Seeing Bisu's picture made me think I was looking in the mirror in game two. I wonder if that drone drill trick will change ZvP on Troy, it is just so powerful versus protoss quick tech. Even if it isn't used, the threat of it might influence toss's behavior versus players with strong micro.

July played like a champ, and Best played like he was still in the round of 16. July's preparation was perfect and spot on, and he knew what he needed to do to win. The andromeda game was amazing. Sure there were fuckups along the way, but there are things like that which are forgivable in a final. July strategy that game is perhaps the first new ZvP thing i've seen in years. I've seen a shitload of Sair/Reaver ZvP but i've never seen scourge/hydra -> guardian/hydra/ling to counter it. It was brilliant, and will be the birth of a new anti-sair/reaver im sure. Hahah UGH why does everyone see something that isnt really that uncommon in a big match and think suddenly its gonna reform how a race plays vs a certain style. Guardians vs reavers has ALWAYS been a tool for brainy Zergs. Straight up, ive seen that shit as long as ive been playing which is getting dangerously close to 10 years. It works well when they transition out of corsair/reaver to ground unit mix. Not to overreact but there are simply reasons why it wont work a lot of the time and to anyone in this thread who thinks +1 armor scourge is new: Savior had been doing this back at the start of his reign, it is nothing new. Many Zergs start powering up air armor for the late game switch to muta/scourge to stop those annoying near invincible corner mass reaver drops. Everything July did was textbook and shows why he is amazing ZvP. Nothing was questionable, everything he did was straight up and close timing moves ended in his favor barely. If you don't understand how Best reacted perfectly in Game 1 then still lost because he got caught by July who knew exactly what was coming then you are lost. And really game 3 made up for the "quickness" of this series.. I know everyone likes EPICCCCC series that go to the 5th match but it simply cant happen all the time. And really how could this be anymore upsetting of a series than July vs OOv or July vs Reach. At least in this one the player who people wanted to win won.

Everyone knows that without a forge, a warping cannon becomes disabled! And the ling/hydra play in g3 -- July was totally not trying to fake an attack into BeSt's nat and forcing him to bring his corsairs and reavers back. First of all, that's not what I'm talking about. When July first pops hydras, he makes a failed attack and you can hear the hydras dying outside Best's base. Best should've been popping overlords at that point. The thing you're talking about is absolute bullshit. He didn't drop 20 hydras as a fake, it was a failed attack that would've been obliterated before the drop started by someone playing at a higher level, whose corsairs would kill things instead of dick around above Nexii chatting about their cool space ship decals. And look at Best's failed shuttle/reaver micro, missing the pick up. You can't call it the answer to sair/reaver when the sair/reaver play is that bad. July's PvZ is unstoppable See, that's the thing. What Jaedong did to Much was on a higher level than this. If this was Luxury getting his first trophy, you'd all be talking about how other Ps would've fared instead of immediately crowning him the king of Starcraft.EDIT: To put it another way, July's power level was only 4,500. Best's power level was waaaaaaay below 3,000.

Best's power level was waaaaaaay below 3,000. Please stop spreading bullshit. Jaedong used a totally different style and Much simply had no solution to straight up mutalisks. You cannot even compare the two series sorry. That is simply lubricious. This series came down to being well prepared, mental strength and execution. July did all of these things. Stop trying to debunk a Legend's glory. And power levels? ROFL, please. I hate it when people talk about stuff they don't know, but I must say it is funny at the same time.

That is simply lubricious. I'm not sure what lubricious is, but it sounds sexy. And I'm not saying "Best lost it," I think July definitely won it. I think neither of them were as good as they could be.

July might play low economy a lot, but that doesn't make him a Sauron Zerg. If anything he is a Neo-Sauron Zerg. I'm not sure what lubricious is, but it sounds sexy. You knew what I meant. Sometimes I type to fast and have to re-check for spelling, grammar, etc. Funny thing though, 'lubricious' is in fact a word and it does pertain to sex. *** On July 14 2008 02:11 tomatriedes wrote: I can't believe people are complaining about 'cheese'. These neo-protoss players FE to macro play all the time. It's about time that the zerg players did something to upset their cosy little BOs. Agreed, it's about time. Hopefully now Protoss players will second guess the FE, so we get to see some change. If not, I hope players like July make them pay for it.

First game he just made an insane stupid gamble. Second game he didn't FE. Third game he lost a long game after a won early game.
