I just watched this series. So thrilling, so exciting, it captured the essence of broodwar for me. Amazing plays on both sides all throughout the games. In the end the better player of day won and it just felt right somehow. I love Rain and his skillset seems currently to be unsurmountable by any other protoss but this scumbaggery of his for 3 of the games, it just deserved to be punished. The icing for Last was the proxt factory - "Here, take some of this crap you've been feeding me, does it feel good? I bet it does. Now die."

In fact I like Last as a player and he got some cool decisions in his pocket. But he is not the best yet. Not as Effort or Rain. And those lucky proxy factory at the end... I have to admit that Last deserved a 5th deciders match, he deserved one more chance. Not the most polished semifinal, but this was one of the most epic for sure, along with Effort-Mini. Starcraft e-sport scene deserves champions from the three races. And there aren't many tosses around. Rain should do it. C'mon, even for the sake of Busu and his fans. At least Rain and his brutal statistics in SC and SC2! I got to say that in those impossible mechanics only Flash is No1 and Bisu at some unit movements, but then it comes Rain, who deserves more than one ASL. Then he can happily retire!
Winning championships isn't about "deserving to win" it is about actually beating opponents and it turns out that Rain isn't good enough to beat the other finalist. This is a competitive scene where skill matters the most and it doesn't matter if somebody deserved to win if that player doesn't have the skills to do it.
Viewing experience is all about enjoyment. I would still vote a pvt finals over pvp finals. Unless pvp is actually more fun as a spectator but it isn't
I understand the frustration but there is still a chance for a "toss champion" with mini on the finals.
I know, mate. Rain lost and I fully accept that. It's no luck, it is a part of the game and congrats to Last, as I said, he deserved match 5! I was teased by predictions especially by the neutral spectators in the forum, because Rain showed better results recently, especially against Last. From this perspective I was a neutral viewer who enjoyed the other semifinal and I expected Effort (logic) to win, and I didn't give a damn how the match up in the final will be either ZvT or ZvP. Cheers!

These semi-finals have been absolutely fantastic! When Rain was up 2-1 I figured it was pretty much a done deal. He had some really good mind plays, army movement (especially on Sylphid) and played really well, but goodness how happy I am that Last was able to pull the win!
Not only because I was rooting for Last, but also because there'll be no PvP finals xD I'm cheering for Last to win, especially since I reckon his wrist problems gives him limited time left. However, I don't mind Mini winning either. I really feel like he's greatness in the making and it'd be cool if this was his time to shine and start to truly unleashing it.
I'm honestly happy either way, as far as the finals goes! At least if they keep up the level of play and entertainment as seen in these semi-finals.
Rains decision making definitely errs on the side of aggression. He can make major Bisu-esque blunders when it comes to attacking. Earlier this season someone mentioned Rains decision making isn't strong. I don't entirely agree but see where he was coming from more clearly.
Game 1 - proxy gateway Game 2 - proxy gateway x 2 Game 3 - proxy starport Game 4 - proxy barracks Game 5 - proxy factory
Commentary was great. Tasteless describing Rain's attacking in game 3 as a see-saw was a great metaphor. Artosis describing Game 3 as "one of those campaign missions where the objective is to survive for 30 minutes" and then noting that Last tapped out at 29:59 was hilarious.
YES YES YES!!! This is the quality of games i was hoping for from Last vs Rain! I knew it should have been of such quality but the map choice during ASL vs KSL champion ruined it!! This is definitely one of the best BO5 series for me.....
Congrats to Last. We were rooting for him just because we think Rain is a bit overrated (and we dont want a mirror finals). Rain can really be too much about macro sometimes. Build a ton of units, smash into opponent. Rinse and repeat.
And might as well say congrats to Mini as well -- he was a much bigger underdog there but managed to pull out a very convincing series win.
Looking forward to both the finals and 3rd place matches!

Huge props to Last for some exceptional play this series.
I'm saying as a Zerg player that the loss was on Soulkey, he scouted the damn rax right away!
Spoiler free way to watch every Starcraft tournament.
This is super nice. Blocking out the Youtube bar especially, I try not to look directly at it but once in a while it tells me we're not going to game 5 and I get sad
Hey, dear moderators.. perhaps this is the wrong thread for this post, but I couldn't see another one that's more suitable. I noticed that Effort and Rain will fight for the 3rd place tomorrow (10.03.2019) at 11:00AM CET. This match is missing on the 'Upcoming events' section of TL's main page. Cheers
