The number of foreigners sent to Korea could be as low as one, or as high as five. It depends on how the tournament goes.
Here are some VODs of the top sixteen going up against Korean progamers. If you're not familiar with how some of these foreigners play, check these matches out!
+ Show Spoiler +
Playing Starcraft well is only one reason why a foreigner would be invited to Korea. Showing a sense of dedication and hard work is important, too. That's why each member of the top 16 was asked to write a little bit about themselves and why they want to be chosen to go to Korea.
NonY: + Show Spoiler +Hi, my name is Tyler Wasieleski, I'm 22 years old and I'm from San Antonio, Texas, USA. I Love the game of Starcraft and I'm an avid follower of the e-Sports scene in Korea. I really would like to contribute to the community that has brought me so much entertainment and happiness. My deepest, ultimate goal is to become a StarLeague player and create a surge in e-Sports and the best game in the world, Starcraft. But I realize talking like that is arrogant and such an accomplishment is far in the distance and so I'm mentally prepared for a long stay in Korea. I want to become a progamer because I admire the dedication and professional atmosphere of progaming in Korea and I'd Love to be a part of that. I believe I have a mature and grounded desire to become a progamer - as a 22-year-old in the USA, I have received some higher education and have been out in the real world, but after much time and thought I know for certain that I want to pursue progaming with 100% effort.
I want to become a progame because I want to the the very best Starcraft play that I can be. I want to be the guy raising the bar for mechanics rather than the guy trying to keep up and I want to be the guy creating the new best strategy rather than the guy trying to understand what others have done. I want to push my potential to the max by getting tons of practice against the best in the world rather than practicing a fraction of the time against amateurs. I think back to an interview with Ma Jae-Yoon:
Why did you decide to become a progamer at a relatively young age? Savior: Back in those days I was just like any other student who loved to game during free time. Occasionally I had oppertunities to play against progamers. Of course, I lost most of them but I actually won a couple. That's when I thought, "Wow, if I were given the same amount of practice time as these progamers, I don't think I would ever lose." It was that possibility and the confidence that made me become a progamer.
I can identify very much with this answer and I really hope to have a chance to show my potential.
Something interesting about me is that I was one of the best Red Alert, Red Alert: Aftermath and Dune 2000 players back when I was only 12-14 years old! I stayed on top of the official ladder of those games for many months, getting first multiple times. I woke up early before school and played games to improve my rank and skill and I also played after school, of course. It was funny explaining to my parents the letters of congratulations that I received from Westwood (the games' creators) and the prizes I received in the mail. Even though I've taken a long break from being one of the best in the world at a video game (I preferred competing in sports throughout high school and college), I am ready to do it again! Fenix: + Show Spoiler +My name is Jian Carlos Joan Morayra Alejo, I am 16 yrs old, I was born in Lima-Peru, and everyone knows me as Fenix.
I started playing starcraft at the age of 9, since then, my goal has been to represent my country as best as posible, and today I reached hat goal and have had many opportinities to represent my country in international tournaments.
I traveled as champion of WCGPERU2007, to USA, Seattle, also represented the whole of Latin america in the tournament known as IEST-Ievnovo 2007 in China-Beijing and two months ago I won the WCG2008 Pan American Championship, taking the first place in Monterrey-Mexico, as of for Online tournaments, at the age of 11 I won my first 1500$ in the Sandlot Blizzard tournament, I have won over 30 online tournaments, my last tournament being the scforall tournament/league, finishing in 1st place. For years now im a proud representant of my country.
I have always been in the top notch teams such as iG.(at its prime) xLo. LRM) and now Excello. I am also a member of the korean team “By.” On west, and go by the name of By.Fenix.
My biggest goal and dream, is to become a progamer, since I admire the great dedication, skill and self-sacrifice that the progamers adquire in order to be able to fullfill their own goals.
I strongly believe that I have the perfect 16 age requirements to become a great progamer. For years I’ve awaited for this chance, and I am not going to let it slip for nothing in the world. ClouD: + Show Spoiler +I'm Carlo from Italy, I'm 21 and my Starcraft id is ToT)ClouD(. I don't really have much to say besides I want to become a progamer because I want to win a Starleague. This is my goal and I will give all I have to achieve it. My main hobby is Starcraft of course and I'd gladly go to Korea because I absolutely Love korean culture and I would like to live it first hand. DinOt: + Show Spoiler +Hello, my name is Cristobal and I'm 16. I live in Santiago, Chile and I go to school. My ID is MYM.DinOt, Im zerg user and like to play agressive. I started playing three years ago because starcraft it's really funny and competitive. I would like to play in Korea because its seems like a nice experience, playing in a very different country and training to be the best. Something interesting about me is that when propose something to myself I always do it no matter what, and now my goal is go to Korea. G5: + Show Spoiler +My name is Eric Rothmuller aka Qoo)G5. I am from California, USA, I am 20 years old (soon 21) and I am a Protoss player. I want to come to Korea as a progamer simply because it is what I have always wanted to do, it is my dream. I feel that if given this opportunity and enough time to practice I have the potential to not only compete in the Koreans leagues but succeed in them. I would practice 16 hours a day, non-stop, push myself as hard as I can and give it my all. I have been playing for 10 years and I understand the game very well. I have school and work which doesn't leave me as much time as I would like to play Starcraft but I Love the game and play it as much as I can.
I play a very unique style of Protoss which many people have told me and I often theorize and think about unique builds / unit combos for certain match ups / maps. I am not just a robot who copies builds from pros and do it over and over. My weak points are my mechanics which I can easily improve on if given all day to practice and my strong points are my intelligence in the game. I have always followed the progaming scene and would absolutely Love to take it on and experience it first hand. I have real determination for being a successful player, not just an average player.
My favorite unit combo is Scout / DT in PvZ (sounds stupid but my training partners say its the most imbalanced thing in the world ^_^). My favorite match up is PvZ because it is a very beautiful match up with good unit combinations. My 2nd favorite match up is PvT simply because I Love thinking up build orders for different maps to get around the ever predictable Terran player. PvT is also probably my best match up because I am really good at keeping track of Terran movement and have a lot of experience in PvT. I have been to Korea before and I understand what I am getting into when I say I want to become a progamer. Outside of Starcraft, I really enjoy playing Tennis. This is my other passion, it is also a fantastic game. My favorite players are sAviOr, Iloveoov, Reach and Jaedong. My favorite team is Air Force Ace and my favorite match of all time was the OSL Finals Boxer vs iloveoov.
All I can really say in regards to becoming a progamer is that I understand the position I would be in, where my skill level is at the moment and how much I would need to improve and that I would give it my absolute best so that I will never have any regrets about how hard I tried. I will give it my heart and soul and that is all I can do. I don't know what else I can say about myself.
