Oh shit, look out for Jumper. Cheering all you NA guys on! On a side not, is there any way we could convince Teamliquid to make like 500-1000 TLS shirts for order...

Because the only people who are worthy of qualification spots don't play on East or Europe, and already play on Fish anyway.

That's your opinion, I think people worthy of qualifying shouldn't be too cheap to never have bought a copy of BW. Skillful players don't all mindlessly ladder away on Fish either, but again that's just my opinion.

You can play fish with no real BW CD.
Skillful players become skillful by playing against the best, and the best are on fish.

Also, it's important to note that you must host your games with #LL or #L2 in title to enable LAN Latency.
It might be helpful if you mention what people SHOULD do is use the Phyrigian guide link for wLauncher, but scroll all the way to the bottom of his OP to where he quotes Cadical as Cadical did some translating of the wLauncher and all you have to do is dl, extract, and run it. (Though to get the antihack you gotta do additional junk so you can type in korean...)
On February 02 2012 08:46 Cadical wrote: Anyone using wLauncher by any chance?
I made some translations on the launcher interface so it's easier to navigate. It's in a .7z file so you don't need to install it, but you may need 7zip to unzip it.
I removed few things like tab 1 and 2 contents because they are useless + Show Spoiler +
Made some translations on wJoiner plugin as well (if anyone's interested in that, it's basically an automated match making system) + Show Spoiler +
I also added few plugins such as CPU Saivor (better than CPU throttling) and Resolution Expander. I just renamed the .dll to .bwp and the launcher is able to inject it properly.
BTW, Resolution Expander is not compatible with wDetector, you will get a crash if you use them both at the same time. But it's nice to use it with other plugins (chaos plugin, lan latency, w-mode.. etc) when you are not laddering.
That sucks ? Btw then how could Doty play in TLS1 ? They just randomly enforce that now >
Iccup decided to tolerate it for TLS 1, in order to not disturb the tournament. However, sadly TL and ICC couldnt agree on terms for TLS 2 Qualifiers, so it was decided to use an other server. End of story so far.
I think the turn out will be REALLY bad with having to play on FISH. Please try to fix whatever happened between the TLS and ICCUP crew so that future events can be held on ICCUP (A ladder stage for the main event would be pretty awesome to!)

i'd rather have a tournament on a non-ideal server where we dont have to exclude players like Doty, than a tournament on iccup where we have to exclude him. it's pretty simple really.
Honestly getting on fish might seem intimidating to people, but honestly it's really easy. at the end of the day it's just another server. Everything works the same

mod edit: we understand the risks, but there's no reason to write guides on how to hack.

yea, its simple - we only have 50% of the registrations of the first two qualifiers. so we can make a tournament without one person who get banned for "some reason" or we can exclude 50% of the players who are willing to play, to do it on a "non-ideal server" where some people having latency problems or what ever.
latency is completely peer to peer. The latency between players is exactly the same on ANY server, because the server doesn't host the game, it just facilitates the connection. And if we cede to demands to ban players that iccup has problems with where does it end. What if you were rude to an iccup admin and got banned from iccup, would you be happy being excluded from TLS because of it?
i dont remember that i bm someone on bw, so i would be fine with penalty all players who are abusing or bming other people. last qualifier i tryed to report someone bming me half of the game but there is no rule to avoid this behaviour. but its not my decision. when tl decides to do the foreign torunament on fish we can only choose to play or not. it reminds me on the semih case. its painful to see the decreasing bw community have to deal with tl and iccup doing both there own thing. but its probably just my point of view.
edit: would tl change the server if another player like dsaqwe, mazur, lalush or pike had trouble with iccup?

Why don't you go like hey ICCUP. Unban dOTY it's in the best interest of both our parties. TLS provides more activity on ICCUP and TLS having more players is also beneficial.
what's up with bw players' sense of entitlement and willingness to always question authority? although iccup's rigid set of sometimes questionable rules could really use some update. banning the whole event in the middle of its second season qualifiers is quite confusing. why not force only games involving blacklisted players to be played on a different server? since that's essentially just doty (afaik) in this case, it could effortlessly be handled on a case-by-case basis.

we tried to do that but iccup refused
oh that's quite bizzare lol. I would've thought just having the banned player(s) play on another server but everyone else on iccup would've been ok, guess not ><

Good you are moving to fish, admins such as gecko are completly ridiculous. He's like a ban-nazi, overzealous in his efforts. Strange people, they take everything SO seriously and personally.
I got banned on all nicknames for using the word "fuck" ;-)
Soon icc will consist of gecko and soldier who will try to ban one another, because everyone else will have quit by then or get banned. _ However they forget, there is still Fish and sc2...
It's not even flaming, it's stating facts and opinions. They are over their heads with their rules. For this I would probably be banned again... idk if you see the point here and the absurd they follow with their rules. They are harming their server more then they are harming anyone else. It's a good server, the people are wrong.

honestly at this point fish is better you get games faster dont' need to wait 20 minutes for someone to join your game
? XD fish is pretty much the worst server to play on it starts with it's adware launchers which require you to follow some 5page tutorial how to change your desktop into korean shit just to get a really crappy antihack that only detects the already obvious hacks even if you cope with that it doesn't get any better once you're inside a game lobby if you have to dl one of the thousands fs / python versions expect to get banned instantly they write something korean and you answer in english = ban write nothing = ban write some generic shit like gg or w/e you have a slight chance to get a game but most of the time it follows by more korean bullshit writing let's say you somehow manage to get a game without hacks and end up winning, hf with your disc

yeah much better than iccup XD
host yourself then they can't ban you and if you made the game name english they already know you're foreigner..

They saw that as us bypassing their rules.
hmm I see that. Well, in the end their rules so either follow them or go for Fish.

Thank you Artanis and everyone else who was cheering for me - you know who you are!
I’d also like to thank the organizers: Teamliquid.net, Shimy, Game, Pucca, Eywa, L3gendary, casters: EleGant, Sayle, Hacklebeast, L_Master, and all the staff behind the scenes who have provided me leagues which made my Brood war hobby much more entertaining over the year.
Playing in ASL1 & 2, Gambit Cup, iCCup ClanLeagues, Nation Wars, TLS 1, C ranks Team League, have all contributed in my development and success in TLS 2 qualifiers.
Just when you thought you knew the ins and outs of the game, you discover loopholes. That’s what keeps me playing, but the great people you meet along the way is what makes this game very enjoyable for me.
