Companies have more than enough money to pay for WCG players, those 2-3k are peanuts to them. They just see no profit in doing so.

it's coz they are incompetent, lazy, stupid and so on, so on... smart ppl could find profit in something like WCG.. i mean, E-sports are present so many years and to put something like that to pass in front of you is.. urghh, can't find right insult

Regarding WCG Guatemala

They have announced the WCG in my country on www.gamerlatino.vg as you said but the "official" site is on facebook: http://www.facebook.com/wcgguatemala

However as you pointed there has been some "weird" actions:

1. Guatemala has been dropped from the WCG main site, which I dont think is an "accident".

2. There were problems in the Venezuala WCG this year and they were organized by the same people that is organiinzg WCG Guatemala, the "boss" told me he got some problems and the gamers are saying on the facebook and other sites that the organizer stole the money. I dont know what happen for sure, but I am trying to find out. Apparently the day of the event there were no computers at the place and there were problems between the Dota players and the mall security (apparently there were even a fight between them)

It is September 14th, if there are going to be WCG they should be announced this month so they have 2 weeks to confirm or cancel, sadly I think the second one is what is going to be.

Just to add to your thread Costa Rica already made his WCG qualification and gk_tosS is going to be the SC representative:

I'm sad that there's too few contestants. Part of the fun of WCG is seeing the Koreans just crush the hapless foreigners. There's OSL/MSL/Proleague for close games.

kawoq, thank you for your information on WCG Guatemala, I hope that somehow Guatemala can still select and send a representitive for Starcraft.

As for Costa Rica, I know it says on the TG site that gK would compete in both China and Pan-Am but I think there may be some miscommunication. Pan-Am was this weekend and he wasn't there and on the WCG CR site, it explicately mentions that only the Guitar Hero player would be competing in China and the Pan-Am.

I don't want to add him to the list until I am sure, but if he gets to go, that would be great!

If I am correct Costa Rica only took their Guitar Hero player to the Panamerican.

Now that you mention maybe I am wrong, I mean gk_tosS won the Costa Rica WCG but I am not sure if they will send the SC champ so China, maybe only the Guitar Hero one.

EDIT: you are right, Costa Rica is only sending their Guitar Hero Champ. My bad =P.

actually, is USA sending 2 players? Their press release said 20 gamers would be going from USA, but first place finishes would only account for 13 (including the two they are sending for the mobile games). I think we can assume a second CS team is going, that's still 2 more gamers, maybe Starcraft will get one of those spots. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

God WCG is more and more depressing every year. I loved WCG in the 04-07 span. It was probably the peak of excitement WCG wise. Now I don't even have expectations about WCG. When it happens, it will happen. Not holding my breath. I just hope that the day comes again when I spend the week before WCG GF all excited awaiting for the tournament to begin.

I updated the main topic, put the winner for WCG Poland, added a second spot for Russia, I'll update USA when their finals is over. Sorry about WCG in Bulgaria!

there should be 38 spots up for grab. due to past 2 years had 38 players. unless they decreased it or increased it this year.

but yeah this is the last year possibly for a non-korean to try to win gold. Unlikely to happen though.
due to Jaedong+Bisu+Stork.