Thank you for this opportunity. - Eric "G5" Rothmuller DeSka: + Show Spoiler +Hello I뭢 Alejandro, Online ID : NaH_DeSkA, I live in Michoacn, Mexico, I am 17 years old, my history began 10 years ago, I start playing when my brother used to play, he was teaching me, I used to play with him and his friends, I liked so much BW that was interrogating me to come very highly, nevertheless motivate me more when a friend of mine that I was played with him got invited to Korea to the big leagues, for my it was a big satisfaction to be still training, it was in 2001, My friend could not go and that made me disappoint, he said to me " you have talent and can exploit it simply with the age that you have " it helped myself to still on the road to go very far, I had a time in which i took a time off for questions of school but now I cannot leave the opportunity that it뭩 appearing to me For my more than other thing feel a great happiness on having seen that someone as me have the opportunity of giving to know to my country Mexico, not only to Mexico but to all the Latin players, for my has not been easy to come shaft here, nevertheless I have proposed many goals to me, in spite of the fact that I have had stumbles feel that they have helped me to be growing as player, has happened to me that the people do not play like before, now they play of different way since the time changed, they used only to win a simple game without mattering like, now what they do it is to play a motivated and entertaining game. My style is maybe a bit risky for a few players and maybe they don뭪 like it so much, but i like to play this way, i like to invent techs and to win using them, i would like to go to Korea to be even better and to be emphasized for being Latin and Mexican. ^^ Machine: + Show Spoiler +Hi my name is Bryce Bates and I am 20 years old. I live in USA. I am Machine[Media], my hobbies are basically watching UFC, Jujitzu and starcraft. I have been playing this awsome game for about 5-6 years now " about 4 years if im only counting non money maps and 1v1". It has always been my dream to go to korea and to compete at a professional level. I picked Zerg because i like their mobility, I like their macro, and I Love mutal control :D. I think that I have what it takes to go to korea because I am still at a young age, I am willing to learn and I want to be the best. I have the drive to play this game at a professional level, I am constantly improving, I already play on average about 40-50 games a day, and if I was in a pro house surrounded by awsome practice partners I believe my skill would multiply. I am not saying im the best out here though, I know I am far from it but in a matter of months already I have managed to turn myself into a much better player and their is still alot of room for improvement that I am more than willing to fix. Another thing that i believe is one of my better traits is my speed, I average about 280 apm which is alot higher than most forginers and is on a competitive level with most koreans. I think that if i was given a chance to play on a professional team at a professional level that I could make something of myself. I completly understand what a change moving to korea and trying to become a progamer would be and I am willing to accept that. I would just Love to become a part of the community that I have watched for so many years and to finnaly be given a chance to prove my worth to it.
Thank you for giving me this chance! ZpuX: + Show Spoiler +Hey there, I'm ZpuX from sweden, currently studying mechanical engineering. Always thought it would be cool to go to korea as a progamer, because I Love to play competitive and I see this as a big opportunity to do what I've always wanted.
A funny fact, my sister is adopted from south korea when she was ~1 years old, she is also the very same person who introduced me to starcraft for the first time. I bet they are born with a starcraft gene somewhere!
Predator: + Show Spoiler +Hello everyone, I'm 20 years old male student of IT living in Poland and my name is Jacek Sendrowski also known as Predator, zerg user .I'm a StarCraft player since 2000 and almost from beggining i wanted to go to Korea and play with the best out there. Now when i have the chace... it's really nice and incredible feeling. After a one year break i was still able to qualify into TOP16 of such prestigious Qualification Tourney like Spirit.
So yeah, i was only 12 when i began my journey with StarCraft. At that time i've heard there will be a small tourney organized in my City, so i prepared with my brother. That was the first time when i felt Love to this game.I've met a lot of friends which are still playing even today. From that time i've improved a lot i think.I didn't had any great success but now its my time!
I'm a person which knows what wants to do,i have spirit for this game and always try to give 110% from myself.Every game counts for me, i'm analyzing my own loses to get better and better. Also i'm following Korean Progaming scene.
I think that i'm able to suprise everyone and show my skills,my 8 year experience can prove this for sure.
Also cheers for polish community (hi Netwars.pl) and thank you Artosis for such a chance.I'm coming for yaaa~ Arcneon: + Show Spoiler +Hi my name is Matti and I'm 21 years old. I livei n Finland, Rauma and I Love SC! My online ID is iG.Arcneon. I'd Love to be a progamer right now, it would just time wisely fit in my life now. I've been interested of this game since it came out and I immediately started playing online, It's been 10 years now and I'm still playing the game, and as far as I know I'm pretty good at it too. I have a lot potential, I can game on for hours and hours, days to days and weeks to weeks and apparently year to year ;p I know I can become a lot better player than what I am at the moment, simply because I'm NOT at my top at the moment. I just came back about a month ago or so from almost 2 years off bw time, I was doing military service and other stuff in life during this time, but now I find myself playing the game again, I've been playing past 2 weeks pretty hard to get my skills back and I think I'm doing a fine job. I still play without any sounds whatsoever, I just totaly rely on my minimap observing on gamewise, I like to listen to music a lot so winamp is just playing on the background 24/7. I'm a totally evolving player, I don't think I am the best, ever. I always take my opponents seriously and play my best game. When I find holes in my games, I tend to fix them the best possible ways I can imagine of. I don't really care of the game results I'm having if I have evolved during the game, for exsample, about 2 weeks ago I was not very good still, my macro was totally off cause of the no-playing time I've had and I spotted this, so I just played and did nothing but concentrated on my macro. I lost many games cause of this but I was very happy after a week because my macro had gotten way... WAY better. Now I can match top players with my macroing again, which obviously is needed. Every game I lose, if I don't know why I lost, I always find it out. Doing this lead me to saving every single rep I've played since the replay saving option came available. If I don't know what went wrong, I will look the replay as many times as needed to see it, and when I see it, I fix it. I know there's better players than me, and always will be. But I can shape up a lot and give just about anyone a good run for their money. I'm a very dedicating person, when I want to do something, I do it the best I can, and everything on the side can stay on the side. I'm totally focused to what I do at the time. My old dream was to become a progamer when I was younger, I haven't had this dream for couple years, but when I heard about this tournament, the old dream came alive. I want to become a progamer and I'm willing to do a lot to get there. Right now all I do is exersize and play sc hoping all the time that I would get picked out. Well that's about it, I go play some games ! And thanks a lot for making a tournament like this, I just wish it would have been a lot earlier when I was in shape Huge inspiration still, great job ! HoRRor + Show Spoiler +Hi, I'm Marius Overhagebck also known as mTwAMD-HoRRoR from Germany. I have been playing Starcraft for five years now (3 years "lowmaps") and I'm still interested in competing with other good players, I like the competition in general. I'll enjoy the hard fights and lets see if I'll be able to win. My race is terran and I like to play an uncommon style. Looking forward to the tournament matches ;p.

