Truly, BW have far transcended beyond being just a game and this final matchup between Protoss and Zerg fully demonstrates why. The five matches between Jangbi and Zero encapsulated the very metanarrative of the entire PvZ history: from the Anytime's "sashin" style toss in set 1 to mass-hatchery style reminiscent of GGPlay in set 2, from two-gate hardcore build of Reach/mantoss in set 3 to the exciting defensive style of the dreamer Nal_Ra on set 5, and from mass storms epitomized by Jangbi himself to finally the unlikely and ultimate victory led by zertaul of protoss over the zerg -- it seems that in Broodwar, like in physiology, phylogeny recapitulates ontogeny.

Kim Carrier's tears is fully justified in the face of such sublime profundity and drama demonstrated in this final, glorious display of Broodwar.

Why do people think that using rare words for the sake of it is cool, I will always wonder.

Pity because the pompous shell apart, I really agree. I don't think the OSL last PvZ serie could have been any better.

Reading it again, it does sound "pompous" but it was not intended to be -- and I think the intent is what counts.

Are you kidding? There's nothing pompous about it. Although I didn't quite get the image you were trying to get at with the biology metaphors. It's certainly dramatizing for what is otherwise just a bunch of pixels moving across a screen but whatevs.

I wish I could properly express how I feel right now. Sitting here at the library and I'm crying like my girlfriend just left me. It is so unreal to think that there won't be another PvZ like this ever again.

Man, I sure hope that Fantasy vs Flash lives up tot his as well.

Was about to make the same post. Just watched the vods and teared up. I felt awful for Zero yet happy for Jangbi.

I've only been watching BW since 09 but I think that may have been the best BoX series I've ever seen. Flash-Effort comes close (but most likely only because it was final)

I pull a jaedong and "cry" everytime I actually think about it seriously. Or when Lizzy plays bw on a televised match or people post "this is last pvz ever..." and stuff and it's 1 am and I'm alone and OH GOD WHY IS BW GOING AWAY ;_;

+ Show Spoiler [jaedong cries] +

Q: During the TV interview you looked like you were crying
A: Personally I'm a guy that doesn't cry watching sad/melodrama movies, in regards to regulating my emotions I'm very introverted. But when everyone of the caster's words went straight to the bottom of my heart, and seeing all these fans before my eyes, I was extremely emotional.
So my tears came out immediately, but I absolutely did not cry (laugh). Yes, my eyes were wet, but tears did not flow, I just want to stress that (laugh).

I really do, and I assume other people do too.

You probably are the type who doesn't even cry when your girlfriend left you (ok maybe only for the first time?).

Kim Carrier, 13 years with BW, myself, 8 years (on and off though), it's been big part of our lives. Nothing else has made me waking up at early morning or staying up till dawn for 3 straight years! I still don't think BW could be replaced in my heart and any game could ever be as beautiful.

Not sobbing for hours, but tears definitely came after the end of game 4 and when Kim Carrier cried.

awww. I've only been following bw live for like 2 years but I've caught up to the past and it is definitely emotional.

I'm an SC2 guy but I've been caught up in the hype about the last BW OSL so I actually watched these games - first time I ever sat through an entire BW match (let alone 5). Somehow it even made me emotional, even though I have no connection to the game other than playing BGH with friends as a kid. There were times in the first few games I was thinking "I wonder what the fuss is about, it's SC2 with bad graphics," but then some shit went down that I don't think I've ever seen SC2 approach. Hopefully it can, in the 2022 GSL.
