Once again, this has already been justified more than once. Please guys, read a couple comments before you post... It's made that way because it's absolutely stupid to punish someone for working at everything the league stands for which is improvement. Given that the league stands for getting players active, helping them improve, it doesn't make sense to allow players who are stagnating entirely due to their own lack of interest in improving.

Are they the same skill? Maybe

Are they similar situations? Not at all

Given the nature of the league, establishing a clear cealing and cutting off players who did well in season 1 would ensure the failure of any future strive for improvement for league purposes. Players would just sit at the max rank and watch to make sure no one got in who was above. This is proven, I mean... If you look at DRTL, none of the top players would dare ladder into the C- ranks even though some of their records suggest that they could. Yes, in the future, the skill cap will be re-established to C+, which is another reason why we can't allow any B- players in who weren't previously admitted. However, in order to accomplish this, we need to need there to be another level of tournaments worth playing for between C+ and the top level which is a huge leap.

In conclusion, it's really simple... Until we are able to establish an alternative for player who excel, we're going to keep them in the ASL. It does not make sense at all to discourage people from pushing their boundaries simply due to the fact they may not get admitted.

Uhm, hello? Defiler tours, ISL? Those can help them improve if they want to. These tournaments have pretty good money prizes as well and they can compete with players closer to their skill level. Wouldn't that make more sense than bashing C level nubs? How can they improve by beating players that are not as skilled as them? Sorry, but I don't understand your point of view.

Punish the kids who worked harder than you. Sounds fair.

Shotcoder you clearly miss my point. I just want to make it clear to all of you, though I think it is logical to begin with. I applaud Wands for working hard and achieving higher rank during ASL1. Good job to him and I think he deserved the finals. That doesn't exclude the fact that now he is B- and he is a better player. I repeat this for the third time now, god its getting redundant, but this league is for C rankers, or I am mistaking? So to make it even clearer you are signing up a B- player, doesn't matter if he played in the previous season or not. That is the fact here! About Rush I think everyone in the BW scene knew and knows now that he was way better than C level to begin with. I don't want to punish anyone, I just think its not fair to all the players in this league, that's all.

I don't know where you're getting these "facts" about the league, because they seem to be an entire fabrication coming from someone who was partially involved in the process of creating the league's rules and procedure.

Dunno how you guys will take this but I want to make a suggestion:
how about some sort of "graduation policy" with these amateur level tournaments?

If you win an ASL, you're not allowed in anymore. Or some sort of variation of that with something like if you win an ASL you can't play in the next one but you can play in the one after that.

That way, we can ensure that there will be an equal level of skill among players and not "punish" the players who became the best of the C ranks. I don't think winning 1st place out of a $600 prize pool would really be a "punishment" persay. In a tournament with a skillcap such as this, players at the top can't hang around forever as they WILL improve and could possibly be TOO good for the other players. It will just be free money in the long run (and noobbashing). If you improved (which is the purpose of the tourny) to over C+ level that's great! The purpose of the tournament has been fulfilled and you no longer have a reason to participate. Also, just want to point out that the skill discrepancy is even worse at lower levels between ranks, more so than at higher ranks. For example, there is a much bigger difference between a D+ and C- player than there is between an A- and A player. So someone who is above C+ will have a much easier time beating said C-/C/C+ players.

Of course this leaves a loophole of someone really good intentionally getting 2nd/3rd/anythingotherthan1st to continually get money so something like 1st place unable to play in anymore ASL's and 2nd,3rd unable to play in next ASL would ensure that the amateur level tourny continually gets fresh faces at the top and a certain level of competition. (Plus everyone gets money!)

Just my 2cents, I welcome feedback and criticism.

It's important to note that we want to create a graduation system, but we simply don't have the resources to implement it now. We're obviously going to be looking into that quite intently following ASL2 and before ASL3.

1 WEEK AND 3 DAYS BEFORE THE TOURNAMENT BEGINS.

Be sure to tell all your friends and other mid ranks about it and link them to the OP so they can sign up! The more, the better :D

you're supposed to use another ID and link to iccup profiles, play protoss or terran in the ladder stage/qualifying, then play zerg in the actual tour.
I don't need luck, luck is for noobs, good luck to you though

Wrong thread, I think you're looking for _SL for C ranks
SC is like sex. You should play often, but never too hard. And you should only try hard when it matters.