DeSka? lol, never heard of him^^
I predict Nony to take this, but CaStrO is a strong contender aswell.

NonY or Fenix would be cool.

So, the winner of this spot is gauranteed a spot in korea? Yes or no? Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere. Anyway this looks like a great tournament.

the only people that can eliminate Nony are P's and some t's.. Fenix is actually quite good TvP. Unfortunately any Z that hits Nony is toast (for that z.. nony is who I root for ).

No ZeRgJiHnO_o
|
Wow, not many Terran...
But I'm rootin' for CastrO and NonY.
|
Nony and Fenix are the "most ready" IMO. hope it's a good tournament O_O!
|
|
Nony and G5 have the most potential of all the players. No doubt about that.
Who has the most determination, dedication and nerves to be able to perform offline though? That i don't know.
Fenix is sort of an underdog too, beacuse of his young age he can develop alot over there.
|
You can't say someone like Nony has the most potential when there's people that are 6 years younger. For a 16 year old, 6 years is a lot.
But surely Nony is one of the strongest and certainly not too old.
Also, the older people have been playing for a long time. The younger ones haven't. Maybe that matters a bit.
|
Nony is gonna own up this tournie.

Rooting for By.Fenix. I like his flashy style.

Problem with Fenix is that he plays PvT, TvP and TvZ???

PvT PvZ TvP afaik
Although he can play both PvP and TvZ really well, so somtimes he likes to mix things up.
|
so who do you guys think will go? I am going to lean towards nony, castro, and dinot. I think arew would have a great chance however i read somewhere he had no intrest of being a pro. Why are there some big names missing like strelok? white-ra? misterzzz? I guess because they dont care about being pro but im pretty sure a few poeple up in the top ten dont either

How is that a problem? Nony is a stiff pure P player, he said. Having decent off race play is totally helpful since as a progamer he will have to learn that anyway.

I don't know if it'll have an impact on their decision to bring him over, but Fenix will almost certainly have to play TvT or PvP when he gets there.
|
I thought he was more of a P user than a T user o,o

Change the flag of castro. he is peruvian player...and fenix too...HDP..sino vayanse a la concha de su madre xD!!!!

lol dreamer... ese cooonchhh~
anyways, DeSka? I mean I ve seen his ID but I know for a fact he isnt in the top mexican players.. or maybe all the legends died like aSS, the other toss I forgot his name, gh-gisenm etc...? I dunno actually but I think they are taking people from everywhere etc right?

Sorry, dreamertoss... Castro is listed as a Bolivian in the TSLD. It's fixed now.

I am upset that White-rA didnt make it. He plays over 1k games per Iccup season...

I like G5, his builds are incredibly fun to watch, so go G5!

"I am upset that White-rA didnt make it. He plays over 1k games per Iccup season..."
I'm all for anyone of any age having a chance at anything, but white ra is very old isnt he? Like 27? No chance of being picked up even if he was 1st in spirit imo.

Didn't make it? There's a reason players like Mondragon, JF, White-Ra aren't taking part in this.
I mean, you aren't surprised that Draco, Testie, Artosis and Idra aren't playing in this, right?

I love Daniel Lee's commentating in the VODs. He is hysterical with the play-by-play action. He has a deep knowledge that comes from being an insider in Progamer's lives. And he has Pro training tips I've never heard before (like "play with the sound off" and "in the beginning of training, you have to be like a machine. later on, you can learn to be creative.")

I would guess he means because of your age, NonY, but I can't see it would be such a big deal.

Screw an age limit ! Realistically someone can play video gaems well into their 30's. The reason that I believe that they always stress on age in korea, is bcuz after a while your responsibilities as an adult, army duty etc. begin to take higher priority than pursuing a progaming career. But say that you lsoe your creativity and reflexes in your late twenties is ALOT of BS ! I'm the same age as NonY and I still wish I could become a progamer also.
+ Show Spoiler + But a noob Protoss from the C'bean would only be used as a media prop ;p. Imagine a black progamer, that'd be fucking art !

Obviously because by then you'll have won the Golden Mouse, and retired.

meh, id say arcneon is winning in terms of having the most heartfelt and compelling bio. Guy hasn't played in two years and comes back just to qualify for this tourney(well maybe idk), and gets a pretty solid record too. Cool story. Nony's bio is really cool too though, I like that he said during TSL that working out a lot helped his starcraft game by having the strong mind and body approach.

Question... What was the final rankings 1-16? I would hate it if I was 11th or 14th and I didnt get picked .

I'll be rooting for Nony/Cloud :D (Although Cloud has a shorter bio than the rest )

Unfortunately, it is difficult to answer your question. The ladder was here, but as you can see, it was reset after the 16 were chosen. I remember Machine being 11th on the ladder, though.

The best age to be a soldier in the army is between 20 and 35 years old, basically because you are in the top of your mental and physical aptitudes, great reflexes, a body shape to support all kind of challenges (even fear and nerves), and the state of mind of a grown up men to compromise really with your cause... Why this proportion Age/Quality change so drastically in SC? Come on boys... read the "Fan death?" in General forum... probably this "Young=Success" myth is more bs, like the Fan thing... looks like that koreans love to invent this kind of stuff...
And about Nony going to S. Korea with 22 years old, what´s the problem? Boxer is much older than Nony and keep owning younger players like he were a 18 years old teen... you just have put your 100% effort in training and pray for some talent (thing that Nony has and in big numbers...) and that´s it...

I think that Castro and his management-style zerg would have trouble adjusting to Korean macro and micro.
Good luck to all who try anyways.

I would hope that out of respect for the players' WCG tournaments and to prevent mass studying for the remaining Spirit matches themselves, they wouldn't release the iccup rep packs, especially considering they have plenty of great content with their VODs already.

