I'm assuming having some sort of sign up sheet and buy in like the NYC LAN is doing would be good to help fund the venue. I think if I could get a solid 16+ players with a $5/$10 buy in, then I think I could get a $300-$500 prize pool. If I could get 32 players, then maybe more. The buy-in is just to cover the costs of taking up a PC at the cafe for a couple of hours. Typically our tournaments there have allowed players to play for most of their time there and ideally we'd have a setup so everyone gets enough opportunities to play without simply going 0-2 and being done for the day. On top of that, the pc cafe has always provided free food to the players - pizza, tacos, sandwiches, they just pick something the day of. In addition, Lotte has also provided us with a ton of snacks/drinks for the players. Wow, that's really awesome! I don't think we ever got that kind of treatment in NYC
Hey, maybe we can change that in the future

If someone wants to take hold of official tournament organizing, I can put together some grassroot efforts to build hype, funds, and awareness of the tournament (i.e. hosting NA events/fundraisers leading up to the tournament to donate to the prize pool, etc.). At the end of the day, whoever is the official organizer will command the ship on it. I'd be down if it's just a small, fun event, but would also be down to build up to something larger. I have some ideas circulating in my head and I'm sure I can get some of the Blizzard team to join up for funsies, though not sure if we can justify an actual contribution from them.
Feel free to shoot me a message.

In case you didn't see, we are planning an NYC LAN right now (I think it may have been the inspiration for this thread, haha). I imagine it's kinda late into the game to sort things out for this one, but I will definitely contact you when we inevitably begin planning a second installment <3

who? there is only GHOSTCLAW.

Depending when this is, I could probably come too. Keep the LANs going.

LA definitely would invite a scene I would be more interested in meeting than NY. I'd give the trip serious consideration.
Houston/Dallas LAN provided by Hawk and I coming 2020!

Is there anyone that would be interested in casting onsite?
|
Is Models going to the L.A lan too?

Let me know.

I'll wait to see if there's any interest with casters but if worst comes to worst, I'm sure we can designate a few player-casters to rotate around when not playing. I have some casting experience myself and would be happy to hop in here and there when I'm not playing, though ideally it would be best to have a couple heading the job.
Once we ink in a date and get things set, I can start promoting and hosting events to raise funds towards the LAN.

I've literally never casted but would totally be up for it.
