The NoisE Amateur StarLeague Season 2 qualifiers have begun! Thank you to everyone who has signed up and best of luck to you all! REVISED FORMAT! The qualifiers will take place over the course of four days. Divisions A,B, and C will play 5 games on September 1st @ 19 CET and the remaining 5 games on September 2nd @ 17 CET. Likewise, groups D, E, and F will play 5 games on September 8th @ 19 CET and their remaining 5 games on September 9th @ 17 CET. Each player will be required to make an account on Fish server with the title ASL2 in front of it (e.g. ASL2.Shimy, ASL2)Eywa(, ASL2-NoisE, ASL2[Quirinus], etc) and meet in op ASL2 on the Fish server.
How the Qualifiers will work:
There are 56 players with 2 invites. The 56 players will duke it out in the Up and Down format to get the top 24 spots and move on to the group stage. To begin with, each player will will be divided into a group of 9 (or 10) and will play the other person in their tier. Example:
Tier 1: (1)Red vs (2)Blue Tier 2: (3)Yellow vs (4)Brown Tier 3: (5)Purple vs (6)Pink Tier 4: (7)Grey vs (8)Black Teir 5: (9)Orange vs (10)Green
The player that wins their game moves up a tier and the player that loses moves down a tier. In this case, if red wins, he remains where he is at. Likewise, if Green loses, he also stays where he is at. This is repeated over 10 rounds(10 separate games per player) over the course of two days(5 games per day). The top 4 players from each division will move on to the group stage. If there are 9 people in a group, the bottom tier players sits Round 1 and then moves up when T4 loser moves down. The divisions were determined randomly and seeded randomly.
Each division will play FIVE rounds per play date.

If incorrect clan tag or lack of one, please message me @ TL.net (Username: Shimy) Each round will have a set map. The round is as follows:
These maps will be used throughout the entirety of the tournament. Please download this map pack. If players host and play on incorrect versions of these maps, they will be disqualified.
Some players race pick certain match ups. The race by their name is the race they will be playing against that opponent in Round 1. After this, it is possible their races will change due to the race of their next opponent. If there is a disagreement, the referee will have the race of each player and verify what he/she has signed up with and has to use.
1)All players are subject to administrative discretion.
2)All players are to sign up via email. No other source.
3)Bad manner directed towards fellow participants and/or ASL staff will result in a ban.
4)All games will be played on the Fish server in op ASL2.
5)All players must use minilauncer or chaoslauncher.
6)All replays of this stage must be sent to NoisEASL2@gmail.com. Failure to do this will mean DQ.
7)Players are required to make an ASL2 account in order to play their games e.g. ASL2.Shimy, ASL2-Shimy, ASL2)Shimy, etc
8) No Korean IP's will be allowed.
9) Players are required to send their IP address to league officials upon request.
10) Players are required to send replays of their games to league officials upon request.
11) If a player is experiencing an unplayable quantity of lag, they must leave the game before the two minute mark. Beyond this point, the player will be forced to play out the set.
12) Lag and IP conflicts will be handled on a case to case basis at the official's discretion.
13) If a player cannot play his match due to personal time issues, that player needs to contact ASL staff 72 hours beforehand and then their opponent 48 before their match to either PP the match or play early. Upon proof via screenshot of contact back and forth between player and opponent, the referee handling the case will then assign a date and time to be played, earlier or later than set time, at a time of mutual availability.
14) If a player does not show up within 15 minutes of the set game time, their opponent is given a W.O. victory. Technical issues do not apply and are done case by case by ASL officials.
15) If incorrect versions of the maps are used, the player will be DQ'd.

He also lost a ZvZ from a 70 supply lead...
He also got as close as you can possibly come to beating bakuryu, who has a 66% win rate vs the best of the best zerg players (except sziky).

Let me give you a scenario that could play out like this which could play out like this.
Players in order of skill:
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10
Group:
10 vs 4 9 vs 7 5 vs 3 8 vs 6 1 vs 2
player 5 pulls an upset on player 3,
now:
4 vs 7 10 vs 5 9 vs 6 3 vs 1 2 vs 8
^ As you can see, with this configuration, a player such as player 2 can end up being stuck at the bottom while player 4 is owning i up at the top, however, 5 games or so into the group, player 1 and 3 will have climbed to the top and player 4 will go on a losing streak, player 2 will be surrounded by 7/8/9/10 and will go on a winning streak...
So it's really not that imbalanced even if it does happen that a player surges up late in the tournament, that's basically what this format counts on to not have good players eliminated.

well, yea I figured that out lol, I just wanted to point out what I thought was a potentially humorous/sad/funny/etc. scenario that could occur.
Just like you could go 8-2, but you could still get knocked out because you were on an 8game win-streak, but lost the last two games. Oh god I hope that happens lol

This is why we have you cast and not do math . 10 games per day, 1 day per week 60/10 = 6 Weeks ;_;
But, that aside, we need to take into consideration that we're expecting at least 30 games in a day, 2 days per week

We're discussing format stuff as we speak. We hope to please everyone, but it's possible that some people will just be given walkovers due to them not being there. I'll make an official update by today.