Gogo Nony... As a Chapel Hill native I always rooted for the Duke toss, and your FPVODs introduced me to competitive Starcraft. I'd love to hear about your progress when you go to Korea!

jesus christ i wish a different site carried these vods. SCforall SUCKS for vods, if I am giving a video 10 minutes to load on a lan connection and it still can't play then that is complete failure.

What does lan have to do with anything?
Mine take no time to buffer and play smoothly throughout its course.
My internet is no colossus anyhow.... 6.0mbps

My internet is 128k shitty dsl ....
The only time I've had any trouble with the videos ever is when they go down universally. I think the site and player works great for my setup.

NonY and Fenix FIGHTING !

im cheering for nony since it think he has the best chance there because of his mechanics and more importantly i think he has the heart and soul to last in korea (although same can be said for others)
|
I hope NonY wins this, but I must admit he's kinda old...
|
meh, like others have said 22 is not really that old for gaming. i mean the peak age for most sports would be around 26 years old, so why would gaming be so much different
|
I dont get one thing theese are the only ppl interested of becaming a progamers ?? I mean if they get picked they will go for sure ? Because if they dont plan to go maybe they would just quit and give places to ppl that acctually consider to go for real.
I really dont understand what Deska and Predator are doing in that list.. Predator never been active last few months/years and Deska is not top player i think.

lol hood song !
I'm rooting for Dino and Horror ! GO GO !

DinOt* btw, for everyone wondering why Deska, probably the most unknown player on the list got picked, i'll tell you: i dled all the reps i could find of him from wgt (only 6) and in every game he had 350+ apm, this plus the fact that he's young and he was like top 20 in the spirit quali with a good record is a pretty decent reason for him to be in it :O
|
LOOOOOOL I CAN FINALLY COMMENT!, i don't understand the tool bar, im not in iG. anymore btw, for a few years now.
I love this pool of players i really do, Fenix Handy Castro my peruvian countrymen Matti punkari (Arcneon), Carlo (Cloud), Eric (G5), Predator, Tobias(Zpux) etc omg its a lovely pool of friends haha, and then there's nony whom i used to play somewhat with but not for a while and the new talents deska and dinot and horror but im too old for them.
Interesting fact also is over 60% of this players have been in iG., iG POWERHOUSE! (like i said im not iG. anymore but always have some pride for the good old iG.)
Peru WCG Finals are coming up today at 5pm... Fenix // Castro & HanDy are all qualified, and are the clear favorites and representatives of each race, I am closest with Fenix of those 3, but the other 2 are still friends and pretty damn good players, Darki is also in the finals, but i don't think he can do much in his current shape against these 3 montsters, so Im hoping Fenix wins Today WCG Peru, and hopefully the spirit tourney i think he fits the requirements best, but then again im being mean, cuz... I really love everyone in this pool, whoever becomes a progamer i'll be happy... (UNLESS ITS ONE OF THE NEWCOMERS I DON'T KNOW), GOOD LUCK TO ALL MY FRIENDS, MAY THE BEST ONE ON MY /F L WIN

Too bad that it only happens now. If he'd happen one year earlier, we would see sarens on that name list. The guy trained so hard to be a progammer at one point.

Voted ClouD because he's awesome 8D

Nony or G5, voted G5 because he's behind right now.
I had no idea Arcneon was thinking about going to Korea, awesome for him if he gets the chance.

I voted for nony, I think he has the determination needed for succeeding in korea. Again, when does the final tournament start ? I cant wait

Voting for Carlo

It's fine to watch them in order (game 1 then game 2). I think Deska vs Cloud was recorded before castro vs dinot, but it shouldn't matter because the results weren't spoiled.
I like how they're bringing in the various commentators. Nice commentaries.

if you watch the replay ... you didn't cause enough damage ... I was at 4 bases I believe 8 hats with drone saturation vs 2 base mass cannon and didn't scout your mass cannoning and lost suiciding units =(... then you took map control and slowly killed me instead of insta killing ....

About 12 or 13 of the 16 wouldn't come close to winning Courage in about 2 years time.
Sad that so many of the impressive foreigners didnt participate, anything else then Nony now and Korea's wasting money which is bad for future attempts at this stuff.

Passing courage isn't exactly easy.. especially when you run up against the guy who ends up winning the damn thing in the 4th round. Estro was a bunch of racist assholes who ignored greg.. his "pro training" was ICCUP. I know you hold a grudge against him (deservedly so, he is just as bm to you) but you are wrong to think that his courage performance has been bad or something.

I know courage isn't easy and my answer wasn't supposed to mean he's a newb (altho he has improved way too slowly since he has been in Korea, so he is the last person who should make any comment about anyone skills). I don't really hold any grudge against him as I see his attitude as the one of a depressed and a frustrated guy. Still having someone who goes around spreading shit about you trying to ruin your reputation so much just because he doesn't have anything better to do is not acceptable. And btw I guess this should end here before an huge uncalled flame starts out of a little comment of that guy.

No I am not going to start a flame war with you. I recognized that IdrA has been a dick to you and that your posts are in retaliation to that (I didn't see the posts in this thread prior to yours). I will however argue the Korea situation since I understand/know it better than you do as I speak to him on a daily basis and you are going off of results.. unfairly so as I pointed out.
This doesn't need to go on though you are right. I was just putting out there that greg can be a dick sure but his results in Korea don't need to be judged as they were.

I always thought he had the license handed to him by OGN, like they did to IdrA. And I also thought Legionnare was the only foreigner to win a courage league?

Yeah that's right, Leg was the only one and when Courage was nearly impossible to win. It is still hard to believe that Draco couldn't win a Courage though, his skill exceeded the requirements for a Courage win when he was in Korea.

Okay thanks. But uhm, maybe Draco would've got it later if he had stayed there for a bit longer. I thought be left a bit early, he was doing good and then suddenly decided to withdraw. Sad
But I would like to see you in Korea

Should be noted that Draco was better then Leg WHEN leg won his courage. Of course koreans didnt have the huge advantage in skills back then.
I wasn't following BW even monthly when he was in Korea so i will not comment on any of his actions there.
I cannot deny being impressed by his slacking skills as we speak though watching TSL, WCG Poland etc though and would still rate him as the foreigner with the highest potential when it comes to progaming today, which i hope he will show this WCG.

