16 teams of three players each. No room for substitution, so you better trust your team. The entire tournament will be 3v3 matches on Blizzard's version of Big Game Hunters over a two week span, starting May 14th.

Fuck yeah! I've played a lot of epic games on bgh, but I'm looking much forward to seeing what kind of stuff people will actually come up with when they really put their mind to it through a tournament!
GOGO sign up, even if you think you have no chance of winning, sign up with your friends and play some 3v3 BGH! If you want to practice, )v( channel on East is as active as ever.
Few tips for those more competitive players: - Build Orders (BGH) are VERY important on BGH if you want to compete on highest level. The main point in almost all Build Orders on BGH is that you don't stop making probes/scvs/drones. Ever.
- Don't think that expanding is not important on BGH. Even if you have infinite resources, it takes time to gather them. BGH has 15 mineral patches and 2 gases, so that's approximately equal to a main and natural on low money map. The guy with 3 bases on low maps WILL outmass you if you're only on main and natural (meaning 1 base on BGH). Of course, this is still a 3v3 tourney, so it will not be your priority to expand faster than your opponents. Teamplay is more important.
- Game style on BGH is very similar to regular Hunters which is very popular on Asia among Koreans. Here's a good guide on Teamplay (BGH).
- At the highest level it's no secret that PPP is the strongest race combination. Which is not to say that other matchups can't win against PPP, but it takes some experience.
- If you're playing Terran, play extra safe. That wall goes down faster than you think if you're teching, and those marines gets surrounded just as easily if you're m&m-ing.
- If you're playing Zerg, play extra aggressive. Going for economy play with Zerg is not usually a good idea on BGH. Instead use those deadly fast lings to harass your opponents, help surrounding with your allys.
- If you're playing Protoss, remember to transition from Zealots to Goons. Goons are one of the most important units on BGH, but don't get caught off guard. Always be on alert. Learn Fast Goon build.
- Map control is very important. If you take over the middle and effectively have map control, don't over-commit and go gang up on 1 of your opponents without securing the other two. Always be wary of a counter or "sandwich" (this is a term used when your units gets trapped from two sides due to the narrow nature of BGH passages).

I must say that is not exactly a fair rule. I mean why would you not allow someone to play in your tournament? There are only a few "fair" reasons I can think of. Such as excessive bm, breaking a law...Those sort of things...However to tell someone they can't play just because you decided against it is kind of wrong. It leaves question if you are disqualifying that player for personal reason or not. If it is for a personal reason, its not very professional...Then again, I guess that doesnt bother you. I think you should reconsider though and let him play. I mean if people disqualified IdrA from tournaments he might not be where he is today...However he is always a crowd please. Why? Cause people are always cheering for him, against him or cheering for his rage. Its why so many people have loved to watch IdrA in the past.

It's really cool that you guys come up with some interesting/funny tournaments to keep ICCup and BW alive/active. Even if the organisation isn't top-tier, you put a lot of effort and dedication to entertain the BW community. I thank you all for this.

Uhm i must say when i was watching that ISL ( damn good commentator btw - like ur sense of humor, have to give credit to you game also for hosting it , gj) i also got very irritaded when scan started to bm sziky ( was cheering for u scan to that match - after that i started to cheer everybody who faced u lol), however right after he appologized him (unlike many other players..) and thats fair - besides if u watch his other games he acts quite mannered even when others bm'ed him , and that means something.. hes stil young so u could go a little bit easier on him. so unless sziky is still mainly offended by it i dont see a reason why he would not be allowed to take apart in that tournament.
about tesla's bringing this subject into the public forum - why not? i think u should be fine about it - u can use that fact to bring more attention to incoming tournament (or let even public decide about his fade ) - becouse thats whats it all about right? to get public into that kind of events . and i personally find it more entartaining when scan plays in tournament so i can cheer for everyone who plays against him( ) than to not see him there at all.

GoTuNk! I like what you did here. I've spoken to a lot of people who say they don't have a third and or are looking for a team to play with. I fully support using this thread as a means to organize teams guys, I just want to let you know that it's a good idea.
Sounds like a great event! Always nice to see some variety in the tournaments. I'll try to assemble a team, and otherwise I will definitely be one of the viewers.

