ANY HANDS can use the small one. If you think your hands are too big, it's because you dont understand fingertip grip.
Liftoff is not even an issue for starcraft because you shouldn't be lifting off: If you watch pro gamers play, they set their sensitivity so they dont need to move the mouse more than 1-2 inches on the mouse pad to go from the middle of the screen to the side.
Yup thats right, for FPS you will never want this, impossible to aim like this :D
But i saw some korean pros playing SC1 and they used a very LOW sens, so they had to lift of the mouse pretty often. oki you are more accurate with lower sens. Hmm some like it like this and others the other way.

I'm looking into buying the Abyssus/Salmosa, would you guys recommend the Abyssus over the Salmosa? From what I know, the Abyssus DPI levels range from 450/1800/3600 while the Salmosa ranges from 800/1800? Is 1800 useful in Brood War? Though I might need the extra high DPI since my 800 DPI LMO was too slow in Window Mode 2x.

The AByssus is great, you cant do anything wrong here. For such a littel Price, its a great mouse. But makes some problems with some Mousepads (steelseries etc.) be sure to check that (google esreality, and teamliquid)
Salmosa is great too, but has DriftControl, Abyssus has not.

Brood War is always set on 640x480. DPI helps out on higher resolution so playing on 800 or 1600 DPI on broodwar is almost basically a preference now.
After using the Salmosa for nearly a good month, I have to say this mouse is great for StarCraft.
Like really good.

I actually have both. I got the Salmosa for $5 on a Woot sale one day, and the Abyssus came with my new laptop. :D
They basically feel identical. Same shape, same movement, same location of glide pads, etc. The only differences are 1. The Abyssus has a glowing blue logo light, 2. The Salmosa buttons are separate "pieces", and have a end halfway down the mouse you might feel. (compare pics: http://store.razerzone.com/store/razerusa/en_US/pd/productID.169419400 http://store.razerzone.com/store/razerusa/en_US/pd/productID.169414800 ) 3. The switches on the back are different. Salmosa: 125, 500, or 1000 hz polling rate; 800 or 1800 dpi sensitivity. Abyssus: 125 or 1000 polling rate; 450, 1800, or 3500 dpi.
If you like/don't mind the blue, you might as well get the Abyssus for the "extra accuracy" that you won't ever notice. If you can get a Salmosa for cheaper, it'll do just as well.

I got the Salmosa for $13.37 on woot.com. Love it, works great. How do I know if I have the Asian or American version? Does it matter that there's Nada on the box cover and a lot of korean writing on the side as well as in english?

Asian one is very small, smaller than the LMO, American one is much bigger.

The Biggest difference is that salmosa has DriftControl and Abyssus not. Some People don't care about it, but some others hate DC. Actuallly, a Mouse without DC is better. Salmosa has no onboard Memory, so no Option to remove it with a Firmware Upgrade in the Future.
And AFAIK the Asia Version of the Salmosa has no 1000Hz polling?! Hmm, i will see if i get my salmosa.

im using the Salmosa and i love it, used Krait before but it stopped working after ~2 years. I like smaller mice like the Salmosa and the Krait because i have small girly hands

@ nodq: That's the only problem I have with Abyssus — it wouldn't work on my QcK without using weird angles Do you know if it works with a Steelseries 9HD? I also have one of those, but I couldn't find any information regarding it on ESR.

im using Roccat Taito, and my abyssus works great on it. Ill soon get a Razer Sphex Pad, hoepfully it will work on that too.
Works on: Razer Goliathus SPEED: on mine it jitters on a few spots in VERY SPECIFIC ANGLES but 99% of the time it works perfectly Razer destructor: works Allsop Raindrop XL: Ive heard people say that it works on this, but could more people confirm? Func F30R: works fUnc sUrface Cloth Pad: works Qpad Heaton XL: works Qpad CT: works SteelSeries I-2: skips instantly if addition feet is applied on top of standard ones. otherwise: perfect Everglide Titan Monstermat Black: Minor jittering in certain angles but usually works just fine Roccat Taito: works Corepad Magna Blue: works
Does not work: QCK+: cursor jitters like mad and drags to the left in most angles. only works in very specific angles. Corepad C1: Jitters in certain angles Func C-series: Jitters in certain angles Puretrak Talent: Jitters in certain angles Razer Goliathus CONTROL: Jitters in X-axis Qpad UC: Does not work Steelseries SP: Jitters alot
Source: http://www.esreality.com/
You could turn your Pad around 45° or 90° for some people it was okay after that, and the jittering was not that hard.

I found the salmos mini to be very uncomfortable I could not find a good way to hold it. I returned it for an Abyssus and love it. Also, NaDa does not actually use this mouse, he still uses LMO.

About Abyssus/Salmosa DPI , IFAIK both mouses use the same sensor so DPI really doesn't matter, if you need more DPI just increase sensitivity.
On a personal note i love Abyssus, and as a previous Salmosa user i feel that there was an improvement in this new model (lack of enchanced precision or DC, somewheat better slides, no button squeaking)

IF something is different Abyssus to Salmosa then that they do NOT use the same Sensor. Thats the biggest difference at all actually. Salmosa uses the same Sensor as the DA 3G (max 1800 dpi) which is a great Sensor, just the DriftControl sucks.
Abyssus uses the newer 3.5G Senser, used in the newer DA for example. And has max. 3500 dpi. And no DriftControl.
Thats why its hard to decide... salmosa or abyssus, because DriftControl really sucks for my taste. I recieved my Salmosa Asia Edition today. And i must say, the Shape is the best ive ever had and seen on a RTS Mouse. Its so DAMN small, the abyssus is small, but the asia edition of salmosa is so much smaller than even the Abyssus (lol). But its just great for SC2 imho.
But... as i said, the DriftControl really sucks, for my feeling, the Abyssus is more precise than the Salmosa.... but the Quality of the Mouse itself, Buttons etc. seems better on the Salmosa so far. Abyssus feels just cheap compared to the Salmosa. And i dont know why.