Idra went out of his way to pick on one of the best non-koreans when he in fact has yet to do anything with his training. I understand you are friends but even idra can hold his own nutts.... common now. The dude goes out of his way to be a prick and hasn't proven on any international or national level that at least he is backing it up with a high level of play.... I am rooting for any non-korean more then the next guy, but he is a big boy, if he is going to act like a faggot and talk shit to cloud why do you think you need to powerlift your way into it? Seriously the usa brotherhood is pretty lame....
What are you talking about? He hasn't done anything? He has done as much if not MORE than cloud so I don't see where you are going with this merit competition you fabricated. Winning the eSTRO tourney with Skew, Artosis, NonY, Xiaozi, G5, JF and a hacking Dino amongst others.. is very impressive. He has also gone to the 4th round of a Courage losing to the eventual winner.
I already said that it was obvious that IdrA was a dick. I said that several times in fact. What I was disputing is Cloud's response. He has a LOT of material to work with if he wants to make IdrA look/feel bad. He however chose a venue that I could argue with, as I did.

Your winning usa wcg is more impressive period. Winning any tournament which leads to a tournament that is actually in the kespa ranking is fair more important then any internet tournament. I'll put it like this, Idra hasn't proven to the international community on a wide scale that he has what it takes.
The level of the players wasn't my issue geoff it was you standing up for idra when he is going out of his way to bad mouth a player who gets alot more respect internationally then he does.... and for good reason. If you aren't winning starleagues then don't talk big.
And taking it back to the skill level you brought up do you really think idra is top 5 non koreans?
I just don't like watching idra get backup for shit he starts when he will most not do better then the winner of spirit....

I'm starting to notice you are staking a lot of claim in arbitrary stuff. Cloud gets recognition internationally.. hmm that is true, so does IdrA. Who gets more? We cannot tell. Neither of them are a Mondragon or Draco where it is obvious.
And your claim that in order to talk big you have to win star leagues isn't even held up on the top korean level. There are a lot of non star league winning trash talkers at that level (well, not A LOT but there are a few). Moving beyond the literal level it is still silly on the figurative. Talking crap is fun and a helluva lot more interesting than a bunch of subservient and silent gamers twittling thumbs and silently playing a game. Cloud was wrong in his response hence my "usa brotherhood" defense. You are defending your claim by artificially assigning value to a bunch of stuff that cannot be weighed.. which is fine... but illogical.

No offense to cloud, and I am really not trying to start another side argument, But he is not one of the best non-koreans. He is definitely very talented but there is a lot of gamers above his talent. And I'm assuming that when you say "one of the best non-koreans" you mean top 10.

I never intended to compare idra or clouds international recognition as a staple to my point. Infact I never even said cloud was even better then idra.
I stated that idra is talking shit .... in other words assuming he is in a position to judge anybody, when he has yet to show any talent himself he has shown that hard work helps but it still didn't pay off and he never won courage and as a publicity stunt (so they could get him off of there hands ) was handed out a pro gamming license. If he showed any real promise do you think estro would trade him to make way for another player? I mean its not like estro is a great host of talent anyway....
My value placed on winning national LAN events and qualifying for International LAN events might be inaccurate who knows ..... but I doubt it.
My original point was that you shouldn't need to defend greg, he is a big boy don't you think? Why can't he defend himself when he starts problems..... that is how this all started.
Anyway if you want to respond and your welcome to Pm me otherwise I don't think either of us need another temp ban =(.

You did in fact say cloud gets more international recognition.. so don't try and switch that as "I never said cloud is better." Nobody was saying anything about either of their skill so you asserting that is illogical.
Your assessment of IdrA has and continues to be completely biased and ill informed. You are asserting reasons for why he was given the progamer license or "traded" (he wasn't) and making them negative. Obviously you are in no position to be commenting on this as you don't know and what you think you know is completely skewed and ignorant. We get it: You don't like flaming. You don't think IdrA has reached that magical level where evidently you are awarded the right to be a jerk. These are all of course magical constructs you fabricated so using them as some kind of point in your argument is just plain silly, stop.
Your values are not inaccurate.. they are not gaugable.. that was my point. You trying to gauge them is what was wrong, not whether or not it was accurate.
I didn't need to defend greg, I did cause he is my friend and Cloud was wrong.
You aren't a mod. Having arguments are fine on this forum as long as they are within reason. Seeing as how neither of us have gone to caps or blatant flaming there is no need for you to back seat moderate and assume it's time to move the debate elsewhere.

I said he gets more respect not recognition.
Cloud is respected for being a nice and good member of the international community, things like TL attack help boister that, his posts in strategy threads.... respect goes alittle beyond skill in a game, I was never anywhere close to asserting he is more recognized or receives more recognition, he isn't all over the internet as the only american in korea playing starcraft how could he be as recognized....
Idra is known for his BM and since he isn't clever he doesn't receive respect internationaly for that....
Since you are never wrong I dictionary.com'ed the definations for respect and recognition to insure that couldn't be flipped on me and ... they are(edited aren't) different.
I was back seat modding because this thread has another purpose and I respect that, I don't need to show off my conversations for them to have meaning I am fine having them privately but that is personal taste. Who knows making a conversation private could be a sign of ..... maturity (or I am so outclassed and wrong that any hope of seeming anything but ridculous is impossible )
You are right he wasn't traded, another team took him. I asserted that if he showed promise the team that had already feed and housed him for months would keep their investment....
I asserted that he didn't win courage, he was given his pro gamming license, which is awesome , he went 50% in an inhosue tourny.... but then was promptly moved to another team, Why did estro do that when they only have a couple to give away a year..... you tell me since you know so clearly
I am not a mod that is correct, good call.
First place for usa Pays money/prizes & flights-hotel rooms plus qualification into an international tournament. Gauging Lan preformance and results is very applicable, its how the koreans do it ....

Is it just me or do all of the SC2GG commentators (Diggity, Vaul, etc.) not know how to have conversations while commentating? They're so used to giving the play-by-play that when commentating with someone else, they only give play-by-play, very rarely delving into conversation which is where the real analysis takes place. I don't need the play-by-play...I see it in front of my eyes. I listen 'cause I'd like to hear your thoughts. Maybe it's just lack of game knowledge, or maybe it's just commentator nerves. Either way, things need to change. Chill and Daniel Lee are awesome.

