thanks for the input Bill ! I'll definitely be doing everything I can to try and get as many people as possible to come. just trying to confirm a location and entrance fee and everything will be much easier after that.
I'm hoping for approximately 30-35 people to attend, and with a price of about $25. In my opinion, anything significantly more than that (price-wise) will turn people off (because who wants to shell out ~$40 for a tournament you know you have 0% chance of winning??? nobody.) so I think $25 is a pretty decent and reasonable range.

keep signing up people, and we're still working on getting a definite location, and I'm working on sponsors.
keep in mind there will be MINIMUM 500-600 prize pool, as well as some other stuff, which I will not announce yet!

I'll be in the Montreal area around then but I probably won't be able to come, which pisses me off

Hmm is there a confirmed date yet? I'm coming home (Toronto) late August, and I could possibly roll that into the first week of September if the date was official. If I do go, I can give people from Whitby and eastward a ride. If you can get to Whitby via car / bus / GO, I'd pick you up at the station and give you a ride.
I hope some details start getting filled in soon.

I would attend if I could get some information as far as where it will be hosted.
Edit: I'm from Manitoba

The date is official: August 30-31 . It is not 100% decided yet about if it will be a 1 or 2 day event.
TT1 is really slacking so far on getting a LAN center confirmed. Perhaps anyone else around the area can help me out so we can move this along.
Anyways, all things said... it WILL be August 30th for sure, possibly extending to the 31st if we can.
You can count on that.

Oh sick, I'm 100% unless it goes too late into the 31st. It's a 6 hour drive and I'd have to be home that Sunday to make a flight. Maybe a better plan would be to train into Montreal and then fly from there...

I doubt it will last long on the 31st if it goes into a 2 day event. The big day will be Saturday (probably an all-day affair) , and then if we go into sunday it will extend only into early afternoon just to finish it up most likely.
I am also working on a deal to get some hardware to give out as prizes / giveaways for the LAN. More details will come once the actual location is finalized.
Just spoke with TT1, he said he's found 2 places, and is just checking out a few more then we'll make a decision.

Is TT1 as batshit insane in person as I imagine?
|
uh I don't know, haven't met him. I'm pretty sure he's cool IRL just like almost every BW player is. I haven't met one faggoty person IRL from BW yet.

I'll try my best to make it.

TT1 said it will be 2 days, he said he'll update us with the location by tomorrow. I don't really think we need to rent out the entire place, we just need about 8 pcs to run the tourney. IIRC we only had 4 pcs for SC at WCG last year and we finished the whole tourney in 2 days?
|
we had 6 or 8 for WCG last year. ya, all we need is 8 , but really if we can get ~20 that would speed things up quite a bit
