Yes, the players who won in the prelims have advanced to the ODT. These players are then put into groups with some players who were directly seeded into ODT (for doing well last OSL). 2 players leave from each of the 6 groups to make 12 players headed to OSL round of 16 (Group stages). Those 12 players and 4 others (who were seeded directly into the RO16 for making it to the semi's in last OSL) then form 4 groups each with 4 players in them. Those 4 groups play in round robin style with 2 players from each group leaving for OSL RO8. Those 8 players are then populated into a traditional bracket and continue to advance from there.

Yet it doesn't quite look like Grape either, face looks a little distorted. Probably Flash and Calm but I would like to see Princess go through. Actually, I like everyone in this group, so I guess I'll just hope for good games. So go Grape, Princess, Calm and Flash.
I really hope Flash won't be shaken too much by the PL finals, his group is not that hard but losing like that can mess with you mentally -_-
Flash is known for his mental fortitude.
Amen, I'm just looking forward to Flash's return to form again after his -relatively- disappointing showing in the PL finals, I rather he play well more than just results.

Do you actually like Flash? I always thought you were a bit if a Flash-antifan...
What.
I'm not an anyone anti-fan. I love Flash (not lying!). I just don't always cheer for him because he's perennially busy crushing all my other favorite players into the ground ;_;
But like I said in the other thread, no OSL is complete without the overwhelming dangerous presence of the ultimate weapon, threatening to knock everyone out. It really makes a good story when an underdog finally manages to rise up to overthrow him (cough Jangbi cough). It takes all the fun out if Flash is eliminated too early (see PDPop MSL) :<

"Perenially", even in terms of Starleague, is far too much of an understatement

and to think I should be celebrating, having just watched Proleague with Morti. Lol we spent half the time bitching about something, errr, the flaws of a certain, new, game...
I think Flash should win but maybe hes still shaking from losing those games. Luckily he is playing against a SKT zerg. I'm not actually sure whether or not Clam can take him but we'll see, or if Grape will bring some sort of cheese vs Flash.
Poor Alone. Flash should walk out of this easily enough. Calm tends to do well in SL since he's great at preparing for matches against a known opponent and Grape is a solid talent.
That finals games is still hurting me ... Flash make a come back please and show me the awesome power of the terran again so I can start believing again . Flash losing to protoss only makes me think that protoss is too good . Time to kick some ass flash lets do this !.

Flash had much worse moments than this, even his OSL finals vs EffOrt were much more tragic, yet after this look how invincible he looked in latest seasons, even strenghtening his Godlike image.
If there is a player who ressurects as even stronger than before it has to be Flash. Yes its very recent but i i wouldnt believe if he didnt sit at computer the day after finals and start to make his practice partners life miserable again
Flash you showed them that God is merciful and you gave everybody hope that someone can actually take games from you when it matters but now just stop them.

Any race that Flash can lose to is definitely imbalanced.

remember that after he lost to effort he destroyed jaedong in the MSL 3-0 the following weekend
I hope to see Flash vs Calm on Electric Circuit. Calm said he had something special to show Fantasy when they played on the map, but never got a chance to do it. It may have simply been the Lurker glitch he used on Horang2, but I want a good game anyway.
I think if all the games were to go in to long macro game than flash has a greater chance in qualifying through this round some how I got a bad feeling that flash is probably going to slump . Although it's a different story for Action because he is the jaedong of kt rolster and should be able to qualify easily out of the group.

Alone did beat Leta to qualify and Leta's shown some really impressive TvZ this season. I highly doubt Flash is going to slump because of him losing though, his form wasn't as good in the finals as we expected but usually Flash loses if the other person plays better, not because he played objectively badly.
I'm quite worried about Flash to be honest. He's amazing player but he just suffered hard losses and who knows what condition he is in. But I hope he will make it! OSL without Flash wouldn't be the same.

this is my first time watching a live bw match. flash appears to be living up to his reputation lol. do you guys think if i just continue watching bw matches i can pick up on whats going on or should i do additional reading?

All you really need to do is go to the BW liquipedia and read up on what all the units do and you're set to understand what's going on.

I'd do both, maybe trying to play a little would help you to understand better too :D

keep watching but i recommend trying the game as well gives you a huge appreciation for their level of skill as well as gives you a better understanding of what is going on

You should play the game. Even if it's ridiculously hard in the beginning, you'll soon begin to get a grasp of the basic gameflow.

liquipedia is a few years behind on the metagame to be honest, ever since the large transition to sc2 by a large amount of player base. so a lot of the strategies there are dated and do not reflect current pro styles

yeah I meant just what I said though, if you read up on unit stats and abilities you can get a decent grasp on what's going on in the games. it's not good for learning the meta obviously.

