I downloaded the x264vfw codec online and selected that as my video codec option in the live output window in Camtasia. I capture at 15fps. In Flash Media encoder, I select H264 as my video codec with settings of 480*360, 436 kb/s, and 15fps. For audio I select mp3 at 64kb/s. Combined, that's a total of 500kb/s, which is the maximum bitrate that Mogulus accepts.
I use a desktop with a e7200 processor (overclocked to 3.2 Ghz) and a ATI 2600xt graphic card. I also selected the option of "keep aspect ratio" in the image scaling window of the ATI Catalyst Control Center.
When you capture with the x264 codec instead of the techsmith codec, your computer runs smoother and your video looks smoother in Mogulus. I still have starcraft as high priority in Task Manager though.
edit: it works on my laptop too. Core 2 Duo (2.0Ghz) Nvidia 9600GT
Thanks A LOT for this info. This should fix most of the issues people have been having.

And thats the answer I've got from the support team:
"I assume you're referring to the original version of Starcraft, released in 1998? This is much pre-directx 9/10. We support many games with dx8 unofficially it makes sense this may not work -- we will look into options for this, thanks for your patience.
Best Regards, Cory Frans Livestream Producer Support"
Seems like I won't be able to stream after all (

You can use procaster to stream, you just need to play in windowed mode.

Whenever I hit record on camtasia with media live encoder, it seems to work fine. However, when I have the livestream webcaster window open, camtasia always crashes when i hit record. Do you have any idea of why this may be?

I got my fmle to connect im pretty sure:

I just started it and stopped it a couple times. But now the problem seems to be with the stream. When i stream it, it appears to the viewer as a tiny box in the upper left and he cant make out anything happening besides my mouse movement. I re-read and double checked everything. Just to make sure im doing this right, this is what i do...
(no other windows running)
1.) Start camtasia ( have version 5. whatever) hit f9 which is my hotkey to start live output recording 2.) Click start on fmle 3.) Click Go live in the procaster box with the box "screen" high lighted.. 4.) Tab to starcraft and try to load a rep/whatever im doing
What am i doing wrong?

Does anyone know how to convert *.flv files downloaded from the studio to something that can be edited?

@UBERtoSS_hV make sure you don't exceed 500 kb/s from both video + audio combined in FMLE
and why are you using procaster? lol if you're using Adobe FMLE to upload to the server you don't need procaster which is like an alternative program altogether

Bump but
Suddenly, my Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder (or Camtasia, dunno which) stopped working. My streams work fine, but when I load the programs and turn it on, there's just blank in my channel. It just happened all of a sudden >__<

john7kfc: Depends on the file format. For freeware, try: http://flvtoavi.com/
kona: I've been doing some testing, and I think the problem might be on our end. As a test, you know how livestream automatically records all of our broadcasts? Watch the recording of your most recent broadcast (the one where the problem occured), and see if you can see video and audio in it. It'll give an indication of on which side the problem is occuring.
Edit: I fixed my problem. I don't know what I did though :/ All I did was just restart FMLE, though I'm not sure why that didn't work the first 20 times I did it.

I might as well post in this.
Okay, so here is my only problem now:
I used RaGe's settings and such. I made sure that the total did not exceed 500 kbps.
So here I am with FMLE and Camtasia Recorder. The stream and my channel themselves work fine, except the problem with me is RESOLUTION
Everything is set to 640x480 but everything is so zoomed in and the stream basically shows like a small portion of SC out of the entire game.
If you guys need to know, my OS is Windows Vista and my screen resolution is 1200x800.
Here is my FMLE log:

------------------------------------------------- Minor problems
1) Whenever I start recording, sound will mute and will never come back on unless my computer restarts.
2) Starcraft lags. I used Enable CPU Throttling, yet it still lags.

clazz: Lower your bit rate. You probably have it set too high to run Starcraft and FMLE simultaneously.
I've had this resolution bug happen to me before, but I never really figured out the source of the problem. From your log, the line that says Resample Required is an anomaly. FMLE basically controls the size of the recording area, but check your Camtasia settings nonetheless.
As for the muting sound, need more information. Do you mean SC sound or can you not hear anything in your recording? Also, what is this Microphone Array that you're recording your audio off of? You should be recording off of Stereo Mix or Virtual Audio Cables, unless you only want your voice to be recorded.
|
Mystlord: Audio is off EVERYWHERE, meaning my music, starcraft, youtube, w/e. Sound is just completely gone. It ticks me off as I hate restarting.
|
UPDATE: After a quick reinstall of everything and doing it from scratch, I fixed my mistake which I was probably unaware of. I tested it with a friend - Starcraft now runs in the correct resolution.
The only problem is that the stream is very laggy (because of my SC -_-) and that the colors are often messed up.
I set my bitrate to 250, and Starcraft is set to the highest priority from the task manager. Furthermore, I set the CPU throttling. Yet, I am lagging >_>

Umm... It might be your processor that's limiting your stream bitrate. Set your bitrate as low as you can, and work upward until you need to set it to high latency.

over and over again
Had this problem for awhile. You're exceeding the 500kbps bitrate limit. You probably have video at 500 bitrate but the audio is putting it over. The real bit rate you're using is in FMLE and under the audio section, so just mess around with the video until the total is under 500. I hope this fixes your problem.

" Advanced FME Options
Add any of the following parameters at the end of your RTMP URL :
/autoVOD=true - This automatically adds the recording to the top of the Video on Demand list /autoAutopilot=true - This automatically adds the recording to the top of the auto-pilot playlist Aspect Ratio Conversion support : /aspectWidth=[number] - If your input camera/feed is not 4/3 - for example 16/9 - set this parameter to 16 /aspectHeight=[number] - If your input camera/feed is not 4/3 - for example 16/9 - set this parametre to 9 If your channel is configured to be 4/3 aspect ratio, it would letter box your 16/9 feed and display it correctly. If you did you not set the aspect ratio properties and your feed was 16/9 - Livestream would assume it was a 4/3 feed and display it as 4/3 - which would be incorect for a 16/9 feed. /bufferTime=[x sec] Allows you to set the buffer time of the live streaming in the player. By default this is very low (0.5 seconds) Increase if you use a unreliable connection during a live Flash Media Encoder broadcast. " Their set up guide.