If he were truly B/B- a lower end competitive team would have picked him up, he wouldn't be on wOk... I don't think they have any gosus on their roster.

If you clear stats at every loss, you generally don't have any losses. Look at his game list (It's still good, but not 100%).

Some players race pick certain match ups. The race by their name is the race they will be playing against that opponent in Round 1. After this, it is possible their races will change due to the race of their next opponent. If there is a disagreement, the referee will have the race of each player and verify what he/she has signed up with and has to use.

I've looked at all this stuff. People beat gosu's from time to time. This doesn't mean they are that level, it just means they can beat people. We've gone over this a lot in the past tournament.

Assuming we cast 10 games a day, and one day a week, it would take us 6 months to get through qualifiers.
This is why we have you cast and not do math . 10 games per day, 1 day per week 60/10 = 6 Weeks ;_;
But, that aside, we need to take into consideration that we're expecting at least 30 games in a day, 2 days per week
I don't know where you got the number 60, but there are 50 games in each group of 10 (10 players * 10 games each /2 players per game), and 40 games in each group of 9. that's a total of 260 games.

First you guys say the reason behind this league is to inspire people to play and get better then you ban the most active of us for something very small. Read the rules and see that the banning was indeed fair.
There is no proof as replays were analyzed as stated above.

Yeah, I understand. Given the format other solutions will be tough to find i guess, and the last weekends of summer (at least here) are generally full of various happenings. But you can't claim he's a smurf. Also, KDV was more banned for the presentation of his PM than the contents, you can present 100 different scenarios with that threat like presentation and you'll get banned every time.

in all honesty I don't think the first week even matters that much. If you just win your last 2 matches in a row (assuming tier 4 is the bottom) you automatically make it into the next round. And your last 2 matches will be against the people in the bottom of the group.

The signups were posted with plenty of time. Waiting so long to sign up even though you knew of it was completely your fault.

EDIT: I don't know if this has been mentioned, but this has nothing to do with Shotcoder. He's not on the staff of this league, but graciously sponsoring it. He has had no involvement with any of the organizing, decisions, or sign ups.
Due to the recent actions from the player mca64[KDV], he will no longer be allowed to play in the StarLeague and is from here on out banned from NoisE ASL 2. His offense was blackmailing the league. His message:

The league rules state that any actions of this sort are banable offences. Sending blackmail messaged to league admins is entirely unacceptable and will not be tolerated. The offence results in a termination of mca64[KDV]'s right to participate in the NoisE ASL 2 and possible restriction from future events. The actions are still under review, however, the league would like to put a stop to any actions of this sort immediately.
Secondly, the accusations are entirely false, while it is possible to question his skill... Bibiane and RuSh' replays were analysed during ASL and the conclusion which zimp drew was that Bibiane and RuSh are indeed different players. zimp's conclusions cannot be seen as biased because he himself did not like RuSh's participation in the ASL.
Any further discussion about the matter from mca64[KDV] will be reviewed by the league and added to the database which could result in a longer suspension from play and/or permanent ban from any future events.
This decision is final.

Hey, Shimy, come on.. how is this fair? mca was probably the most active player during the ladder stage and I think he has the highest amount of games played. First you guys say the reason behind this league is to inspire people to play and get better then you ban the most active of us for something very small. If he has proof that Bibiane is playing with Rush isn't it more considerable to investigate that first and then conclude that this is blackmail? For one thing, if he is right he is actually helping the league by removing a player that is way above other's skill. Sure you guys checked his hotkeys and did what was up to you, but he might have found out something using other methods. And even you admit that Rush's skill is questionable. I just feel banning mca is unnecessary at this point..

Not that my word counts, but Julia is a trash player who plays ranks -3 below him to acchieve ranks higher than he really is. I've asked him several times when we've been the same rank and he's either "afk" won't play or call me a hacker and leaves channel. He's REALLY a sad player.. 50-0 B-? With 50-0 vs equal ranks he should be B+.. No respect for players like that.