Just keep watching. And read the thread or a stream chat alongside it. It gives you an impression what is risky or safe play, good or bad play, etc.
Wait a minute I'm playing so good and I'm on 4 bases while Flash barely secures his 3rd. I did a couple of great backstabs and killed alot of Flash scvs. I just need to stay calm and not have a brainfart and im gonna win this !
Oh Flash switches to mass vulture so it means that he will go pure mech from now on. I know i can go just pure Ultra/Ling that always works against mech .... "gets raped by vulture and tank " T.T

flash says he's just eating a lot and resting well

Probe manages to delay the natural hatch for much longer than it should, pokes around. Pool done and a handful of lings chase the probe but its too schneaky
Grape progressing with normal 2base play. Dragoon out gets a free ovie at his nat entrance
Grape building +1 air weapons, stargate up, robo building
Spire first for Alone, 4th hatch building in his main.
First corsair cops one scourge, but survives the second. Grape has map control for the time being, robo support bay up. Alone scouts everything with scourge.
4gates I think for grape. First reaver in shuttle and on teh way but diverts home as Alone pushes with a handful of hydras. Retreats when he sees the shuttle.
Alone has burrow and now a 4th at 3oclock. Hydras are there burrowed as dual reaver dropped Hydras not coming up!! Couple of drone kills
Shuttle tries to come back but scourge chase it away
Grape pushes out with goon/zeal/reaver/ht army, engages the front and gets a fair few lings but then retreats. Shuttle tries to be sneaky but scared off.
Edit: Defiler-less nexus drop, what the fuck why would you do that? Crackling/Swarm drop is like instant death to Nexus but not that great when cannons kill your whole drop force in seconds.
Grape attacks the 9 again, leads with reavers. No defiler support and lurkers dying to storms. Looks like its going to die. Hatch down, drones die as they try to flee.
Playguu on reavers. Random group of lurkers trying to cut off reinforcements to grapes main army as it moves up to Alone's nat.
Game 1: Not really, Flash looks kind of in trouble then game ends. Game 2: No, typical PvZ. Game 3: Not really, kind of amusing for Flash's tank control and supply block. Game 4: Both players suck. Somewhat long at least I guess?
Corsairs are freely scouting. Reaver loads up into shuttle. Hydras anticipating the drop though...
Reaver dropped! Scarab gets 4 or so drones? Spire finally done but it could be too late. Corsairs escorting the reaver and are all still alive with several hydras dead. Second reaver out now, zealot train starts north.
Grape pushing in, Calm has nothing. Corsairs raping the ovies, zealots killing the nat while reaver defends them. Drones evacuated to the main
Hydras reinforce from the 3 but its not going to be enough. Grape rallying zealots into Clam's nat
Slight mistake from grape when he didn't leave probes to block but overall sick game. Go watch his previous PvZs if you haven't already, the way he plays PvZ is similar to Dear's PvT in the way he times his expansions.
what was that play at the end from calm? he could have killed that 2nd reaver for sure with these 3 hydras and later too... it seemed to me he was trying his best to throw the game lol

My guess is that he timed the hydra retreat right before the scarab would come out. But didn't realize how close the reaver was from dying.
Best possible results we could expect, considering how many Zergs are in the ODT. Calm being his usual self, being too clever for his own good and getting punished heavily in two games out of three. Flash just obliterated the competition, as is OSL tradition. Grape was... well, not terrible. I guess that's cool.
Hohoho no zergs in tonight . Too bad I was spoiled by youtube's subscription thingy but it's all my fault so whatever. I shall watch the vods til tomorrow's games.
One thing i've always thought is a bit strange about this format is that you get situations like today where 2 players go 1-1 and one of them advances over the other
Hahaha game 3 was hilarious. At the end Flash allowed that hero firebat to live instead of suiciding it in the final attack. Oh and supply depot > Lurkers

Yeah. And when he was busting Grape's natural he moved his perfectly safe Hydralisk right inside Grape's base so that it would be surrounded by a mob of probes. WTF Calm.

Glad Grape won that last game, but what has happened to Clam? He used to be a top-tier, dependable Zerg and now he's just Kwanro 2.0 with constant (predictable) low-eco all-ins. He's better than that =/
Flash's macro vs. Alone was awesome. He didn't take a third for a long time and then suddenly - 3 bases in under 3 minutes. I'm a happy fan seeing Flash advance. Getting to see Hiya play will be anticlimactic. Yeah we love him and it's gonna be a great show, but he hasn't trained in forever. It will be like watching Kang Min trying to qualify all over again... predicting 0-2 but hoping for a 2-0

Being too cutesy with moves for his own good. Every single, he would be like "hey wouldn't it be awesome if I do this?" and stuck with the mentality when his initial plan falls apart. I can still see some really clever build and tactics from his early games. He absolutely needs to work on his survival skills because from what I have seen, his adaptability is close to zero.

Calm's lurker-1st build
Flash didn't have Turrets back at his base, going Lurker first was actually a poor choice of tech since he had both Spire and Den. I am really disappointed in Calm's control these days. Back in time, he had one of the cripest micromanagement games with clever off the wall builds. His ZvZs have gotten stale too in comparison to his previous sense.

Very nice pic. Glad to see Flash being happy and getting some support from his teammates. Now, if only Action can qualify into the OSL it would be perfect.

calm did have the best ZvP record last proleague (regular season) doing a bunch of different cheese/strategic players/whatever. His builds are really good usually. He destroyed grape in their first game. I think if he didnt try to run all those lings by the zealots during his first attack at the natural he could of broken it. Instead they all died trying to get past a ling-tight wall :\