I liked diggity commenting and Fenix playing too. He plays PvZ, PvT, TvP right? Is that allowed on korean leagues?
Artosis! On Ventrilo pres the Setup button and uncheck "Play Key Clicks" ^^ You can also adjust the volume of others on the "Inbound" scroll. You could record some short testing videos with diggity just to make sure you get the volumes right. Because diggity was much loader than you.
But overall the vods are pretty good. Thanks for the hard work to everyone on scforall ^^

ok back from the eSTRO workshop. ill get this stuff a bit more organized and fix w/e problems been goin on tomorrow. thx much to ppl who took care of it all while i was away :D Big thanks to both Chill and Diggity who after being asked were making VODs with me within 10 minutes. real fun doing it with those guys they are awesome.
on a side note for the flames: Whoever said Legionnaire went to top 8 of a 512 man tournament to get pro liscence was correct. Assem was the only foriegner ever to win courage.
ClouD + IdrA are both really really amazing players even if they don't like each other.
The stage is set for iNcontroL again this year. Everyone is absolutely sure he doesn't have a chance (including himself) just as it was last year. Obvious repeat champion.

You need to start doing mic tests, make a quick video, encode and watch to make sure the levels are equal and everything is ok.
You can't keep trial and erroring during actual games, it's really amateurish
I mean correct me if I'm wrong but half the point of the vods with Daniel and these are to sorta build a portfolio of commentaries to get you hired to do actual commentary in korea right? I think it would go a long way to buy a decent microphone and actually test things out before casting
a near professional sounding USB microphone can be had for like $100 which is a small investment into something that can get you a job I'd think.
I'm just really confused by the arrangement at this point it's like Daniel Lee brought you to korea so you can sound like you're still in your bedroom with your dog barking behind you

On September 10 2008 03:01 {88}iNcontroL wrote: Estro was a bunch of racist assholes who ignored greg.. his "pro training" was ICCUP..
It is indeed very hard to get accepted if you want to go through it the korean way. I think it's plain wrong to do so. You're not going to another country to get brainwashed, no matter what you're going to do over there.
We never had this issue as we used to hang out amongst foreigners.
I however experienced (may I say much deeper because of the "field" i was in later on) 100% Korean immersion - and it never went that bad.
I think that comes from four different things :
A nice chunk of Korean semi / pros you gonna end up meeting will be awkward persons, if not social retards that are school drop outs. Therefore these social rejects will tend to easily abuse any bit of authority / power they get over another (talkin bout morons here obviously). Within the training house they're gods, outside, junk.
Secondly, Idra isn't exactly the tall good looking cool kid (when you're much bigger than them, have a fucking loud voice and make them look like schoolgirls when it comes to drinking, they bow in your presence >.>, sad, but true.)
If he wasn't considered as a very good player either, then, his "fellow team mates" prolly used to daily trash talk him in Korean (they love to do that).
Last but not least, Koreans hold something big time against people from U.S.A. Often I met racist douches that went up to me saying "You're from Europe, that's fine, but we don't like Yankees". And I can guarantee you that a good part of Koreans that never went abroad retardly think the same.
Makes me real sad to hear that, but flying from your country straight into the Estro house isn't the most genius plan imo. If I have any piece of advice to give him, is to be smart enough to actually make difference between what's actually tolerable and cultural thing you gotta take, and plain bullshit.
Like sharing clothes and them taking some of your stuff = total utter bs. One of them does that ? Go right at him and explain him what the fuck's up.
One of the most basic cultural male traits in Korea is beeing a stupid macho. One must be firm enough to not let himself koreanized right away and turn into some kind of pathetic slave, and at the same time, be cool enough to culturaly share what is sharable.
Last thing, I saw a video where they made Idra clean the fucking floor. I can fucking guarantee you, none of either me or elky or grrrr would've ever done that.
Would've rather been the manager's job...
EDIT : I hope it goes better @CJ. However, at the same time, if the players over there think he is out of place and doesnt belong to pro gaming, it won't ever work out. Especially nowadays. Also you won't be able to make them believe the arguement hes here for extra advertisement, hes not like gonna go TV talent or shooted in Korean TV commercials, even if hed win 3 starleagues..
|

It's not a joke. After the novelty wore off, the rest of the estro team basically refused to play with idra outside of the mandatory team ranking tournaments. after a new coach axed those, his practice time was 100% iccup. they saw losing to him as an embarassment, and believe me, they did lose to him. the entire team basically ignored him because he was the white guy, they wanted nothing to do with him. except for a few who were friendly, but still generally refused to play him.
the coaches did absolutely nothing about it, despite idra addressing the situation multiple times. moving to CJ has a massive effect on idra, because as soon he was sent there, shit got real. he's playing 50 games a day against CJ B team players who are overall better than a lot of estro's A team.
this is the difference between CJ and a team that finished below the air force in last season's proleague. shit is run properly.

I think if you hold a tourney where you invite someone to a different country it isn't the winners job to be a certain kind of person in order to do well. It is the job of the established, comfortable and domestic company to make it a welcoming experience for the person that is in a foreign country playing against superior players... so yeah, it was eSTRO's fault. Not greg's for being the person that he is.

They hosted a tournament (albeit at the request of the company that owns them, I think) to bring the winner in. The responsibility to make that winner feel welcome and wanted was on eSTRO.

Most of the koreans in high skilled teams on west are racist so this does not surprise me. It is sad that this carries into pro teams as well but it doese not shock me one bit. It's a shame Idra is somewhat a walkover it seems and never stood up for himself at all. I think he should adress this in the video because eSTRO seems to of benefited from him being there and they deserve some SERIOUS bad publicity for this and I really hope he adresses this racisim because I believe its one reason why foriegners have trouble reaching high levels like the koreans

Sea and Savior were super friendly. Maybe Stork and Kal were racists. At least that's how I'm going to tell the story!
|
How is the next foreigner that goes to eStro going to deal with this? I mean, does someone like Nony or Cloud even want to go to a team like this and be ignored and forced to play on iccup instead?
I mean, are they really welcome or not? How can they invite a foreigner and then not allow them to play?
|
so you need to be a really charming person to be succesfull foreigner in Korea... a really common trait among computer nerds

I mean, are they really welcome or not? How can they invite a foreigner and then not allow them to play? If by any chance I get picked I don't mind whoever I play as long as I have the chance to participate in Courage, get a pro license and get into any serious korean tournament. I also wouldn't mind being ignored at first. You can just become much better playing other pros on iccup until they beg you to play them. And btw I seriously doubt their actitude towards Idra wasn't also due to the fact that guy might have some serious problems in social relations irl.

