If you scout it early enough, you can do a marine/scv all in. Bunker up, and repair the bunker with SCVs until his nexus goes down. This is easier said than done: if he has decent probe micro, your marines will never enter the bunker. Protoss still ends up ahead if he can manage to save his probes though. The hard counter is of course BBS, but many of the maps where 12 nex is popular (Colosseum, Neo Medusa etc) also favor 10/15 gating, a build that should tear BBS apart if my theorycrafting is correct. (A lot of goons very fast, and early range) For more check idras post in this thread: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=93862. He covers the Terran response to 12/14 nexus very well.

He covers the Terran response to 12/14 nexus very well. Yea I read that thread but more than anything else it was just Idra showing why different counters people suggested were not viable. With 12 Nex, just the way the timings work out, its been established a 2 fact rush get raped. Obviously BBS is a perfect counter but in 4 player maps by the time u scout it (SCV scout is after rax finishes) then it'll be way too late to really do a bunker / scv / rine all in. How good is a strong FD push against it (the one Flash popularized where you delay the CC to get another tank and 2 more marines)??

Your options if you scout him late, the way I see it. Outharrass him with 2 fac vult or 1 fac 1 port vult. - If you know you are better than him or your vult harass is Flash'esque, this can work, at least it has vs me. If you go for the port variant, you'll have less vults, but more maneuvrability: drop 4 vults, kill probes, wait for him to come back, then strike his nat is the strategy people have used against me. At higher levels countering vult harass isn't hard and P can cut probes to get another round of goons, but I might work. Double CC - http://www.gosugamers.net/starcraft/replays/21004 - Leaves you very vulnerable to any 2-base timing attack. (In the replay above Much takes his third then strikes, weaking his attack somewhat) You need GOOD tank and mine positioning to pull this off, as you basically surrender all map control to protoss for the first 8-10 minutes or so. Choke him - Only really works on a map like Coloseum or similair, where you have high ground overlooking his entrance. Bunker up, get siege mode and rain down the terror from above. Again, skilled tosses will make gates further back, macro up and use a shuttle, really only making it doable vs. lower level players IMHO. Play normally. - 1 fac CC and proceed as normal. He'll have an advantage, so you just need near-flawless play Of course I'm only a C'ish toss - and my T is even worse - , so don't take my word. This is just the stuff people have used vs me that worked. 2 fact tank pushing is disastrous is most cases: P will just add gates, get leg speed and crush you.

(preferably from a recent pro-match) A friend of mine only knows starcraft from the early days and thinks walling is an impossible and silly strategy. Any game in which pressure is applied to the wall. He just needs to know that those goons can't simply run in and kill everything in your base and that scvs can make a wall impenetrable. And find a game where part of the wall does go down and the terran ends up losing. Or show him a game with a wall compared to a game without one, where you make 3 less marines and your cc is just that much faster. (cc can start right after fact is done compared to when 1st tank comes out)

"Flash's" recent 3rax TvZ is up. Please if you know how to make VODs in vista, contact me so I can make VODs again. This new update includes buildorders, tips and explenations and replays but no VOD since I don't know how to do it yet on vista and laptop. I don't have time to look through this post alot lately to answer questions, but I hope I'll be able to later.
