Ok... hold on... this stuff is complicated.

New MSL Format:

Round of 16 - 4 groups of 4, dual tournament-like double elimination tournament, top two advance.
Round of 8 - 2 groups of 4, dual tournament-like double elimination tournament, top two advance.
Semifinals - Single elimination tournament.
Finals - They mudwrestle.

Because Precision is why I live...

Week 1: Group selection
Week 2: Round of 16. Group A and B. First two games (best of 1)
Week 3: Round of 16. Group C and D. First two games (best of 1)
Week 4: Loser's match for all groups (best of 1)
Week 5: Winner's match for all groups (best of 1)
Week 6: Game 5 for all groups (Winner week 4 vs loser week 5) (best of 1)

Round of 8 begins
Week 7: First two games for each group.
[Round of 8 Group A]: A1 vs C2, D1 vs B2.
[Round of 8 Group B]: B1 vs D2, C1 vs A2
(all best of 1)

(The players who advanced first in their group of 16 will get to remove a map from the hat before drawing)

Week 8: Loser's match for each group (Best of 3)
Week 9: Winner's match for each group (Best of 3)
Week 10: Final match for each group (winner week 8 vs loser week 9) (Best of 3)

Semifinals

Week 11: A1 vs B2 (Best of 5)
Week 12: B1 vs A2 (Best of 5)
(The map used for both game 1 and 5 of each series will be drawn from a hat. The players who advanced first in their group of 8 will get to remove a map from that hat)

Week 13: Finals (They play rock siccors paper for the championship)

*There is no 3rd place match
*The top four players are seeded for the next MSL
*losing in the round of 16 may lead to dropping to the offline qualifiers for the next Survivor league
*losing in the round of 8 may lead to dropping to the Survivor league
*Seeds for next MSL: Savior, Chojja, iloveoov, Mumyung.

Easy enough right? Round of 16: dual tournaments, Round of 8: dual tournament, then a semifinals, then the finals.

Here's where it gets REAL complicated.

New Survivor league format:

Survivor league Round 1
There are 16 players who qualified through offline qualifiers. There are 8 players who come from the previous Survivor League. The 24 players are divided into 8 groups of 3. (Group A, Group B, C, D.... to Group H)

Each group plays a full league (A plays B, B plays C, C plays A)
Winner of each group -> moves on to MSL qualifiers
2nd place of each group -> moves on Survivor League Round 2:stage 1
3rd place of each group -> goes back to offline qualifiers.

MSL qualifiers
The 8 winners of Survivor League Round 1 face off one-on-one, best of 3. The 4 winners get to advance straight to the next MSL. The 4 losers go to Survivor League Round 2:stage 2.

Survivor League Round 2

Stage 1:
The 8 2nd place finishers of Survivor League Round 1 are grouped with the 8 players knocked out at the Round of 16 of the previous MSL. They are paired up and play a best of 3.
The 8 winners of that game advances to stage 2.
The 8 losers drops down to offline qualifiers.

Stage 2:
The 8 winners of Stage one are paired with either a) the 4 players eliminated from the Round of 8 of the previous MSL or b) the 4 players who lost in the MSL qualifiers after Survivor League Round 1.
They play a best of 3.
The 8 winners advances to the next MSL
The 8 losers stays in Survivor League Round 1.

... wtf? confused yet?

The roster for the next MSL has already been finalized.

From then on, it's as written. The first 8 to go drop to Survivor Round 2 Stage 1
The next 4 to go drop to Survivor Round 2 Stage 2.
The remaining 4 get seeds and advance to the next MSL.

About the drawing of maps, will they do that just before the game is about to be played or will it done like 1 week in advance?

i like having the new format of the round of 8, you get more variety of games to watch, more players playing each other, more chances for players to meet each other multiple times in the same MSL

and less luck of the draw for players who are significantly better in two matchups than the third (e.g. boxer, reach) to advance
I BELIEVE IN CAPITAL LETTER PUNISHMENT!!!!!

It's kinda hard, but you have to read it like a couple of times, to get into it.
Thanks a lot Honest Tea! :D

It's explained really well, but it's easy to forget a few of the 500000 stages.
I think they make it ultra convoluted, but very fair.

It's not too difficult to understand, I think it's more efficient than Survivor League which was always confusing. I liked the old MSL format though, allowed more bo3 bo5 face-offs.

It's a pretty easy system, save I don't understand the point of R1 Final... Is it just something for bragging rights?

edit:

And I take it the top four finishers of the current MSL get automatically seeded in the next MSL (whereas three for OSL)
