It was a well-deserved victory. Congrats, SKT1. You killed God, and as he falls, so falls the last BW proleague. Poetic, really.

It would be a huge shame if his performance starts dropping and he starts slumping after these finals. I really looked forward to seeing him curb stomp the best of SKT1 last night, and though he played well, Bisu and Fantasy just played even better. And I find it ironic that KT's wins came not from their Flash+Stats two-punch combo, but from their Zerg line. Good for Hoejja, CH, and Action. Really it was the perfect final. All hell was unleashed as KT Zergs prepared some of the most interesting strategy in the StarCraft Universe. Not only they solicified a victory for their team but also gave YellOw a massive homage. The storyline was just filled with mystique. But then out of nowhere the SKT trumped all of other KT's cards. Its just so fitting, it as if the ancient Brood War legends channeled their energy into the contemporary generation. And to top it off, we get to witnessed every single matchup being played. That is not all, all of the games today were top notch quality that it was a worthy representation of the perspective matchup. Terran vs Terran, we got to see pretty much all the past elements from resilient vulture plays to the importance of positioning, transitioning straight to DShips and to seal it off, we got to see the mass Wraith. PvP, we got to see two games with display of Reavers, Storm drops. Then in Zerg vs Terran and vs Protoss, the audience have taken a ride to truly witness the production machine of the Swarm. And lastly, a PvT that featured non stop action right of from the bat. All in all, this whole set just defined what makes BW as fascinating as it is today. The players, the coaches' emotions, the crowd, the commentators, the marvelous comeback. This is 'e-sport' in a nutshell and I remain dubious on who will be able to continue this legacy.

Anyways, Flash is the GOAT. He probably has 5 years of BW to go, 10 isn't too far out of reach either. I wonder if practicing with Team8 actually helped or if this was just pure SKT fighting. I'm inclined to believe the latter.

Recent "Grand Slams" have been against relatively unknown and inferior players who "lucked out" to make it into the quarters, semis and final. This is a relatively weak Starcraft era we're in - aside from Flash, Jaedong, Bisu and Fantasy, I'm not convinced that there are any other "Super Grandmasters" around. It's just a real pity that this "big 4" aren't consistent enough to make it into the latter stages of the "Grand Slams" to face each other. Anyway, I made the point that Flash lost to a "Super GM" on arguably the biggest Starcraft stage of all time, earlier in this thread, and argued that Flash cannot be considered the GOAT (particularly since he's only tied with NaDa for number of Grand Slams). Since then, he's in fact lost twice to separate "Super GMs" on the biggest stage, the latter loss perhaps the most important match of all time - the ACE game of what appears to be the final Proleague match of all time. NaDa is still the GOAT in my eyes. He went through a period of absolute domination, slumped (perhaps related to the death of his Father), and showed why he's the GOAT to come back and crush the then World Number 1, sAviOr, in the "Year End Championships" with a proxy Factory and trademark Vulture micro that is still today what I consider the greatest attack I've ever seen: http://www.teamliquid.net/tlpd/korean/games/7479_NaDa_vs_sAviOr/vod Anyway, sorry about the NaDa rant. I'm just shocked that no one seems to talk about the above match where NaDa made a proxy Factory and lifted it into sAviOr's base and did some incredible Vulture harass. The proxy Factory and Vulture harass were a joy to behold already, but the fact that he executed it to perfection on the big stage against an all-time great (playing at his peak) is just beyond incredible. EDIT: for those who will comment that Flash beat Jaedong at least three times to win OSL/MSL finals, fair enough! a weak era? the game is much more figured out. the gaps between the skills of players is extremely low. nada's skill level relative to the progamers of his generation compared to flash's is laughable.

Thanks so much for your insight!~ I was wondering if every matchup was played and lo and behold, yes they were... BW is such a great game. This finals epitomized every single matchup with the best from every single player and race they represented.

This cant be the end, can it? The BW scene seems just as exciting as ever. Back and forth matches, with amazing innovative play from both sides. + Show Spoiler + Wookie with his sick opening, followed by some of the best storm drops I have ever seen. Fantasy's brilliant elevator surround of Flashes contain. Actions clutch base-race decision. Crazy-Hydras hard fought comeback from certain defeat. By.Sun using unique map features to change the tides of what would have been a losing battle. Hoejja with oh so much red and green goo. Topped off with a maniacal low-tech microfest between the biggest names BW has to offer. BWs still got it.

Flash is the most solid player, mentally speaking. If he was crying was cause he dissapointed of himself and dissapointed of how he failed to his teammates. But whatever, he will rise again and will take OSL. You heard here first.

TBH I though Flash was fucked when Bisu pulled off the gas steal, then the manner pylon(s), then the Zealots in his base, then I thought Bisu was fucked because incredible Marines pushed Bisu to the proxy, then thought F was F'ed because more Zealots arrived, then I thought B was F'ed because F sieged up and stopped mining + killed buildings, then I though it finally was kind of even as Bisu traded armies at his back cliff, but then Bisu looked F'ed because he left Tank plus Bunker up there as he left to deal with reinforcements, which made him look even more F'ed. THEN SPEEDLOTS CHARGED INTO FLASH'S BASE. What a game. Sorry about your date though.

I still remember the Epic Ever OSL when Movie had an advantage in every game but instead of pressing... he teched up to Arbiters giving Flash freedom to clear his head and mount his army. I'm not saying this is the way to beat Flash... but to throw his timing off and his mind off a bit every once and awhile is not a bad idea. Remember, Bisu did this in the Winners League Final too (early aggression with zlots) and he beat Flash that time as well. Just saying!

When you keep him busy, that's his mechanical side you are dealing with. But when the aggression cease, you are confronting with him on a strategical level. In terms of tactical decisions, Flash might be very well the best of the all of Bisu, Jaedong, Stork, and Fantasy. However, in the micromanagement category, he falls behind by a very slight margin. As long as you are able to keep him on the toes and take him in a straight up struggle while continuing to dent on his armor, eventually it will get punctured.
