i aint the greatest player myself, but here's what works for me: 1)make sure you DON't OVERDRONE and get ling speed and lings instead of drones as soon as you scout this strat 2)if he has only 1 seige tank so far, you can rebuild ur sunken defence to soak up some damage and give you time to build some mutas 3)once you have 5-6 mutas, intercept his units (especially tanks) that he will be rallying to outside of your base (u can try to harass his main and kill some scv but if he is good he will already be prepared so maybe you shouldn't risk losing those precious muta) 4)after a few mins, you should have enough lings and lurks (you did build a lurker den aswell as a spire now didn't you? ) to own his push if you stopped him from bringing additional units to the rally point! or if you went pure hyd/lurk drops with no spire u can drop outside of your base and flank the set-up blackman style while intercepting with a couple lurks (tho i find this much harder to pull off).

attack his "containment" with everything. if he was stupid and made turrets at home, you will kill his "contain" and go on to win if he committed, you will lose. unless he is retarded.

would it be cheaper to get earlier den and hide some hydras out in the flanks before the containment comes?

so all u can do is observe the terran's movement. you could possibly suicide a lord at some point and find out some really good infos if you do it properly (as he's moving out or something). again, this is almost as obscure and costly as burrow, but it's one of those options. so anyways, like i was trying to say, there is a standard list of textbook things terran will do to a zerg early on, and if you have a lot of experience with your game's particular early material, you can see what the terran is doing, if it seems heavy or light, early or late. if terran doesnt show many marines, or medics, if he doesnt contain you with m&m quite as fast, if he doesnt even bother to check out if you have 1 sunken or 3 at the times they're both killable, then you suspect other things, fishy ass things, like an earlier cc, earlier fac, earlier dropship, or even something like vults or some kind of float. and as you suspect all these things and start to get lots of speedy hydras, THEN he moves out with this big ass m&m force you had NO WAY of knowing about (except maybe lord suicide) perfectly timed to kill your 4 sunkens or whatever. so anyways as i was trying to say, there's a finite amount of strong early positions terran should be presenting to you. the absense of one of these should make you consider more bizarre things they may be trying to do (things that are good against the zerg standards but bad if suspected, like paper to your rock when you expect scissors -- except you can see somewhat ahead of time that the scissors dont seem to be on schedule ... but it's a tough call). if terran isnt showing you anything, you have to power "safely", but im not sure how to do that, and ive seen plenty of zergs way better than me misjudge just what was safe to do against a "blindside" terran. sometimes you just have to guess, kind of like pvz.
