I can't believe blizzard pretends that they still give a shit about this game when for over 2 years they haven't bothered fixing this crashing issue. You can still play. Try restarting your computer before playing and run as little programs as possible while playing. It should reduce chance of freezing, even though it appears pretty random. Also, as much as I'd like nothing more than to make fun of Blizzard's "support" for BW, this is actually a Windows 7 problem, so blame it on Microsoft ^^

Its all random and that is my issue. I have crashed 5 minutes into a game and I have crashed 45 minutes into a BGH game, its very frustrating.

Its all random and that is my issue. I have crashed 5 minutes into a game and I have crashed 45 minutes into a BGH game, its very frustrating. Now you have to ask, is it worth Blizzards time. You have to find the bug, fix the bug, who knows how indepth that bug actually is. Then you have to do regression testing to make sure you didn't introduce any new bugs. Is it worth it for Blizzard to support a 10 year game? Which is generating laughable profit for them compared to WoW/SC2, if any?

The bad side is that you can't play in fullscreen, but rather in a Window (takes some getting used to). Add the fact that korean doesn't work with wmode ![]()

So I have to create a game with a pw, then alt tab. Then when I go back in I have to hit ctrl+alt+delete then hit cancel.

When I had Win7 I didn't have a single crash for a whole month. Then it started happening like all the time. It's random...

Everything is not fine, play a map with water and you will see instantly the colours are definitely not fine. @ all I rebooted my computer once started and played through escape from auir 5 or 6 times (restarting broodwar in the process) then i started live messenger, and Starcraft deadlocked on the next start.... heh. Anyone up for trying http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2386792

Please keep us updated as often as possible. I would love to help with testing or whatever else, but I'm on XP due to this problem. Maybe I could install Win7 under VMware and do testing there? Would the environment be the same?

Windows 7 should not run ddraw in a manner which even allows freezing. Would the environment be the same? its just a ddraw to opengl wrapper after all, so it should work on XP as long as compatible display drivers are installed. SP1 is incoming..... keep your eyes peeled for links.
