Well whenever I get contained on LT I usually have several options:
1. Annoy the hell out of him with Shuttle + Zealot bombs to weaken his Tank count and then break through with Dragoon + Observers. 2. If he has too many Turrets, I just try to macro sufficient numbers and then break it as I would a normal center battle. 3. You can try taking an island expo and making Carriers if you feel he's pushing a lot slower than normal. Rarely happens, second time this happened to me yesterday vs Pressure, but it was on Nemesis.
Honestly, you really should just delay him as much as possible, get Leg upgrade, and destroy him even before he gets near your base.

i contained equinox_kr the other day on zodiac, he just macroed and broke out shuttle is really useful here

Well yeah they usually have too many turrets so that zealot bombs are really hard to pull off.
It's hard to just break it as you would a normal center battle, since the AI of units clumping walking down ramps is abysmal.
If I've got 12 Goons that I try to send down the ramp, 3 will go down and the other 9 will run around in large circles inside my base.
The result is that the three at the bottom die without killing anything and the other 9 were completely useless.
I guess that's why the "go way more zealots than normal" advice would work here. Goon AI makes me want to GG sometimes.

Yeah, I have some weird control over units and forcing them to come down a ramp -_-;;
Anyways, yeah, a mass Zealot technique will work, but if you fail after maybe one or two waves, he'll just swarm you with Vultures, and it makes life a LOT harder.
Can you post a replay of such a situation? It'll make this thread a lot more interesting

Take your shuttle and put DT's, reavers, or a few goons behind his contain. This can get you some free kills if he just rallied his units to the contain area, and it will delay his units from moving in to help contain. Basically, he will have less units in the contain and you will be able to flank better with is a nice advantage. Map positions really play a big part in how easy it is to do this.
Once you have units behind his contain, you can then pick up some zeals with the shuttle(s) and zeal bomb + attack with zeal/goons from your main and a few flanking units from the rear. Speed zeals are very helpful but if you were teching reavers already you might not want to wait that long.

Haha GoSuPlayer, im just giving a suggestion and im not really a p player so ya, but im sure if you want to go for shuttle play on tanks, you better do it fast b4 he gets turrets up if not it'll be hard to break out the containment.

So I watched that replay in one of the early posts between flash and tempest.
I thought it was a good break through, and it showed me that zealot bombing can be worth losing a shuttle for (originally I had thought I couldn't do that if they had turrets for the waste of 200 mins),
but I think one of the large reasons he was able to break through was the map. The ramps on that map are way bigger than the ramps on LT which let 1 goon down, or two if you're lucky and the AI doesn't shit its pants.
It would be really hard to get those goons down to attack like he did on a smaller ramp.

Hardcore 2 fac 1 base contain (how I used to break out):
Get 5 gates and speed zeals. Robo and shuttles might be nice or it might not, depending on how early he puts up his turrets. 1 shuttle may be nice, but most of the time, not more. Just micro with your troops and break out, try not to lose goons, their build time generally allows the terran to reinforce his contain while with zealots you might actually sneak 2 waves of troops between his reinforce time. If he has no turrets, zealot bomb him to death. But if the terran is committed to his contain (i.e. it didn't happen on accident from a fucked up FD defense) that scenario is unlikely.
You see, if you've halted your tech and are constantly fighting, you don't spend your money on anything but troops (no tech buildings or pylons) and by the time it happens, you're likely to either have lost your expo, or at least had it in mind (what build did you go though that didn't involve an early expo and allowed him to contain you?), so you're gonna have a shitload of probes. Depending on the number of patches in your main, you can mass from 5-6 gates with ALL other expenses cut down. Going DT's is not the best idea since it's something everyone expects from a toss who's desperate.
Upon breaking out, analyse the situation. If you timed your breakout well, you did it right at the moment he expanded and his reinforcments were thinned. So your immediate goal is to even the odds on the economic level. You're also going to have lots of speedzeals that are somewhat favourable when trying to get into his nat. The decision is up to you, either you leave your gates idle and double expand, resuming probe production and hoping to fight off his timing push with what you have, or you take one expo and maintain your army production while at the same time doing everything to halt his expanding. The third choice would be an attempt to break into his nat abusing your superior production and hoping your main will not mine out before you deal the killing blow, but most of the time that is not favourable. Some people suggested storm drops - good idea actually, because you're most likely to have more gas than you need and making those templar won't hurt you.
Try to realize that there are situations in the game when a player with lower base count can have better production for some time and abuse that. Also, understand your weaknesses: your production is geared towards offense, so if you choose to mass, you will have to build pylons and won't be able to get the max out of your gates. Another of your weaknesses will be an obvious lack of forge and any started upgrades, and a lack of some crucial tech buildings.
However, there might be better breakout scenarios, it's just that the situation is rather uncommon, therefore there is no well-known common algorithms for solving it. I haven't been 1 base contained for ages, maybe because I don't play LT ^^

I usually use reavers vs a 2 fac contain as, usually they will be extremely committed to that contain. Taking an island expo, using reavers to pick off depots, stray scvs, turrets, and just dropping on their mineral line if you can works wonders.
To get out just macro speed zealots off of 4-5 gates. If you do nice damage with your reaver it should be pretty easy to get out, if not, you can just use the reaver as part of your army to break the contain.