If random koreans were allowed to enter this (and they knew about it) there would be like 10k registrations. The rules really aren't that totalitarian and you can tell by the idea alone that it is a gift of entertainment for the foreign community.

True when there's money more people come and take it seriously, but with your skills and ~reputation~ I guess a Just-For-Fun TM tourney like BO16 could be sweet It's also likely to yield some better-quality play than just 1v1, from an observer's perspective.

I was so, so incredibly thrilled to see this wonderful news open up with that. This is a great event and I am very much thankful for those who made this event possible.
That being said, I just wish to remind everybody of that very first line. BW is something wonderful and the foreign community is also something very precious. I wish everybody could realize, that in order to have fun and prosper we need to set aside our differences - yet in almost every BW forum there is strife.
I'm not an experienced player or a veteran community member, nor do I know much about the circumstances of this current issue of banning Scan from tournaments, but if the main reasoning is excessive BM, that just sounds so incredibly ironic from Game himself.
Yes, Scan has an immature, arrogant, repulsing personality but as far as I know he is pretty much the only person who records his FPVODs and shares that with the community. (And no, from a beginners point of view, who wishes to improve his skill, it doesn't really matter whether he does that just to brag or not.) There are only a few streamers left, and most of the people who stream their play aren't very skilled. Scan is obviously a very good player, one that we could arguably consider a member of the foreign scene. I strongly believe that if the community wishes to survive, and wishes to do so in a manner that is worth something, we should start focusing on collaborating more. With the top foreign players leaving, we have to value every really good player more than ever. We may have to put up with more things than before, but isn't it worth it? Isn't BW worth it? We shouldn't drive our top players away, reading blogs like Belladona's just makes me so said. No, we should be able to discuss our problems, and learn to tolerate each other. Every member of the community is very valuable now. We don't have the luxury to just ban people anymore - that should only be a last resort. We now should treat each other with more care, teach each other about the correct ways of behaviour. Perhaps if somebody had a talk with Scan, the problems could be resolved. He is quite young after all - maybe a good talk is all he needs. We need to act intelligent and learn to resolve our problems here.
And I really don't just mean that in this current case (of which, again, I have very little knowledge). The same goes for everything else, really. I was shocked to hear the admins leaving ICCup and it's sad to see how the hatred steams towards ICCup. Again, I'm not knowledgeable on the subject, but was it really that unresolvable? Perhaps yes, perhaps with a little more patience and faith the problems could have been solved (at least, solved in a slightly better way).
All I'm trying to say here, that every person here realizes that BW is something great. We all want to see the foreign scene prosper, and a little bit more patience, tolerance and better communication could really go a long way here.
Take, for example, Game himself. He is perhaps the most influential person in foreign BW - the man who has done the most for this community as of recently (even if you disagree, you *have* to agree he has done a lot for us). He again is a very controversial person himself - and some community members rightfully feel repulsed by his behaviour and bad manners. I myself have been raged on in the stream the other day for a comment which was meant not to be offensive in any way, and the explanation was that he was sorry, he was tired and needed to rage on somebody. Things like that, banning people from the stream for little reason really discourages participation in what I feel is something very valuable. Yet again, Game is a person that I respect, because despite his flaws - which all of us have -, he has done, and is doing the most incredible job here. Perhaps if people could learn to appreciate that, perhaps if we could criticize in a constructive fashion, without the hatred, things would definitely go better.
I am sorry for rambling on like that and I am sorry for derailing the thread quite a bit. I do, however, strongly feel that this needed to be said, perhaps this was not the best place to do it, but I did need to get this out of my system and I also hope that some people will actually give these concepts a thought.

