Tested scenarios:
SCV to mineral, queue on ground = SCV keeps mining until all minerals are gone then idles. SCV to mineral, queue on refinery = As above.
SCV to refinery, queue on ground = SCV takes gas, goes to position and idles. SCV to refinery, queue on mineral, queue on refinery = SCV takes gas, takes mineral, goes to refinery.
SCV delivers mineral, queue on ground = SCV delivers mineral, mines mineral. SCV delivers gas, queue on ground = SCV delivers gas, takes gas, goes to position and idles.
SCV has gas, return cargo, queue mineral = SCV deliver gas, takes gas, mines mineral. SCV has gas, rightclicked mineral, return cargo = SCV delivers gas, mines mineral.
SCV has mineral, rightclicked gas, return cargo = SCV delivers mineral, mines minerals, no minerals left goes to idle. SCV has mineral, rightclicked gas, return cargo, queue refinery = As above.
Dont know what you want to call it, Shift-sorting / Queue-sorting? Make a selection ring around mineral miners+military, shift-rightclick anywhere and it will sort military and keep miners mining.
Kind of the same principle with dropships. If you have the dropship queued it wont listen to your current queue command. Dropping off SCVs you can shift-mineral each dropping worker for it to go work as soon as its on the ground while not disturbing the SCVs you just put to work or the dropship from dropping units. Nerdy stuff.
Even nerdier: If you fill your dropships queue buffer of "back to base" orders, it wont listen to your shift-mineral queue commands and wont fly back to minerals you just shift-mineraled with SCVs. You will however need to select the last SCV manually and not use selection ring over Dropship as after last SCV one order is completed and queue buffer isnt full anymore.
