Given the condition of his wrist and the amount of money he has earned, I wouldn't be surprised. But still, hoping for a great finals. I doubt this will happen for several reasons. First, Flash is only 18! Its very hard to believe that the person who had the second most wins of all time after Jaedong is the same age most people graduate from high school. Most progamers retire at 22 or later. My thoughts were confirmed when I read somewhere that Flash has not played SC2 and would likely stay with SC1 for another 5 years. Search the threads to find that interview, which was quite recent and was done after the wrist issue. Flash will likely have contracts exceeding 250K a year and no one that age would turn it down. There is no such thing as enough money in Korean culture. And, as you know, the top progamers get a lot of other perks owing to their superstar status such as respect in their team, invitations to special events, dates with girls, and the like. Boxer, for example, is dating a somewhat well known actress. Also, it is extremely rare for a person who seems to be near the top of their game to quit. Every great progamer so far has quit after a prolonged and excruciating period of seemingly (and eventually becoming true) insurmountable losses. That being said, if Flash quits after the finals, he would probably be forever mentioned as if he were still the best. It wouldnt be good for StarCraft, though, because no new players will be able to push him aside as the new Bonjwa. His career will be the only one without the bad aftertaste of a prolonged decline. | ||
