Jaedong

The Tyrant has been the dominating presence on the Starcraft scene for a damn-long time. And it seems as if he doesn't want his presence to fade for an even longer time to come. He is renowned for his unbreakable mindset. While strong players before him come and go, Jaedong is just that much different. He won't allow himself to be forgotten. What makes him so much different than anyone before him is that unbreakable mindset. When other players lose, they slump, begin to struggle, and eventually fade away. When Jaedong loses, he comes back stronger than ever the very next day. You cannot phase Jaedong. If you expect to beat him, don't expect to break his focus with unexpected play, unorthodox builds, and other useless tools of battle. Jaedong is too strong for simple things like that. If you want to win versus him... you have to beat him straight up. And that leads to his frightening statistics...

Jaedong is a Bo5 monster. According to the Liquipedia (Stats) he is 19-3 in Bo5 matches. Not only is that a ridiculous amount of Bo5 matches, but ridiculous win statistics. It shows how long he has been in the scene, and how dominant he has been since then. The interesting thing to note though is that he has lost one time to each race. Once to Rock, fOrGG, and... Calm. But as I said before, Jaedong doesn't get phased. When he sees a statistic that doesn't go in his favor, he goes to break that statistic into pieces. And expect that ferocity tonight against Calm.

Jaedong is also renowned for his ZvZ (also known as JvZ). To try and explain this match-up in words... it could be called a Rock, Paper, Scissors match of build orders. Basically put: build #1 is strong against #2 which is strong against #3 which is strong against #1. And to put it simply, Jaedong was beating Rock with Scissors. He was so far ahead of the curve that no one could even begin to touch him. While things aren't exactly "JvZ" anymore, they are pretty damn close. Especially with his recent vZ results.

Don't expect Jaedong to be phased because he has lost to Calm before. Expect Jaedong to be stronger than ever. Calm has his hands full tonight.

Calm
(For Calm fans: I want to make this section as long as Jaedong's... but lets face it, there simply isn't as much to mention in terms of readily available information for me to type about, and sheer amount of games played, and etc.... please don't hate me >_<!)

Back in the time of JvZ, there were very few Zergs who could even fathom to win against Jaedong. And Calm is one of those Zergs. He is known for his genius plays and builds, earning him the nickname Brain Zerg. And in most of his games, you can see that shine of sheer brilliance come through into his play. Whether it comes through a slight twist in build order, or a small tweak in army composition, if you expect to beat him, expect to outsmart him. Or you will end up left in the dust.

Calm's best statistical match-up is vZ. And he has had recent practice in vZ Bo5's, seeing how he recently beat great in one 3-2. Calm has had the practice and has the ability to beat Jaedong, as he has shown before. He is the only Zerg in the world who can say that he has beaten Jaedong in the most skill-intensive game setup that exists. And Calm plans to keep it that way.

Calm will come at Jaedong with utmost preparation, as expected of a Brain Zerg. If Jaedong hopes to turn the statistics from 0-1 to 1-1, he will have to out-play this Zerg, because there simply is no out-thinking him.

It's hard to judge what will happen in any mirror match. Seeing how maps don't tend to benefit a specific player. But it is even more-so with ZvZ. Anything can happen. So don't judge me for my super-biased predictions!