I must admit that I am guilty for starting the now controversial topic, about why someone is being unable to play in a tournament over small bm (In my personal opinion). However Game, if you ignore everyone that won't be good.
However, with the way the broodwar side currently is people are right to be concerned. If you exclude a member that only further hurts it, instead of help promote it.
Further more to address Shade[AoV]: Not to sound like a bitch but ANYONE can host their own tournament. Hell if I had the $200 I would do it. I just ran a tournament last weekend. So please don't make it sound like you guys are pulling out all the stops for a tournament. I really don't mean to sound rude or anything, but a tournament is not that hard as long as the person hosting has the experience, the streams, the casters and a decent place to post the brackets + the right publicity. So please don't throw it out there like its something impossible. You know what, I will even say right here that if I can raise the money/get the sponsors, then I personally will host a tournament where NO ONE from the broodwar tournament will be excluded. With that I am done typing here.

When i agreed on rule #6 that I wanted known Korean players who play with our foreign community. I just was afraid that random korean players with SN with no meaning what so ever would come and flood this tourney that im doing for our community. With much more foreign players who are leaving to play SC2 or other games im trying to keep the foreign community alive as long as I possably can. I have no disagreement with koreans playing as long they are well know in out community.

So do NOT try to sit here and say I am doing self promotion. I am trying to help keep the broodwar community alive. I spent 2 years of my life, doing nothing more then giving back to the broodwar community as an active iccup admin. Constantly doing something. While I have also done things in Sc2, I have never completely left the broodwar scene and refuse to because of my love for it. You do this for all the wrong reasons. Now I took the word of game till I see other people's responses and can see that I am not the ONLY person who feels game is being unreasonable. I continued to post her because this is a public topic and the thing I was posting about is a public concern. I'm sorry you are not please with that, but you can take that up personally with me in skype. The only things I have posted about in this topic summarize to the following:
* All of this started because I asked you one simple question. It is NOT my fault the community or those who have posted here, happen to agree with my question and concern as to why that player is being excluded.
* Later on I have commented on your inability to remain professional at any given time
* Your inability to take out your personal feelings towards someone, thus you disqualify them from a tournament and continue to try to find more reasons to try to "justify" why you are doing the disqualification
* I also posted that this is a public concern about how the broodwar community is going at the moment and people are concerned and hope to see things improve. I commented how this is one of those things that could seriously hurt the broodwar community in the long run, rather then help it.
* Then I showed proof when you tried to say that you never said something. I am telling you now, if you have something PERSONAL to talk to me about, feel free to message me on skype about that. Until then, keep all business or broodwar related topics here on the forum.
* By the way, I never said I was going to take you to court, just that it simply could be done and was making you aware that you are currently breaking federal laws.
If you don't like these sort of situations, then don't put yourself in them. That would be my advise to you.

if youre looking for allies a good place would be to start on east @ channel )V(. any players that play non-public games are going to be significantly better than the ones playing publics. if you wish to find good players try playing some games of "AI" (it takes 2/4/6/8 players and turns the game into 1v1/2v2/3v3/4v4 with random distribution of players and gives players that lift/don't mine obs mode.) These players would be your best bet to form a team if you dont have any allies and are looking for good bgh players that would be interested in playing. Most of the players playing ai have 10-30k+ games on bgh, hunters or low money team game. everyone in the channel is aware of the tournament via the bot spamming it. Theres consistently internal games with random players from about 12pm (CST) to about 2am.
As the tournament draws closer, I felt it necessary to add how to sign up to play in the OP outside of the rules. That being said, the sign-up ends May 13th at 11:59 EDT/May 14th 0559 CET. There are still enough slots open, and I fully encourage everyone to sign up and play, despite personal playing level, because remember - this tournament is for fun.

Sorry for another bump with this. Echoing Dakota about reps for these tourneys. If anyone has the rep pack, specifically for Test Your Might BGH Tournament 2, that would be awesome!
TYM 2 was never finished iirc. TYM 1 replays were lost in the sands of time it seems. I guess I could probably dig up my own games from that tournament, but that's about it.
Oh yeah, I think I remember now. Nizzy's team won the first place, but we never played for 2nd/3rd place (infernal team vs trutacz team). I also believe Game just pocketed the prize money for 2nd and 3rd place, but what can you do.
whats up 2pac! So happy to see bgh is still somewhat active. I wonder how many people would come out of the woodworks if someone hosted another tourney like this. Those were the good old days....