It is unprofessional of you to respond the way you did, and it is absolutely ridiculous to lie and say I submitted my info 2 hours late, when I know for a fact I submitted it before the deadline, the only way I wouldn't have was if the email was recieved later than I sent it. The fact that you reply with a "LOL" just lets me know how obvious it is that you are in on the fact that I am not being allowed to play because of a personal vendetta that shotcoder has with me. Why not man up and just say it that i'm not being allowed to play because of a persons personal grudges against me?
When I am just trying to play in this league and enjoy it like everyone else, why would I not be treated with the same respect? The least you could have done was explain why I wasn't allowed to play without a negative demeanor, or maybe a more mature way of explaining the situation besides a "LOL", so sickening and pathetic the way that people act sometimes due to the influences of other people, can you not think for yourself?
Also there is still people being replaced for the tournament, even if my email was received a little late even though I sent it on time, I guess you would rather have Bye's in this tournament than a player? makes sense.... -_- Regardless gl hf to all in the tournament, i'm hoping to see some interesting results. This is what one of the "Sponsor's" of the ASL's is like, I'm sure you don't treat everyone like this, but I think that you should at least have enough honesty, integrity, and respect for yourself and the people of this community to not lie, and just admit the fact that you aren't letting me play in this league for personal reasons, do you honestly want me to believe you have nothing else to do with anything going on besides the money?
Even if that were true, you guys are being so strict on mca for trying to help with legitimacy of the tournament, that one would think that it is taken very seriously how someone's conduct / manner is within the community when taking into consideration the administrators and or sponsor's of this tournament, noise / shotcoder, should also be punished for this ridiculous behavior for a sponsor / admin of this tournament right? I mean it would only be fair when taking into consideration mca64 I think. - -;;;

It is unprofessional of you to respond the way you did, and it is absolutely ridiculous to lie and say I submitted my info 2 hours late, when I know for a fact I submitted it before the deadline, the only way I wouldn't have was if the email was recieved later than I sent it. The fact that you reply with a "LOL" just lets me know how obvious it is that you are in on the fact that I am not being allowed to play because of a personal vendetta that shotcoder has with me. Why not man up and just say it that i'm not being allowed to play because of a persons personal grudges against me?
When I am just trying to play in this league and enjoy it like everyone else, why would I not be treated with the same respect? The least you could have done was explain why I wasn't allowed to play without a negative demeanor, or maybe a more mature way of explaining the situation besides a "LOL", so sickening and pathetic the way that people act sometimes due to the influences of other people, can you not think for yourself?
Also there is still people being replaced for the tournament, even if my email was received a little late even though I sent it on time, I guess you would rather have Bye's in this tournament than a player? makes sense.... -_- Regardless gl hf to all in the tournament, i'm hoping to see some interesting results. Even if that were true, you guys are being so strict on mca for trying to help with legitimacy of the tournament, that one would think that it is taken very seriously how someone's conduct / manner is within the community when taking into consideration the administrators and or sponsor's of this tournament, noise / shotcoder, should also be punished for this ridiculous behavior for a sponsor / admin of this tournament right? Is this going to be casted? I was just wondering how can this be casted since there will be lots of games if I understand the format correctly which I'm not sure I do.

I just realized I was an idiot and thought the second day was the 7th and not the 2nd.
Sorry for signing up for this and forfeiting the first day and forgetting to mention anything at all the second day, that entire weekend was booked up for me :/
Hope that it's ok to make casting details official, but I can't think of why it wouldn't:
Casts will start (and be held for each subsequent week) this Friday 19 CEST. For those of you that don't like timezone math: it's pretty much when I always cast. Divisions A, B and C will be this Friday, while D,E, and F will be next week.
It's not realistic to cast every qualifier game in 2 weeks, and no one would want the league delayed for 2 months to get through them all. Instead we will be casting these matches from each group: R6 T1 (that's the round six, tier 1 match), R7 T1, R8 T1, R9 T1, R10 T2, and R10 T3. R10 is different because we want to cast the "elimination games" and in both of those games the winner is in ASL2, and the loser is out. That's 6 games a group for a total of 18 games a cast.
To group D, especially Miso, can we start a little bit earlier at saturday ? I have work at night so I will be off at like 20.30, so I would start at least 1st game earlier, maybe 18 - 18.30 CET.

Thanks It's a shame that I've been a whole week now with no internet, and not able to practice at all. With any luck, I'll have internet back soon enough, so that I can be in top shape for the next round.
I'm very sorry for this but I'll have to forfeit. The only way I can play is with my laptop and it is shutting down by itself every 10 minutes, it is REALLY buggy. My real computer isn't with me for the weekend so I really can't play. That pisses me off but oh well, I really can't do anything

I was watching the cast is HB and DOTY. Really enjoyed this league. Its nice to be a viewer for one of these leagues instead of being the caster. Very relaxiing.
