as well. At least the newbs have good reasons to be mediocre.

The turn over is too fast, there can be no big thing unless we weed out those with a short shelf life. We need established players to form a fan base, to form consistent results through seasons. Having one player rise to dominating levels, then collapse the next season, is bad for business. GOM is still an interesting tournament mind you, but the OSL/MSL are looking for long term sustainability, and we will find the next 'bonjwa' there, not in GOM.
Either way, facts are facts. The people in the OSL/MSL are currently better than the people playing in the round of 168 in Gom.