You suggest that idra should have just played iccup and improved slowly instead of complaining and getting to play with better players?
|
Improving in bw doesn't necessary mean playing exceptional opponents all day. You can also improve by thinking, having a rest, being more confident by the time goes and playing even people worse than you. This is called talent and it also goes along your relationals skills since you won't get anywhere if you suck at being nice with people, adapting at what they like, making they accept you and getting games. You can find an amazingly good amount of progamers on iCCup and at the highest level it's probably a much better training than the one given at most of the b teams houses.
|
If I was Idra I would make up a ton of usernames on the UDP connection and just confuse the other koreans and then get games that way.
|
That's true but if you play better people you're definitely going to get more out of it regardless of talent. Idra was not just a regular player who joined the team. He can open up more relations for korea and he won a tournament before going there, he deserves special treatment and CJ is giving it by trying to get him to improve ASAP.

This stems from the TSLD listing castro as bolivian... I tried to fix that mistake and accidentally changed all of the peruvian flags to bolivian.
If someone with the power to change castro's country reads this post, please fix the mistake.

...I just watched the Cloud vs Deska games.. Why is Deska in this? He didn't execute a decent build order in either game. Hell he should have just 4 pooled both games, atleast he could have had a chance of competing if Cloud scouted him last.. >.<;

Not greg's for being the person that he is. I totally agree here. I'm just now getting to reading this thread, I had no idea this was going on. But I guess all of it follows up to TT1's post on gosugamers. He discussing how shady the koreans have always been to the foreigners and why are they changing their minds now? It goes into much more detail, but this shows it right here.

They say the prize is "become a progamer" and I guess that is what ClouD described: go to Korea, be given most of your day to practice, and participate in Courage. I 100% believe that I, and other foreigners, could pass Courage by only playing on iCCup. But I really doubt that we'd only be playing on iCCup. And winning Courage isn't the only opportunity -- doing well in inner-team competitions and making contacts are also good ways to forge a path. It's a great opportunity and I would definitely go.
But I have to say that if I were any worse at BW, I'd definitely be nervous about going. The Spirit Tournament is just a stepping stone and participants need to be ready for the next step. Winning Spirit isn't "making it" as a progamer. That's why we always have to wait a good 6 months every time a foreigner goes to Korea in order to see if they're going to make it to the next step. I'll make it! Pick me!
|
How often do you integrate foreign students at your school etc into your activities? Being in Idra's position is lonely as hell. Once the novelty fades I would probably just want to go home and be with my friends instead of people who don't speak my language and can't be bothered to constantly put in the effort required to keep me involved in things.
Add on top of that Idra isn't exactly a social butterfly from the interviews we've seen. Even his roommates at college who were interviewed about him leaving knew absolutely nothing about him, and these people spoke his language.
I can understand if he was some star player being brought in that can do something for the team, but that's not the reality. He has to work hard just to become competitive with the team, and he's not going to lead Estro on all-kills. The entire concept of bringing foreigners to korea to play is a huge gimmick in itself, and it probably grows old for both parties before long.
Even the outside interest and buzz can't really be there because Idra is so detached from absolutely everything. In every interview you have to coax words out of him, how is he supposed to gain fans?
It's like all the anime obsessed people who think they will move to Japan and their white skin will be such a novelty that the Japanese won't be able to get enough of them and they'll somehow gain acceptance in a completely foreign environment when they couldn't do it on their home soil?
Calling an entire team racists when the social integration falls short by both parties is extremely ignorant. I don't think there's really blame to be put on anyone, it's just a really awkward situation.

GL to all the winners so far in the next round.

He must have been unbelievably nervous, because just about nothing he did made sense.
|
Well what Deska did in the Blue Storm game was basically something like this. Make as many lings as you can so you are safe from probe scouting and zealots and then expand hoping the opponent won't see you having 6 soon enough. The ling amount and timing was off so he couldn't get a proper macro in the mid game when he needed it. Second game it just seemed he was blown away by the emotion. But well I don't blame him, the first times in the spotlight are always like this I guess.
|
NonY has the most skill/potential in that entire group. EZ pick !
|
I loved how anti muta cloud went. Like, plus one corsairs extremely early and a ton of stargates. Who does that!? That was awesome.
I am almost certain that Deska would be a tremendous force once he gets over his nerves, give him a year or so. He's just a kid anyways. He had a good idea of over over over expanding, and had some good saturation at some points, but just some major flaws lead to its crumble. maybe he didn't work on that strat too much. Or just forgot he had 20 expansions.
Also, check out Sea Shield versus PJ. I miss PJ, he was one of first foreigner SC players that I knew of. And also knew he had a very special skill.

The description of Idra's situation in eSTRO sounds terrible, It makes me happy for Idra (no matter who was at fault) that he was able to get around it. Now for the tournament, time to watch all these games. Backing Nony myself.

Machine can beat cloud, Bluestorm and Andro are great maps for ZvP and othello is not at all bad. Machine just has to Time himself perfectly, because cloud is strategically solid.

At the level these guys play, guarantees like that don't really apply. It is possible for a series to be very one-sided, but in general, skill levels are so close that anyone is capable of taking games from anyone given the right circumstances.

I would love to watch these games, too. But I tried it yesterday, it's just impossible, buffering every 3 seconds...

God damn. At the level these guys play, guarantees like that don't really apply. It is possible for a series to be very one-sided, but in general, skill levels are so close that anyone is capable of taking games from anyone given the right circumstances. Yes, it is within the realm of possibility for pepe to take a game from Flash for example. It is physically POSSIBLE, that does not mean it WILL happen. The skill game between cloud/machine/nony obviously is not that grand, but the point is made. The difference in skill between pro gamers is not within a hair length or something, otherwise there would be NO consistent results. Rather, the skill gaps are large enough for it to be COMPETITIVE but still have one, two, five or so dominant players. Who, given the realm of PLAUSIBILITY, will emerge victorious.

Wow.. what a post lol

I think it'll be a close game, and as as player NonY is probably better, but in the finals of a tourney like this you can't really tell who will win. I mean I'm pretty sure most of us didn't expect Iefnaij to win over Draco, but that happened.
|
Dinot Really times his bad games, so daniel Lee saw them and missed his good ones. that's too bad, I think he has what it takes. Though Nony is the better player.

SCForAll has the Machine vs Cloud games up and they are working for me right now.

So it doesn't matter that much since if they are serious about bringing a foreigner to Korea they will look at all the games

Dinot should go to Korea. He's aggressive as hell. :-O

...so you're saying a Nony/Cloud matchup would be like a Flash/pepe matchup? Of course there are skill gaps. It's not like during TSL the guy who placed 120th was close to Mondragon in skill.
But if you're going to compare Cloud/Nony to Flash, then it seems like it'd be more accurate to say Flash/Best.

