i dont really care about who is the 2nd person to advance...
These are terrible times for protoss, and protoss fans alike. If Kal cant advance today either, I'll be pissed. Then again, he should be fine against a burnt-out terran and two zergs who are not JD, Effort or Zero :-p

its really bad times if all the protoss fans rejoice if kal beats maestro. any toss win, even vs scrub zergs, is something special and rare these days...
gj kal! seems to have been a decent game, gotta watch the vod when it comes out.

maybe zergs will learn to zvt then lol
And forget in the meantime to zvp, so that tosses have again a chance:-)

His Zvt is fine.
It's just Hogil is like Action where he's very susceptible to die to any kind of pre-defiler timing but if he can make it to defiler tech then he is fine. His management is really nice. He just has to work on his early/mid game.

I dont know, his midgame seemed pretty terrible too. Wasted crazy amounts of lurker-ling, and for moments it looked like he wont be able to bring home his advantage after breaking Mind's nat.

That was just brain fart omission due to lack of sleep.

actually he was only able to do it because of the ninja expo at the bottom right.

yeah lol, when he pushed that force just below mind's nat, half his lurkers were on the other side of the map

If Kal is the last protoss hope, we'll never see a protoss gold medalist ever again.
Well who else? All he needs is a lucky draw where he avoids Jaedong and Effort :-p
And Flash. ATM between jd and flash, your chances of not meeting either at some point along the way are very slim.
That said, I still believe in Kal.
Well given their recent face-offs, he still has way more chance against Flash (I'm not talking about stats, their games were close). Before the OSL semifinals the consensus seemed to be that he is the only Protoss to be able to give Flash a run for his money.

I agree with your last statement, and I really hoped he would have made it to the finals because their games end up very interesting. That said, I don't think he has a better chance against Flash over Effort, last semifinals notwithstanding. Kal was nervous and played horrible. His PvZ isn't usually anywhere near as terrible as what he showed that day.
Kal isn't winning a gold because he always loses to s-class zergs and Flash, no matter how close the games are. But he's a fun player to watch and he works hard so maybe in the next few leagues.

Well yeah, sad as it is, Kal's known for being an inconsistent choker.

No idea about the decision making there. Yeah, pure mutalisks will beat low number of goliaths but sending them next to their spawn points, right in the middle of a turret field, and right in the middle of half a control group of marines?
No idea why you would do that, especially when Mind didn't float a building and had a relatively defenseless natural.
If you're not good enough to qualify for MSL without 14 cc you shouldn't be sad and just get back to practice. In the MST you should play safely because most opponents will suck... like hogil.
On June 03 2010 21:23 Katsuge wrote: with this mind's gonna be hating hogil for life.
Hogil also eliminated Mind from the OSL last season. Next time Mind faces Hogil, he's going to do something among the lines of "Much pylon-heart-esque revenge"
Don't know why anyone would be complaining about Hogil cheesing- You do your 14CC build, you takes your chances. + Hogil beat him fair and square in the other game.

Not even that. Don't think Mind built a unit other than SCV's

Actually, I'm just doing it because of the peer pressure:-p but you're right, I dont like it either. I'll change it now
Yay so much better like this ^^. Sorry for sounding bratty about it hahaha. Hope other OP's start just having the results old school style... one spoiler plz guys ^^
Hahahaha this is hilarious. How many Starleagues in a row has HoGiL knocked Mind out of? Seems like every time I turn around that guy is giving Mind problems.
edit: ok so he only knocked him out once previously, two or three seasons ago, but the two are quickly becoming something of rivals.

Glad Kal 2-0'd though ^^
Well all in all, they werent too great. If you really want to watch games, I guess game 2 (Hogil vs Mind) had some pretty exciting moments, it was just covered/followed up by so much fail, that i couldnt recommend it with a clear conscience. It was entertaining, just nothing groundbreaking.
Also, if you like watching Protoss win (a real treat these days), Kal's games were decent too. Sadly we missed most of game one, so I cant say too much about that. His game vs Hogil was interesting in a way that Hogil denied his harassment attempts perfectly, which is a feat by itself against Kal, but you soon found out he fell behind on macro during all that when Kal moved out with his first real army, camped a little on the hill above Hogil's (!) third, then just rolled him over.
