What?
Silky Goose has decided to sponsor the scene with a €50 donation with the intention of bridging the gap between the oldschool and newschool players. Another donator added €10 to the pool, making the total €60. We're going to host a little King of the Hill event on Sunday, Aug 24 3:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00) which will last two and a half hours. At the end, the player with the most wins will play against the player sitting on the throne (in case they're different). Winner takes all.
How does it work?
There will be two lineups; the Oldschool players of which anyone playing in the Reunion Tournament is allowed, and the Newschool players which have participated in tournaments and had top finishes within the last year. Participants from both groups will play a Micro Tournament to decide the order in which they can play before the broadcast goes live, so players will be expected to be there half an hour early. If a newschool player is defeated, they're replaced with the next highest seed of the newschool players. Same goes for the oldschoolers.

What if the matches are too onesided?
If it turns out the skill gap is far too large, handicaps will start to be introduced. Creativity is encouraged.

You can donate to increase the prize pool directly. Please state clearly in the comments that you wish to donate for the Oldschool vs Newschool KOTH event.
Broadcast
The event will be broadcasted live by Sayle and Players from the tournament and last two hours, after which we will finish up the Reunion Tournament.

Sorry to say but 2 hours is not enough for a king of the hill event. If someone wins a game or two and wants to kill time to keep their record they can just camp and defend from a deficit and prolong the game for an hour... Second question, does Scan qualify for this?

The event is for the amateur/foreign scene. Given Scan's activity I wouldn't consider him an amateur.

I think newschool is the wrong term used in this context. I would rather use "still active players" vs "inactive retired players". So I'd guess Artanis would rate him into the former group. Would be dumb if not, tbh.

This map will be used for the Micro Tournament seeding round. Make sure to pick the 1-15 Lain option as some of the added levels later on are pretty dumb.

Who says it's a problem? I'm just quoting him, basically korean or half-korean sounds a bit like an insult. Personally I've always been for allowing Koreans in foreigner tours, I'm just not vocal about it, they're not my tours after all.

Banning scan for being good would be like banning idra because he was in Korea on CJ Entus.

I am playing 1v1 since 2008 so I think I am perfect example of a new school player, not to mention I broke into higher ranks after 2010(when sc2 was introduced). I would gladly join the list if there is room, this is going to be good and thanks artanis!
