Welcome to Liquid Tourneys!
First-Ever Tourney: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=97531
After tonight's success with my prize-less tournament which you can view here, I received positive feedback from a lot of the users. They said that it was fun and that they would definitely play in future organized tournaments. I plan to start up a "project" called Liquid Tourneys.
What is Liquid Tourney? At set dates on certain times/day of the week, tournaments will be held. Anyone at any rank is allowed to participate because the whole purpose of this is so that everyone can have fun as well as a different Starcraft experience.
How does it work? When a tournament is held, I will usually create a thread in the "Tourneys" section a day or a few hours before it actually happens. This thread will be mainly used to sign-up and choosing what kind of tournament will be run. At the end of each thread will be a poll: "MSL Format," "OSL Format," "Single Elimination," or "Double-Elimination." I will go by the majority rule. OR I can rotate the type of tournament. For example, every Tuesdays will be MSL-style, Fridays will be Single Elimination, and so on...
When will tournaments be held? For now, every Tuesday, Friday, and possibly Saturday/Sunday. I'm not sure about the time, but night-time preferred. Would 10 PM EST be okay? Today's games started all at 10 PM EST.
I suck. It's okay. Most of the players range from D+ to C-. It's definitely not impossible to go far. I encourage EVERYONE to play.
How many players? 16 players is a MUST. But we can definitely get more. No prize? Yup. There will be no prize, but this is perfect for people who are bored. You guys all win "having fun" ;p
SO! This Tuesday will be the first official organized tournament. More to come~

Well how badly do you suck? The average player ranking today was D/D+, maybe C-
|
i guess i should sign up just for the fun of it

I think some sort of TL league would be cooler. It's harder to get alot of people to show up all at once for an extended period of time.
|
I will be totally up for this once I get home from Korea. I'm D- but it seems like a relaxed atmosphere that I can use to get better! Great idea clazziquai! I will be regularly checking for tourneys.
|
Can you give me a time on Tuesday?

yeah it's for fun. nothing more =P tuesday 10 pm is most likely but we'll see.

You should do some kind of ranking, like 1st place gets 10 pts, 2nd 8, 3rd 6 and so on

Yeah I could do that. But what would the points do in the future?

I am trying to find a good time for Europe, Australia, and USA
|
I suck, but I'll definitely keep an eye on this.
(And by "I suck" I mean I haven't ever played an ICCup game, my average APM the last time I played over a year ago was like 80, and I wouldn't even know a standard starter build order)
|
Sounds cool. But I have an apm in the 70's. So I'll probably have to stay out of it for a while.
|
I will try to make the next tournament, it sounds like fun.

Yeah time issue here is the biggest problem. I said AUS because I'm assuming that AUS times and Asian times are pretty similar =P

Atleast shauni offraced, if he didn't... oh man..
Also kona, i think asian time, or atleast korean time, is really close to australian time, so they both go together.
|
yeah, aus and korean times are really similar (only an hour out). Todays tourny was fun, i enjoyed it =]. As for times tho, you're not going to be able to please everyone with every time, i'd just suggest making one on perfect time for US, and one for decent enough times for the rest whilst still be playable for the U.S.
|
I think it's somewhat possible to satisfy the US/AUS/KOR time because the time difference is approximately 12 hours apart. So starting a game at 11-12 PM US EST would mean that it would start at 11-12 AM in the Asian part of the world.
|
yeah i agree with cam u should put all the C+ n above players in one group so it's funner for everyone
|
How bad can I be and still participate?
|
Incredibly bad. Just have fun and take it as a learning experience.
I'm guessing that's what clazzi would say
