- Tastosis being "impure" or "bandwagoning or whatever else ridiculous i have read recently. 1) These guys have been around since the time when a majority of us didn't even finish the Campaign or know who ![]() 2) The Cast did Cater the Starcraft 2 Viewers: Yes! And rightfully so i might add. Can we put this into perspective? 8,5k viewers for an english SC:BW Cast is 8,2k more than other Casts achieve. Those viewers come from a background, where they have a very limited knowledge about professional BW and know a good deal more about SC2. It makes a lot of sense, to focus your Cast on them and explain the game from square 1. Me personally and some other veteran fans i have talked to didn't find they cast enlightening, but still very entertaining. And i didn't overhear any blatantly wrong statements, the Cast was still on point and also did point out some of the finer intricacies. 3) Exposure: multiple shoutout's to Teamliquid.net as the prime foreign Broodwar Community website and to ICCup.com as the server to play on. Even some guidance on the MCA Launcher. If that means nothing to you, i have to shake my head in disbelief. No SC:BW is not going to be the next big western Esport, Tastosis casting it won't change that. But in a world, where our premier foreign event has about 80 Users signed up from A to D rank (TLS Champs) and i log onto the server to see less than 300 users online, i have to wonder: do you actually want this game to die in silence, or do you want to see some new faces even if those don't share your background?? Well call me silly, but i prefer to see this game do well. 4) Our attitude is crucial. The kind of exposure today's and Saturday's stream give us, are a chance we can embrace or turn away. Tastosis gave the game the exposure to attract some new faces to this most glorious of all games, but it is our job to make them feel welcome and show them the beauty of this game, which is not entirely self explanatory. This is true for regular posters here and elsewhere, when you play games with beginners and take your time to guide them to helpful material or give them a tip or two. Again, im not delusional and i don't expect to see an influx of 500 new users just because of this one cast, but everybody counts. Show them, why we still love this 18 year old game. 5) Do you care for perhaps a full season of professional BW Casts like this? Then make damn well sure to show your support and quit this negative attitude. that's all i gotta say, feel free to agree or disagree folks, im ineterested in your replies :> € to clarify, i don't mean or intend to attack anyone specifically here in this thread. It's just a general obervation of mine and it really bothers me, i feel we are not steering this in the right direction.

Unfortunately never knew of the pro scene until Sc2. So really nostalgic, to watch these games. Tasteless and Artosis, really do seem more knowledgeable about BW than Sc2. Though wondering if that's just because there are so many more quirks that occur due to the engine. Where as Sc2 just runs, so smoothly. As a viewer who typically watches SC2, what i'm about to say will probably be taken as heresy. Though if they were to ever update BW, I think it would be more pleasant to watch if they could somehow smooth out the animations. Not saying they change anything about the AI or mechanics of how the units move, just adding more animations between the frames of whats already there. So the units simply Appear to move more fluidly. Maybe is impossible to do such a thing without affecting how the units behave, but it does feel like i'm watching at low FPS or something with how they were moving.

also a lot of Korean casters cast both Brood War AND SC2 so I'm not sure what's with all the drama.

My sister does watch Brood War and sometime show me legendary matches and kinda explain the thing through for me since I'm BW-retarded, but now with Tartosis casting the Bisu vs EffOrt finals, I'm really excited to see the English cast and having them explain stuff to me, also I think I will stay up to watch it live since Bisu is my favourite player <3 also a lot of Korean casters cast both Brood War AND SC2 so I'm not sure what's with all the drama. I've seen almost every major SC2 tournament since release. If anyone in chat mentions they came from SC2, I do my best to bridge the knowledge gap. Hopefully you can join in on my casts after tastosis returns to their day job and you can still learn ![]()

I gotta say, I didnt realize how badly I wanted to see a BW cast. Even though it was a ZvZ the games were still great and probably better than SC2 ZvZ to be honest (its the worst matchup in sc2). I used to watch Klazart's youtube channel and was pretty sad when he stopped casting. I really enjoy ZvZ. But if you're like most people, you're gonna find Saturday's games are a lot more fun to watch.

I look forward to the final. One thing Tasteless & Artosis brought was sudden exposure to what was going on. That doesn't hurt. (Plus it's a chance to watch some high qualify Starcraft, and that's always fun.)

Even if you've seen a decent chunk of BW after SC2 came out (and brought you back into the world of professional eSports), full on professional English casting has been rare since SC2's launch. (Though apparently this was being all cast in English with decent quality, if I'm reading some of the Drama around Tasteless & Artosis casting is correct?) I look forward to the final. You can check the past broadcasts via the small vod 2.0 thread if your ineterested.

Who would have thought in 2016, we'd be having live English broadcasters in Korea still casting both BW and SC2? I still remember 16 years ago my friend making fun of me for "still playing" StarCraft. I wonder what things will be like 18 years from now...
