Amazing that after all this time he can provide us with such an impressive display. The question that lingers in my mind is why hasn't he been preforming at this level consistently? It's almost like he lost the desire to win but his OSL streak rekindled an old flame and today we saw a master bursting back into life. Whether or not the desire to win continues we will have to see, but no-one today can be left in any doubt that July is one hell of a player. Certainly the most prolific and maybe even the greatest Zerg ever. I really enjoyed watching that masterclass, the final lived up to my expectations, even though it was only 3 games.

JulyZergs' calm and excellent traditional ZvP play won him the OSL title. As Plexa stated in his newspost this clash between "old"and "new" really occured in the games. The bisu build can just go and die. Maybe it is just me but when you see July play ZvP lategame you feel he has control of the flow, even if he isn't as perfect as Jaedong is with his unitcontrol and mechanics. He does the perfect strategic moves e.g. guardian tech combo, ultralisktech etc etc. July utilizes Zerg to the limit with hords of armies being spawned instantly over and over against the strong and compact protoss army. (The only thing that confused me was the late defiler?!). The new generation Zergs (read Jaedong, Luxury, 815 etc) seem to be scared of reaver/Sair. July on the other hand displays calm Zergplay expanding and macroing. To make it simply JulyZerg knows exactly how to counter the protoss in this situation. This experience that July possess in ZvP is a result of the many years he has been around playing various styles of Protoss. So in conclusion I would like to take a statement sAviOr said a long time ago in consideration. sAviOr said in a interview (don't have the link anymore): My study of Zerg is complete. sAviOr thought his study of Zerg was complete just to realize that it has more secrets. JulyZergs ZvP after game 3 made me think that his study of war against Protoss is complete. StarCraft is never going to be completely analyzed but JulyZerg showed us tonight that his ZvP is and always going to be one step ahead of the Protoss. July IS the strategy and gamesense, and he shows that StarCraft Broodwar is the game when you use your brain more than your hands.

There are only three players left, who won the OSL twice: Boxer, Garimto and iloveoov, and since two of them are retired now there is the only one who can do it - SLAYERS_BOXER !!!

He got beat in every way possible. -rush beat him -late game beat him -micro beat him -macro beat him -nerves beat him -strategy beat him -mental toughness(or lack thereof) beat him July slaughtered him in every way possible, it was a massacre. Could Best TRAIN and IMPROVE and win the next time they meet? Sure. But to say that either 1. Best is better than July right now or 2. Best deserved it more Proves you do not know the difference between potential and current reality. Just as Best COULD win more in the future he could fall of the face of the gaming world, or July could go on a second streak of unheralded domination. And if you said July can't macro, or that his style is rush heavy because he can't macro, whos to say that his opponents aren't bad at micro, or that they favor macro because they lose so many units that they have to? Whether you are better at micro or macro doesn't matter. What matters is who is better in a series of starcraft matches. Its a level playing field. Scout and prepare for rushes, it isn't illegal. I remember specifically a game savior had where he didn't scout and a protoss player put a tower behind the minerals at sav's nat. Game over. A rush isn't an instant win, its a huge RISK that will pay off if you're opponent isn't prepared or if you are just so much better than them that you micro it into a victory anyway. Think about this - maybe if July ONLY focused on macro (ignoring rushes and preparing to counter them) than his macro would always be on the level of Best. O wait, that happened in game 3, so its already come true. Honestly, Im just amazed at the amount of stupid things being thrown around in this thread, like trying to win an argument by using a dictionary, lol. First point concerning dictionaries: perhaps you should use one, as "you're" (lol) English blows. Jumping off the flaming boat, I'd advise you doing research while arguing. Throwing stuff like "one protoss player once put a tower [CANNON PLEASE?] behind his minerals...blahblah" does you no good. Just go and search for it, should you be unable to recall the greatness of Nal_rA's cheese. Also, that wasn't lack of scouting but clever usage of blind-spots in the fog of war, exploiting overlord routing, but that's just a minor thing. It also had a huge impact about how Zerg players checked their base at the start of the game on that specific map (Peaks of Baekdu) from then on. (It also inspired me to copy and win a few quick games of Peaks PvZ, but that's irrelevant ![]() Anyway, if you're about to argue, please write something of quality, not an incoherent post that just screams for tl;dr. Ending offtopic, hats off to July. I really didn't think he would win despite that even the maps favored him and his recent resurgence (he didn't look that stable to me in neither of his games) but a thing like this is heart-warming...even if back then I kept wiping tears for my fallen protoss progamer brethren slaughtered by the hands of him.