YES, MACHINE VS CLOUD is up.
|
Wow, really impressive style from cloud versus machine @ g2, it looks like he knew exactly machine's timings and had a build to counter that way into the lategame. Cloud was playing a really impressive game, but he could have harassed a little bit more with reaver/sair in the mid-late game and made a few more gateways. Machine I think was thrown off so much by the sairs + reavers he did not make enough lings to counter the dragoon heavy army. Kind of a mind game! Props to both players, of course.

I'm really excited for the finals...I'm hoping for a NonY victory, but we'll see.
|
Well, NonY would indeed seem like the favourite, especially after impressively beating DinOt 2-0. NonY has great map-control, and especially against weaker opponents you see how effective his play is, where his strikes are always incisive, and he never seems to struggle. In the battles, he organizes himself very well, and seems very aware of how to hurt his opponent. His micro is quite good, he hasn't got amazingly quick reflexes, but microes quite smartly. While he has decent macro and multi-tasking, he sometimes seems to overlook strategic choices that his opponent might make and will end up a step behind. This only becomes clear when he faces stronger opponents, who don't let him control the game with his excellent map control, and take initiative themselves.
ClouD sometimes makes some terrible moves, where you find yourself grinding your teeth at how he could overlook perfect opportunities to hurt his opponent or sacrifice a largo group of units for no reason. In that sense, he seems like a bit of an anti-Mondragon, his game is quite unpolished, he hasn't get the best decision-making and he timing isn't great. Overall, his micro is pretty good and his macro is perhaps slightly better than that of NonY. He's likely to lose an equal fight against NonY, but he is a very special player, and one this he has going for him is that sometimes he makes some awesome macro moves that really throw his opponent off guards. He has pretty good multi-talking, but just seems like a clever player, who knows well how to estimate how to confuse or weaken him opponent by simultanous attacks and combines this well with his management of expansions. And this is where he could best beat NonY; weaken him with some lovely macro moves and build an advantage.
I'm personally in favour of ClouD because I always favour Russia, Italy and Germany in any kind of competition. I'm not sure which player is most interesting, because whereas NonY seems to have a very well-controlled and effective play, ClouD's play sometimes falls outside the box, which is quite inspiring. Both would be interesting to see in Korea. I think NonY would have a good chance of competing right away as no aspects of his game is really lacking, but possibly never move to a higher level, whereas ClouD might completely fall through if he doesn't manage to improve his micro and multitasking, or end up an Italian powerhouse in Korean if he does.

liek pmg when is finals????
|
weird that castro lost :o well gl
|
I think that no matter who wins finals, that they will most likely take Nony,DinOt, and maybe Handy? to Korea, and cloud if he wins finals.
|
yeah even if nony somehow loses, he will be taken. So long as he doesn't completely wig out because of the pressure. Even then, I think he'd get a spot.
|

Machine definitely has the willpower and determination. I think those factors are as or almost as important as the skill itself.

I find this kind of funny. The only two foreigners I really know of are in the finals... Nony and cloud.
|
To be honest, I really would like to go but if i was in tylers shoes and had beaten everyone and then not gotten to go I would be fairly angry. He did his job and after talking to him he 100% prepaired more for this tournament that anyone else no question. He deserves the spot and did everything nessisary to be picked, if a little factor like age keeps him from korea it will be dissapointing, I tried my best and failed. Cloud and Nony are better players than me 100% and I dont deserve to go based on just age imo, but if their is another tournament such as this you can bet that I once again will try my best to prove myself and have a shot at going to korea.

Artosis, can we get a rough timeline of when the finals will be aired? And what will happen afterwards? I'm dyin' over here!
Give us something
|
|
I think it should be NonY, Dynot, and someone else that I wont name I might be banned ^_^
|
KrAzYfoOL, you might be right. I'm certainly no expert, and although I've watched quite a few of their matches, it might only really show their form in that period of time. I'm soon finished watching the replay-pack of NonY in the TSL ladder, while I have watched fewer games of ClouD, perhaps half of them being a while ago, as he was more well-known when I entered the scene.
I think it's hard to get a general iimpression, though. Thought NonY might be "sharper" in that he's very aware of everything while playing, ClouD's play just seems more effective or experienced. I'm just throwing these things out there in hope to stir a little response, though. There's way too little discussion about the specifics on the players going on within these forums. The discussion of the Korean progamers has a little more life to it.

Wow, those were some close games. Kind of sad that its all over though, found myself checking scforall numerous times a day for new vods, and automatically shouting "ohh yea!" kool aid style when they were posted (even though I shouted @#$%^&*@%#$ many times due to their sparatically narcoleptic video server). Congrats to the winner, and the loser for that matter. I was kind of bummed the finals were PvP at first, but the skill level was so even (although strategically different) that I found myself in suspense most of the time (heck one game had less than a minute in the replay bar and I was still completely unsure who would take it).
Anyway, gg's, good times, and I hope the community can have another one of these top foreigner, top prized, broadcasted/commentated events in the near future (TSL2 before SC2 hits the shelves perhaps?) :p But yea, a super thanks to Art and Dan for commentating (good chemistry, tons of hilarious exchanges, all while keeping a good insight on the games being played) and any others involved.

I doubt they will only pick one. I bet nony, cloud, and maybe one other young player- like Dinot- will be picked. Hopefully no one goes to Estro, or if they do, make it the fuck out of there in time.

He mentioned he was sick in the week before the boxer games so maybe that was a factor in why he wasn't as energetic or interesting as last season. However, he commentated great during the ACE matches this week. I really enjoyed both tasteless and Susies commentating. Susie has gotten a lot better since the first couple weeks. Compare him lately to the tasteless we saw commentating with Manifesto in iris vs savior in longinus... he was so into it etc.. Nice finals, I really enjoyed watching them (I enjoyed all spirit games that didn't lag, actually ). The guy I thought would win won, but it was much closer series than I expected. These guys seem to be pretty even (at least when it comes to PvP), so it would be great to see both of them in Korea.
Good luck!

Since it has already been bumped, I think this is worth a mention: CaStrO vs DinOt was repeated this week in ISL3's 5th qualifier, 4 years later. Predator and DeSka were also in this qualifier. ZpuX, Yayba, and HanDy have been in ISL1 and ISL2. BW never dies, nor does the dream of being professional.
