Are you honestly trying to say Calm and Kwanro were better than everyone else that year? The Clam was good but he wasn't that good. Often, the "better" players are taken down by worse players with huge risk-taking plays, or very unconventional ones. These plays don't make those worse players "better" than the better players, because the better players can do them better; however, a part of SC will always be luck, as it is with any sport. The better players OFTEN win; not always. That's why we have things called "upsets". And I'm not saying the winners don't deserve their golds. They all do, because they were given rules, a format, and fair games, and they won; however, they're not necessarily always the best. Having said all that, Hwasin deserves not necessarily GOLD, but he definitely deserves more credit and recognition than he already does. I don't think Hwasin ever could have won gold, but people are being unfortunately negligent of the most consistent player in history, save Nada.

Then Jangbi moved on to the final, where he got raped by Luxury due to his horrendous PvZ. If Nada and Luxury switched their quarterfinal brackets, it is reasonable to argue that Nada would have won the entire tournament. Gold does not necessarily reflect the best player in the tournament, just the luckiest good player. Nobody is demanding a gold out of Hwasin. What we do like to see is a semifinal appearance to break his round of 16 jinx.

Secondly it's really fun and admireble to see that Midas still got skill enough to go 2-0 in his group and he beats Flash on the way. Amazing!

Leta was quite possibly the scariest TvT player at the time, and coming off defeating Flash in a Bo3. Luxury narrowly edged him with trick plays and a 4pool.

Leta was a great TvT'er but that MU (at the time) definitely was nowhere close to Jangbi's god level PvT (at the time) (which Nada 2-3'ed against.) I think Nada would have been close to evenly matched with Leta at the time. Also, Luxury narrowly edged him out because Leta played really badly and choked... especially game 4. And it's not like Leta didn't use any tricky builds..

Its just unfortunate he can't get any luck like Calm, who won his Starleague by playing one matchup, ZvZ. Instead, Hwasin either plays the best player of the era or lands himself in a teamkill situation. Hwasin should be playing Midas but ends up playing Flash in a series match because Midas got out of his group 2-0: a summary of Hwasin's career.
